I'm disappointed with a few of the recruiters at Robert Half. I have noticed they will pursue you if it benefits them, but if not, they will not return phone calls or emails. Because they are "Numbers" based and have a quota to make the candidate is not priority number one. The receptionist in the San Francisco office is often rude and impatient if you ask questions she may not know the answer to. Basic questions like the phone number to the payroll department or their email address. Also, don't expect to be placed for a permanent position as this does not benefit them. Not too many employers are willing to pay the fee for a permanent employee. My experience with the SF Office team has been nothing but positive. All of the members of the staff whom I have met have all been really friendly and supportive. The day after I met with them I received a call for an assignment. I started later that week. It has been a fun and beneficial experience thus far and it even has the possibility of going permanent. I am so thankful that Office Team has granted me this great opportunity. I would recommend Office Team to anybody and in fact I have already done so for three of my friends. I've had the pleasure of working with just about every person in the SF office and have been pretty happy with Accountemps since they've kept me on steady contracts for 6+ months. The suggestions to update my resume were super helpful and they've done a good job of finding me work that's within a reasonable rate range (it could always be higher, but they do try). If I have a knock, it's that there's always a bit of confusion when an assignment is ending. I chalk it up to the nature of the arrangement: it's tough when you work daily in an office, so the supervisor sometimes talks to you first or your rep calls with an update when the supervisor is standing a few feet away. If that's my biggest "con" with an employer, they're doing something right. The nature of temp work means you have to be flexible, understanding, and trust in the system ~ and this team gives you the tools to do just that. read more

Although they are very large, I was impressed with the personal yet professional attention, assessment of my strengths and the plethora of opportunities consistently offered me. I started working with Office Team in March 2014 and every since that day that have been great sending me on a lot of assignments to keep my experience fresh and my resume looking spectacular. I was seriously in the need of a job and I called at 7:45 that morning, spoke with Rich and that afternoon I was set to meet with him. Talk about VIP Interviewing. These women have a super respectable hustle; I'm amazed by what they do! They are incredibly diligent about checking in with me, whether I'm on an assignment or in between, and they are tirelessly singing my praises and advocating for my candidacy in the best positions they have. Emily Turner was kind enough to give me a chance despite the overly artsy attire I wore to my interview (if, like me, you tend toward the eclectic, tone it down and go ultra conservative), and savvy enough to recognize and promote my marketable skills and experience. I'm less a fan of the process of letting me know about/asking me whether I'm interested in every position before they submit me as a candidate, as I am often told the client has gone with someone else. Maybe this approach (of presenting multiple candidates at once and telling us before they have a sense of a client's interest) is unavoidable, but no matter how confident I am, it's still a little nerve wracking, and I haven't had that experience with other agencies. Finally, I've seen better wage rates for similar jobs at other agencies, but they both either didn't have as many jobs available, or don't have nearly the interpersonal savoir faire of the SF Office Team. I'm so glad I came across Office Team and Alexa as my recruiter! Unlike many other recruiting firms, the day I met her I heard back from her with open positions, She really got to know what I was looking for and my career goals, and only suggested open positions that met my expectations and didn't waste time. What I really appreciated was how much time she took with me to go over the position before the interviews, and help prep me for it. She was available for any questions anytime, and made me feel comfortable going into the interview. After the interview, she thoroughly followed up with any feedback she had and questions I had. Her easy and friendly personality makes it very easy to communicate with her. Alexa was able to place me in my current position, where I've been at for 6 months now, and love. Well not TCG! Brandon in the San Ramon office reached out to ME on Linkedin (refreshing) and told me I have great experience (which I agreed with naturally). He then said it was his mission to help find the perfect fit for me. 2 weeks later a job was posted that I was a good fit for and he put me in touch with Chris in the SF office who got me in for the position that I was hired for. It was a temp-to-hire position and I not only got the temp role, but I was then hired on. The people at Accountemps are like used car salespeople. 1. They seem eager to meet you initially, but they never bother to respond to emails/calls after the initial meeting. You won't hear from them unless they think they can put you on a job. 2. If they submit your resume to a client for job, and you don't get invited to interview, the recruiters won't even bother to update you - they would just leave you hanging. 3. The recruiters are pretty stupid. Some of them have had no actual work experience in accounting or finance. Listening to them trying to describe a job assignment is a joke; most of them barely understand what the jobs are. 4. Their pay rates are ridiculously low; their mark-up to the clients are so high, which forces them to pay their workers low rates. I would stay far away from this company. read more

