It was just that their methods of therapy did not work for me.

The Worst Therapist on the Planet…read more You're probably wondering why I would give such a poor rating to Dr. Phyllis Shulman. Well it's simple; she lacks the most basic tenant that a therapist needs to bring to the process of evaluating a patient and that's listening with an open mind without preconceived notions. As a therapist, she should listen to all aspects of a situation and then make a diagnosis based on the case at hand without bias. I'm not going to get into specifics of my situation that my wife and I came to her about, but I can say that she was abrupt, rude, biased and did not listen to the different dynamics in our relationship. My wife and I would have had better luck talking to the bartender at the Philosopher's Club (a well known watering hole in West Portal). There are dozens of Therapists in the City so save your money and chose one that will listen to you and make a diagnoses that fits your unique situation. Relationships and people are widely diverse and the last thing you need is a therapist putting a stereotypical label on you or your relationship because they did not listen and have some kind of prejudice. I would have given no stars but I thought people reading through the reviews might think I forgot to rate Dr. Shulman.

The kids have a chance to play together first, then they cover a relevant topic that I've felt have been spot on. The social skills group my son was in had the below summer curriculum. Highly recommend. Week 1: Introductions to summer friends; transitioning from academics to summer and recreational time. Week 2: Adapting to a new schedule, meeting new people dealing with socially anxious feelings. Week 3: Making new friends, building on conversations and common interests. Week 4: Dealing with difficult behaviors of others, navigating non-preferred peers and using assertive language. Week 5: Mindfulness, enjoying the summer/vacation moments, allowing my body and brain to relax from the academic year. Week 6: Balancing screen time and activities at home, dealing with unstructured time, and tolerating boring moments. Week 7: Hanging on to new friends from camp, getting contact info, making playdates, and deepening connections. Week 8: Problem-solving peer and family conflicts, handling difficult moments in relationships, moving beyond the hurt, and returning to baseline communication. Week 9: Goodbye to summer, transitioning back to school, and using what we have learned!

Katrina is a life-changer who's made a huge difference in the trajectory of my life the past year!…read more I was a late-20's successful gal with a thriving career when I met Katrina - but I realized there were some heavy, old family things and some fears I'd been carrying that I wanted to get rid of. While working with Katrina, I identified what I wanted, met the partner of my dreams (both smart AND kind!), lightened my worries about relating to others ('you don't have to explain yourself!'), dealt with 3+ rounds of heavy family news, freed myself from financial stuckness, seen massive changes and new levels of honesty in my relationships with three of my family members, left my super-stable job in order to start my own thing which has turned out to be the most positive adventure yet. If those aren't results, I don't know what is! From the get-go Katrina is open, stable, genuine, safe, deeply kind, and confident and aware of when/where to listen, ask questions, and assist. Her office in Noe is clean, calm, pleasant, easily reachable, and safe. She was out-of-network for me (and may not take insurance), but I learned how to file claims with her support and it was worth it. I'd been putting off seeking support for a long time, and in our first meeting Katrina listened intently, reflected what she heard, then shared her experience and happiness to work with me on my goals. She was candid about her expertise and non-expertise -- and indeed was honest & deeply helpful around family, relationships, positive self-talk, sex, identifying patterns, and holding space, even for things that seem too big or scary as they come up. One thing that struck me about Katrina was that - in our very first meeting - she shaped the space by welcoming all thoughts and feelings that came up for me *about her* so we could work through them together. She explained that frequently these either contain valuable feedback about how she can shift her style or the tools she's using (ask more questions or fewer, give more resources or less, which she's happy to do!) or that they can also be projections around the issues that come up. Friends of mine say this is a rare treasure with therapists! We explored BOTH types of feedback in our relationship. Katrina became one of the first people in my life to whom I was able to express anger and form needs, and who received both gracefully with a glow of stability, gratitude and warm listening. She has the confidence, grace, empathy, and compassion not only to hear but to seek out feedback - and taught me how to trust others and myself by actually mobilizing what she said she'd do differently, and genuinely looking forward to additional future feedback. I told Katrina things I hadn't yet even shared with a close friend, making associations that have enabled me to completely change my work and financial life and freeing me to leave Google for a bright, fulfilling life beyond. You want to work with Katrina if you: - are looking for someone to support you opening up new layers; - seek kindness and confidence in holding space for your story and reflecting back to you your needs with empathy and real concern; - really could benefit from someone in your life you don't have to tiptoe around; - are into behavioral/practical/relational guidance rather than getting stuck in mental loops/stories; - want to see in-person what it looks like to *genuinely* thrive on feedback, validating others and yourself in the process, growing soundly through the honesty and trust of others. If you're afraid of another therapist asking leading questions or offering cold analysis, you have nothing to worry about here! Thank you so much, Katrina, for offering your gifts to the world!

She's also a creative and resourceful thinker, which has helped me in approaching situations and ideas from new angles.
