The best dermatologist in South Tampa, hands down. I've had skin issues all my life, and I've never let it hold me back. Regardless, a flare up or breakout can be discouraging, frustrating, and mildly demoralizing. I've switched soaps, used only electric razors, anything to calm the skin and prevent irritation. Sometimes none of that worked. Dr. Tawil presented me with a 2-step solution that had me cleared and significantly better in 2 months. Miocyclin oral antibiotic & Clindamyacin topical did the trick, and I continue to use topical as a maintenance. He had a number of other options available had this not worked, as he has a large clientele with rosacea related issues, and no one treatment works for everyone. He's also a specialist in skin cancer screenings - if you have a ton of moles like I do and spend any time in FL sun, see this guy once a year to be sure you're in good shape. read more

Great doctors are hard to find but Dr. Tawil is one of them. He and his staff are friendly. I was concerned about an area that my be skin cancer and dr Tawil took my concerns seriously, reassured me but also biopsies the area. I got a welcome letter in the mail. It was all a positive experience and it wasn't cancer. so grateful and relieved! read more

This was my second office visit in the past 5 years to have the doc check a skin spot. All good. Friendly office and I like the doc's friendly approach. The office is very nice and the location on Neptune is very central in S. Tampa. If there's any shortcoming, it is perhaps that they dont take credit cards. Cash or check only. I never carry cash, but there is an ATM right around the corner. I would highly recommend this dermatologist for any and all skin examinations. read more

Office staff was friendly, but Dr. Tawil did not take my complaints about a painful mole seriously. He acted bothered by my complaints about a few spots and told me he saw "nothing that concerned" him. Went for a second opinion from another dermatologist who was extremely concerned about the appearance of the mole that was causing me pain. Biopsy has been done and I'm awaiting results. Additionally, new dermatologist did biopsy same day while Dr. Tawil said he would remove mole but had to schedule another appointment in 2 weeks. Looking for another co-pay? Horrible experience and Dr. Tawil was *almost* rude and definitely inconsiderate of my concerns. read more

Dr. Tawil is old school - not as to equipment and education but as to respecting his patients and seeing them at the scheduled time. He is very thorough and professional and totally pleasant. His staff is very nice too. You have to pay cash (or check, I suppose) as he doesn't take credit cards but as long as you know that ahead of time it shouldn't be a problem. Parking is easy. I've never had any issues with his practice and enjoy being Dr. Tawil's patient. read more

Came to Dr. Tawil by referral of my mothers doctor who was on vacation. I was seen on-time and professionally treated at every stage. I was offered a solution for my condition that was clearly explained to me as the best of a few choices. The office visit charge was reasonable and the low cost of the procedure completely blew me away. Let's just say I expected to pay into the thousands and leave it at that. As for the old school feel I see some of you talking about, I guess I can kind of see it having been there now but I wouldn't necessarily use those adjectives. It was just an average pleasant experience. It's not supposed to be a party. No one came to hold my hand, offer me a latte or tell me how great I looked but I'm always welcome to pay more for those kinds of irrelevant services somewhere else right? If the doctor hadn't impressed me, I wouldn't have bothered to take the time to write this review. read more

The office staff is HORRIBLE AND UNPROFESSIONAL, particularly, Theresa. She violates HIPPA rules and regulations and will share your personal information with anyone. Beware your information is not confidential. The doctor would do better with a whole new office staff. However, some of the reviews talk about how bad the doctor is so I'm guessing, THE FISH STINKS FROM THE HEAD. He doesn't care, so the office doesn't care. Find another doctor! read more

The skin cancer sceening was not thorough at all. He did not look at over 1/2 of my skin. He looked at the back of my legs, part of my back, tore a small hole in the gown and looked at a small section of my stomach and that was it. My last dermatologist who unfortunately moved looked at my scalp (parted my hair in several sections), looked at the bottom of my feet, she looked at every inch of my skin. This screening with Dr. Tawil was a joke, I will not be going back. read more

Our family has been visiting Dr Tawil for over 20 years. He is quite knowledgeable and efficient in his treatment of patients. Never have to wait too long and he always knows his stuff. read more

Seriously, one of the best experiences at a doctors office I've ever had! The front desk was welcoming and pleasant and Dr. Tawil was knowledgable and friendly. I was seen without waiting long at all and before you know it my problem was fixed and I was on my way home. Highly recommend this office!!!! read more

Dr. Tawil's practices make sure your are seen on time and don't spend a long time in the waiting room. Yes you may have to be assessed and come back for a procedure but that makes sure you are seen on time and get the proper care you need at the moment without being rushed. He and the staff are very caring. I enjoy the "old school" feel and wish other doctors did the same. From the front desk to nurses/medical assistants everyone is so nice. Very happy to be a patient here. Hard to find a great doctor like this! read more

There are few doctors that I have met and medical offices I have visited that compare to Dr. Robert Tawil's (pronounced like towel). When I approached the front door a NO CREDIT CARD OF ANY KIND sign greeted me. I thought to myself, great check or cash only. Who carries a check book around anymore? And cash, forget about it. After meeting the very friendly staff and filling out the least amount of paperwork I have ever been required to complete at a doctors office; I noticed some advertisements on the wall. Upon closer inspection I saw that they were clips from magazines and newspaper articles. The display that garnered most of my attention (I was in the waiting room for less than 5 minutes so I had to take a picture of the following article because my eyes were on it for 10 seconds before my name was called ) was titled "Top Doctors." How they comprised this list of top doctors in the US was by asking 260,000 physicians a simple question. Who would you trust with your loved one's care? Dr. Tawil received seven mentions! I think this is rather impressive due to the fact that he does not have a half a dozen locations, like some of his colleagues. I have not yet completed a minor procedure that is scheduled for tomorrow. But I have COMPLETE CONFIDENCE in his ability to do the best work possible. If you need a dermatologist run, do not walk and visit with Dr. Tawil. Just be sure to bring cash or your checkbook. Lol. read more

While my experience with Dr. Tawil himself was fine, the process to be seen and to have a procedure is extremely cumbersome. I've been to many dermatologists in different areas because I have a lot of freckles and I'm prone to skin issues. All of the dermatologists I've seen previously conduct screenings, biopsies, and all other non-surgical procedures in one visit. Dr. Tawil's office requires multiple visits for each issue. So instead of 1 visit, they said I had to schedule 3 visits. Who has time for that? The front desk staff are extremely rude and not customer service oriented at all. I told them my health savings account was covering the visit, they argued with me. I asked them to call my insurance company and they said they didn't have time to do that, so I had to pay with cash. My health insurance ended up paying for the visit later, so I double payed. Dr. Tawil's office never contacted me to refund me the money. I had to call them and argue with them about it until finally they sent me a refund. I've later learned that they actually violated the reimbursement timeframe. If you are looking for a convenient, customer friendly doctor, this office is not for you. read more