I cannot be more dissatisfied with a staffing agency than I am with Office Team. I signed up with Robert Half Legal and then was advised that they are a sister company of Office Team. I had already had a terrible experience with Office Team in another city but was willing to give it another try. I found them to be incompetent and disorganized. They don't pay attention to details and they were hasty, so mistakes were made and sloppily smoothed over. In the first experience Office Team didn't find me a job with one of their networked employers, they had called the employer from out of the newspaper and begged him for an interview. Office Team was unaware that I had already applied with that company before signing up with them. The employer agreed to interview me and wanted to hire me, but Office Team had threatened him with a huge fee and hassle if he hired me. This employer was not affiliated with Office Team or signed up with them for temps, they just called him out of the newspaper like I did. The employer was afraid that if he hired me he would get into trouble because Office Team was pretty clear with him that they owned me. I didn't get placed, and the employer was sad that he could not hire me. When I was faced with trying Office Team again through Robert Half Legal I thought, "Maybe I can give them another try, perhaps situation number one was just a bad misunderstanding." But boy was I wrong. The second time around Office Team made a critical error in processing my identification--- a very basic first step of employment. This error lead to a situation where I was basically working illegally as an unidentified individual and therefor they could not pay me until the ID situation was resolved. That is kind of a big deal, working for free and engaging in something that is illegal under employment law. They were very apologetic and wanted to fix the situation, but if they had only paid attention they would not have had any problems and could even have resolved this mistake to my satisfaction; but they were so incompetent and shady about resolving their errors that I went ahead and quit as soon as I was aware of the situation. The ID was resolved and I was eventually paid, but I have no respect for the integrity of business that Office Team runs. Office Team and other staffing agencies make money off of your work. That might be okay considering they hook you up with something that pays; but they do not care about your needs as an employee, they care about getting you into a job so they can get their money! read more

During my recent job search I tried various methods of finding a job and figured I'd give RHI a try since they seem to be well established and have 'name brand recognition'. I made my appointment and took the time to go down there only to find they hadn't told me to bring my birth certificate (they said proof of ID which I took to mean my drivers license). Then, I met with the recruiter and filed out page after page of paperwork and left with the understanding that I would be hearing from them. I never did. My emails and phone calls to the recruiter went unanswered - even when I simply asked if it was my lack of a Birth Cert on file that was maybe holding up my paperwork. Perhaps this works for some people, but as for me I will be taking my business to some other, more responsive, recruiting firm. read more

They have gotten me a lot of work in the past, but can be VERY flaky, and some of the agents are straight up bitchy. Their office must be very disorganized--whenever I call the office the receptionist transfers me to the wrong person, and I never know who I'm supposed to talk to. I had an agent who quit, and I didn't get work for 2 weeks because I was leaving messages on her voicemail that no one got. Very unreliable! On the other hand, they are the only temp agency in San Francisco that has ever gotten me consistent work. So I guess you have to find a way to work through the burocracy and deal with their bullsh*t. read more

