There…read morewas severe damage throughout our neighborhood and along the gas line adjacent to the back of our property. We had a silver maple tree in our back yard that had to be 100 years old. We have lived here since 1976. Brown Tree service had cleaned and trimmed our trees 4 times over the years. The wind that blew through ripped off 4 major branches 12-18 inches in diameter. 2 landed in our garden bed on top of our potatoes, 1 landed on our fence, and 1 landed on another garden bed of ours. Our tree was not diseased at all. In fact, the branches that were ripped off looked very healthy. We called our Aborist, Ken Brown that night. When he was able to get back to us (about a half hour) he'd be here by 6:30 the next morning. He was true to his word. He walked out back, surveyed the damage and said that this was going to be a removal, not a salvage. He said he would have a crew on site within an hour. Again he was true to his word, the crew was "johnny on the job". The crew worked so well together. They also had to take care of another tree that had also lost a branch but just needed minor cleanup. Ken was by several times while they were working. It took all day but the clean up was fantastic. He told us that because of the other tree damage around the area he would be back the following week to grind out the stump. Once again, on the following Wednesday, his man showed up and really ground out the stump. He was here for three hours making sure that the stump was ground out almost a foot below ground level. Ken Brown has always done a professional job maintaining our trees and did a superlative job. We plan to replace our tree this fall after consulting with Ken. We wouldn't trust anyone else to do it. The 3 services I had them do were: 2021: Removal of dying crabapple tree 2023: Removal of all shrubs in the front and sides of our property 2024: Removal of all shrubs in the sides of our property in preparation for a fence. At this point, I don't think I have any more trees or shrubs left for them to remove, but I wouldn't recommend anyone else for any tree/shrub service needed. Thank you Progressive!

Being a landscape designer, I have been asked to help with many projects. There have been a few…read morethat have had their fair share of challenges, including a project for a non profit dog kennel in Riverwoods called Orphans of the Storm. They had wanted to create a Dog Agility park area on their grounds for the dogs to enjoy to honor a volunteer that passed away from West Nile Virus. The area was awful. Full of wild raspberry, sticker bush plants of all kinds and tons of stumps and invasive Buckthorn. Since I know Bryan personally I asked him to take a look and give me a price. He looked, and we talked and he finally said "Did I tell you about the dog I got from here? Her name was Carrie.." I remember the dog and the story. "I think if I get my 4 guys in here we can clear this thing up in one day, so I'll do it for free." I was beyond overwhelmed, I never thought that would be a possibility. We talked about not using chemical herbicides to eradicate the Buckthorn because Orphans was nervous for the dogs. They came in, they spent the entire day, hand cutting out the Buckthorn, stumping the stumps, clearing the brush...and they wound up only having 3 guys! We encountered some objects we did not forsee...tons of garbage, chunks of concrete, piles of rocks and mysteriously buried metal covered concrete item... It didn't matter they worked like a well oiled machine, and cleared the entire area all 4200 square feet of it just before the rain came. They cleaned up after themselves, and you would have never known they were there....except there is no Buckthorn in that area anymore. I owe him many Thanks from all of us. This project would have never gotten off the ground if it weren't for him and his generosity, and because of that, they were able to buy the better quality agility equipment from the donations they received.
