Not because it was that severe or swollen but because she just could not figure out how to actually look at my daughter's ear and diagnose. Absolutely insane and miserable for my daughter as she kept tugging on her ear to the point that it hurt her. They also misdiagnosed strep throat for a UTI leading to multiple unnecessary visits. The only reason they caught that it was strep throat was because I diagnosed it myself. Again absolutely absurd. Seems like they have no idea what they are doing and are trying to rack up as many visits as they can just to take your money. Please do not go here if you actually want to solve your child's health issues!

Horrendous experience that I am going to back up with this extensive review…read more 1) The doctor we saw was rushing through the exam and scraped the inside of our infants ear during the ear evaluation and said "if you see a little blood later, it's not a big deal" 2) We use mouth tape for our daughter at night to correct her jaw alignment and address some gut issues, the doctor told my wife that was "mean" to do and doesn't work. 3) My daughter was wearing pig tail braids and the doctor tugged on them and said "girls wear pig tails so boys can pull them" - how weird is that to say to a 5 year old girl? 4) He refused to share with us a vaccine list to get our daughter caught up saying "I don't do that" Overall, this was just a prime example of a factory pediatrician facility with a hint of very weird comments to a young woman.

I have had good experiences with Dr Davis, however Dr V is the reason for my negative experience and bad review. My daughter is 14 months old about two months ago I took her in for a fever. She was checked out and told it was an upper respiratory infection, just take Tylenol. That night her temperature got to 103.6 with Tylenol and we took her to the ER where we found out she had a double ear infection. One day of antibiotics and she was better. Two weeks ago she had a fever again and I told them she recently had the ear infections, maybe it was that? Again we were told by this pediatrician that she had an upper respiratory infection after they examined her at 9am. By 1pm she was inconsolable so I took her to Cooks Children's Urgent Care where they confirmed she had a double ear infection AGAIN. I called the clinic to notify them, two weeks later they have never called me back. Needless to say we will be changing pediatricians.

She was great with my child and seemed genuinely happy to be seeing us. The next nurse was just as uninterested as the other two gals in the office. Parents already have stress around taking their children to the doctors, the last thing we want is to feel unwanted and like an inconvenience. I have used him as the pediatrician for all of my children because I feel he goes above and beyond that of most doctors. I have countless examples of this over the years we have been going to him. Even in stressful situations, (like rushing my then, 3 week old daughter to the ER) he was there first thing in the morning and was able to put a smile on my face. He has a wonderful sense of humor with both parents and children. Anyone who has met Dr. McCoy, knows exactly what I mean. The excellence at Practical Pediatrics does not stop with Dr. McCoy. The whole staff is amazing. Linda, Kelly and all of the nurses are wonderful. They know us by name and have made me feel like part of "the family" since brining my first child in, 12 years ago. I understand how important it is to have the right pediatrician, so I hope my review can help give some insight. I am very fortunate to have been referred to Dr. McCoy by a family friend, so I do the same and recommend him to my friends and family. Apparently, they are out of network for us, which I didn't understand because I confirmed they take Cigna. She said "I have explained this to all my staff and they are aware." Well, if that's true, they decided not to take the time to tell me that, even when I gave them my insurance card to make copies! Either they aren't aware or don't care. $375 is a bit of a financial burden for us but a nice bit of extra cash for them, right? So they probably just didn't care. Worst part, I'm still trying to figure out how we will pay the bill when I take my son to a different doc but Practical Pediatrics won't release his records while there's a balance. They also wanted to charge me $25 records transfer fee, which she said she'd waive once I pushed back. So I paid the balance on a credit card and am hoping they'll actually transfer his records. All in all...these people obviously see patients as walking money-makers. I'd avoid.

Wow, we were wrong. What I don't want to write is a novel (but if you have questions, I'll happily answer them) - but there were SEVERAL things that we were extremely unhappy with (all around her lack of 'bedside manner' and her inability to communicate with us). To the point that we had to find a different doctor. But we still stayed within the Cook Children's network (and the transfer within the network was easy). She might be an amazing doctor. But she was incredibly hard to talk with and was down right rude when communicating with Baylor Medical (the hospital where our child was born). We have also filed an official complaint with Cook Children's. If she is your doctor and you love her - then we wish you the best and we're glad you are happy. If you are considering Dr. Arca to be your doctor - please seriously sit down one-on-one and make sure that this is a person you want to communicate with about your child.