it's not the company, but the office that sucks. I've used Robert Half offices in other cities that rocked, but this one is a piece of krap! I passed the stupid background tests, I tested well, to be honest with you I'm quite marketable? Maybe not for every little niche. So where did they send me? To a latchkey client who was late to their own place so I had to knock an hour off of pay. The client was beyond casual, even tacky? But the subjective confrontation made by the client seemed to indicate that they didn't want to pay overhead fees? Of course it's the temp that's always blamed for it. Not to mention, they or their clients only give you not even a 24 hour notice for interviews and assignments and the pay is GARBAGE. Excuse me? They want a three piece suit for an $11/hour day job, and they'll tell you about it the day before, right before quitting time. So if you had plans, etc. They'll hold you up. Why? Because the economy is so horrible that they can. The temp pulls it off, then they cut off all communications with you. The best is when the "client cancels the meeting", again after you made the day available specifically for them. Mind you, we're either scrambling for work or we have to schedule a day off for assignments. This is incredibly rude, to say the least. Not to mention, they're leaving US out of money when they pull this garbage. Then they want to blame the candidate. Did they lose the deal? Why would the job candidate want to lose the deal? Many of us NEED a job. Since these agencies are trying to monopolize the job market... they lose one deal. For us, it's our bread and butter. For some reason, some of their people have lost it. It's the agency, they need to stop treating employees this way. You want people to represent you in a certain manner? Then YOU enforce that exact culture in YOUR OWN OFFICE. LEAD BY EXAMPLE SLEAZEBAGS! omfg only SF staffing agencies are TACKY enough to have either yuppie bimbos or gutter trash representing them. They and many others already broke the law by posting ghost ads (misleading advertisements). Why do you think they're all anonymous? Again, it's THIS office, in San Francisco. I have NEVER had recruiters this inept before I moved here. Rude is an understatement, *ARROGANT* narcissist is a closer description. Don't hog up my time then cancel at the last minute. They did it to me more than once. If there was a problem on the resume, let's fix it. But to run someone through the ringer then flake, why? It costs me money to interview? BART. Muni. Gas. Parking. There are former dot com millionaires who are homeless due to the economy. God I wish I could charge them for everytime they made me use my badly needed money to make their arrogant, worthless acquaintance. Just so I can watch them waste oxygen. It's not just cruel. It's malicious. We didn't go through the trouble of getting our education, training and credentials to "lose" out to competition or an internal candidate. Having read a majority of the reviews posted here I felt compelled to weigh in. I understand the negative comments because I understand how difficult it can be when you are out of work and you need help. When you sign up for any temp agency, you expect them to help you get access to interviews and opportunities that you otherwise wouldn't have had a chance at. And that is exactly what Robert Half provided for me. They weren't miracle workers. They didn't make a job appear out of nowhere. But they also never led me to believe that they could make jobs appear out of nowhere. From day one, they were frank and honest about the types of opportunities and pay I could expect them to be able to deliver. I dealt in particular with Office Team and my contacts were mainly Joe George and Jackie Kim, but I also had some dealings with other members of their team. Everyone was professional and courteous, and I never felt that they fell short of their end of the deal. The complaints that people have lodged against this company are understandable, because they are complaints that are commonly made about temp agencies, it's the nature of the relationship. You, the employee, sacrifice part of your wage, in exchange for opportunities you otherwise wouldn't have had. And it's not like they force you to accept their opportunities. If the pay is too low, and you think they are taking too much, you can decline and continue to look for work on the open market. But speaking from my personal experience, when I wasn't with the agency, I could send out 30 resumes a day and not hear a peep back. As soon as I registered with Robert Half, I got an interview. I didn't get the job but it led to another temp opportunity that filled the void for a couple months. When that ended, they found me a couple other temp opportunities here and there, some better than others, until eventually another real temp to hire job came around. I got another interview. They put up other people for the same position, I had to compete and go through 5 interviews. But eventually I got the position. It took 7 months and a lot of struggle, but it is an opportunity that I never would have had access to if I hadn't registered with Robert Half. My point is, you can't expect much in this world without putting some patience and hard work behind it, and Robert Half is definitely a tool that if used correctly can lead to a successful transition from unemployment to full time work. In these challenging economic times, it's always illuminating when you receive acknowledgment and recognition for your work experience and marketable skills. Unfortunately, Robert Half International seemingly likes to dangle an unattainable carrot in front of job-seekers promising you a world of jobs with no professional delivery! In other words, you are LIED to! I was contacted by one of their technology recruiters, Justin Kabalin, by phone regarding my "impressive" resume. By the tone in his voice, I knew the whole standard rear-kissing speech was coming ... When he expressed "MANY" job opportunities were crossing his desk daily and that I fit into most of them, he stated he would be interested in meeting me sometime soon. In a friendly response, I stated I would appreciate being considered for one of those positions but have never, ever heard back from him. I followed-up via e-mails and leaving voice-mail messages, but again, no reply. Perhaps I didn't coddle effectively to him as most of these recruiters seem to enjoy ... I seriously have to question the purpose of these job-placement agencies who almost seemingly enjoy mocking the situation of the jobless or those seriously looking to switch jobs or careers. After performing a background check on Mr. Kabalin (it's nice when you can do a background check on them since you know they will be doing it on you!), I realized I was dealing with an almost freshly graduated college kid with little to no experience (3 jobs in the past 3 years) in understanding the importance of the real world. Such irresponsibility blatantly displayed by Robert Half International is questionable to their integrity as a professional job-placement agency. While these job-placement agents and in-company HR managers EXPECT potential applicants with 2- to 3-plus years experience in prior jobs with little to no time-off inbetween, Robert Half International is ostensibly employing half-baked individuals to man resumes, looking busy by wasting time of actually contacting job-seekers, but cowardly NEVER following-up with any leads. But I guess these recruiters at RHI should be so lucky to continue having jobs as they toy with resumes in hopes of making their quota. read more
