However, when I went to him for a nasal polyp, he actually ended up performing two other procedures that were completely unnecessary that he never spoke of in our THREE pre-op appointments. When I signed the consent form in the pre-op room, I thought it was just the formal name of the procedure I was having done. I didn't realize until I woke up with a splint in my nose that I had a septoplasty. Technically, it wasn't illegal because I did give consent but it was completely unnecessary procedure and I am certain now that I never had to have surgery to begin with. I will always tell people to avoid his practice, but I will say that I learned an invaluable life lesson. As a patient, you have a responsibility to be your own best advocate and part of that is understanding that you are as much a person in need as you are a customer. Thankfully, I healed properly and there were no complications from the procedure, but I will never be so trusting of a health care provider again.

I was beyond frustrated, desperate, and so depressed all I could do was cry the first time I met Dr. Iyengar. He patiently put me at ease by asking questions about my pain, my life, and my family being sincerely interested in me as an individual. I owe my life to Dr. Iyengar. He has guided me through extremely aggressive courses of Chemotherapy, 16 rounds of Radiation, a DVT, Sepsis -- twice -- along with a myriad of ailments throughout the years. Dr. Iyengar has always sought the best treatments available, as-well-as providers of those treatments. His delicate management of my pain medication has enabled me to have a much higher quality of life than otherwise possible. Unfortunately he has had to repeatedly fight with my insurance company to advocate my treatment which is beyond stressful and unhealthy in itself. An entire generation of baby boomers should not have to fight so hard to stay out of pain. I probably…read moredelayed the surgery I needed by at least a year because the PA for one of these surgeons told me just by looking at an x-ray taken at their office that there wasn't anything to fix. I had my mri on disc with me but she refused to even look at it. She summarily dismissed me after waiting 4 HOURS TO BE SEEN and I never saw the surgeon just the PA. I am now seeing surgeons for adult scoliosis surgery. I guess my scoliosis curve didn't show up on her lousy x-ray. That's a 45 degree curve mind you! Talk about incompetence. I have never seen a PA without seeing the surgeon too. Now my curve is worse than when I went to the Advanced Spine Center. I guess their name really means we won't help you unless your spinal deformity is so advanced that you can barely walk. What a huge miss. How AI keeps generating this practice as a top option for adult scoliosis surgery must be a glitch of some sort. It can't be for real. And what kind of sense does it make to have your patients who are in excruciating pain wait 4 hours to SEE THE PA NOT EVEN THE SURGEON! I did ask a couple of times while I was waiting how much longer it would be and the really rude receptionist kept saying "it shouldn't be much longer". I guess I'm the idiot for believing her. I would have left but I had already invested so much time in waiting, I was sure if I left it would have been just that minute before they called my name. So I stayed. If you're being referred to this group I have to wonder who referred you and how much confidence you should have in that referring physician if they think these guys are really great. Trust me these guys pale by comparison to the truly competent surgeons out there. I MOST CERTAINLY DO NOT RECOMMEND.

He genuinely cares about his patients. I was probably a lot younger than the people he saw all day but he still took the time with me and treated me really well, and was always willing to work with me on medications as respiratory issues can be very expensive.
