Staffing agencies do not OWN anybody! And threatening the employer with a law suit and harassment if they hire you? That SHOULD be illegal! And I've never heard of an agency that's as ANAL about references as OfficeTeam! They HAVE to be CURRENT references. AND they cannot be volunteer references, they HAVE to be references from PAID positions! Well maybe if they had given me a few more assignments, I would have been able to build UP my references from PAID jobs! And if you see a position on their web site and ask them to send your resume over to the company, the simply will NOT send it over if THEY (OfficeTeam) feels that you're not a good match. THEY make that decision without the company even SEEING your resume! And if you ask them to tell you the name of the company, they will NOT tell you. And you're not even allowed to ask them what they've been doing to help you find work! They say you're being "confrontational". BOY! They REALLY tighten the screws on you! I've been registered with them for well over a year now...if possible, it would be zero stars. I worked an 8-hour Cisco event at AT&T Park, didn't receive a lunch & was underpaid; I had the distinct displeasure of speaking with Mr. Rich Noreen regarding the situation. He was very unprofessional & belittling, stating that we'd sat around for 2 hours (try more like 45 minutes, waiting for our assignments...not my problem, & since WHEN do you get your lunch break before you've worked?!) & that counted as our lunch. I definitely didn't appreciate how he came at me as though he was doing me a FAVOR by not paying me correctly for hours I'd worked. I later responded to one of their so-called evaluation emails, & gave them very low marks regarding the quality of service received. All of a sudden, I receive a call from someone named Gretel, claiming to be upper management & stating that she wanted to talk to me regarding the situation. Well, that did absolutely NOTHING. I expressed how disrespectful, bullying & unprofessional Mr. Noreen was during our call, & felt as thought this went into the ear I was talking into, & out the other. So, seeing that you all apparently hoped I'd simply brush it under the rug, I'm forced to get my Yelp on. No, I'm not going to quibble over the 2 hours pay you cheated out of, but I WILL make sure that you're on blast for being tacky & disrespectful, and for your supposed upper-level management allowing it. Awww, have I been BLACKLISTED?! Since that Cisco assignment, I've been met with absolute SILENCE; I've worked several temp positions here & there previously, & kept hearing from friends of mine (that registered WAY after I did) that had been placed on long-term (18+ months) assignments with a very prestigious bank here in San Francisco. When I email the person Gretel stated was in charge of such positions (as I've worked with her before), I HEAR NOTHING. When I call said person to find out what I can do to be considered for the same, I HEAR NOTHING. Everyone in the world has heard of them so I don't know why they need to call more firms. The employees turn over about every 6-9 months and its like a boiler room from what I've heard. Just like most legal staffing agencies, RHL just wants to collect your resume and employment info so their recruiters can meet their weekly quotas. I was asked to come in for an interview, which lasted only 15-20 minutes because it was like my recruiter's "mission statement" rather than an interview. She didn't care about my skills or career goals, but focused on what she could get out of me---$$$. This "interview" was taken place in March 2009 and I have NEVER heard from them ever since. When I moved to the LA area and asked my SF recruiter to transfer my file to RHL's LA office, she was very UNHAPPY, COLD, and RUDE. Well, she has never ever provided me with descent job info, except whether I would be willing to take an assignment WAY BELOW the market rate. (I, of course, said no to that.) Overall, don't waste your time. RHL's has a poor reputation in the industry. Just google their name and see what people say about RHL. read more

Last 2 jobs had NOTHING to do with my abilities and I tried to tell Rich that but he was thinking more of $$$. A complete scam. They always contact you to say they have some openings but you have to come into their office to discuss. Also, they expect you to give them references so they can call them and harass them to use RH for recruiting. But there are never any jobs it's all a ruse. Avoid and hang up on them. read more

This review is coming from the words of my husband: After a high recommendation from a co-worker, it was suggested I tried them out because they "did her good." I called and set up an interview which, went really well and felt quite positive ON THE PHONE. I went downtown for the interview, copies of resume and references on a zip drive (the printers were closed) in case they needed the resume again and a copy of my references. The recruiter did indeed ask for the references however, did not feel like using the zip drive to obtain them - from what I read below, I'm glad I didn't have my references printed. He spent perhaps 10 minutes with me and the whole time belittling me with a smile on his face. He also made it very clear to me that I was not going to get a job and my resume would be placed last because I went to a 4 year college online (Phoenix University) and not a prestigious 4 year college. The whole thing experience left me feeling utterly useless because of their "down their nose" attitude. Talk about feeling defeated by the people who are supposed to help you! Over all, though everyone was pleasant, they walked around with their noses in the air. The place was thick of arrogance and attitude hidden behind a fake smile. Imagine being told how much you suck for going to an online college with a pretty, polite smile on their face - I was so upset and discouraged that I just wanted to vomit on his desk. How dare you tell me to my face that I'm being put at the end of the list because my college isn't prestigious enough?!? read more

I was a little surprised with the gusto that Robert Half brought to the table. The same day I sent in my resume for a job posting I received a call from Devin Curran. Withing a few days I was in the SF office filling out paperwork and going to interviews. My first interview was set up by Lauren Corcoran. She understood my situation as a commuter\student. With her encouragement I took a job in the city that later brought me on as a full time employee. Lauren is a absolute pleasure to work with. She genuinely values my needs which made working with her so much easier. For anyone looking to work with the company remember this one tip. They will give you the world. You have to be willing to put in just as much effort. Always keep in contact with your rep and make sure your needs are clearly communicated. She was super nice and supportive and made me feel like I had someone on my side. She introduced me to Andrew W. and he told me about a job, and a couple days later I had an interview. Then literally 30 minutes after my interview, Andrew let's me know I got the job! Also, he's super chill and makes you feel comfortable and not just another prospect. They hooked me up with a temp position at the #1 company I wanted to work for, which eventually led up to me getting my dream job. They are relatively friendly and helpful to you if you are one of their workers but can be very unhelpful if they feel you're not what they're looking for. My advice is to score well on the skills tests they give you and be persistent in calling them. read more

OfficeTeam has managed to repeatedly confuse me, as well as hurt my feelings. I have a few years of HR experience, as well as an advanced degree. Yet they kept leading me on, and transferring me from recruiter to recruiter to conduct phone interviews with me, and speak to me about open positions, and then flat out refusing to work with me for extremely minor reasons. 2 of the female recruiters that I spoke with on the phone were extremely pushy, aggressive, and rude. To give you an example: My last position was working for a disorganized security guard company who I felt was not in compliance with labor/benefits laws, didn't treat all their employees fairly and ethically, played favorites, and in general had high turnover and low morale. I was so miserable there, I resigned without giving 2 weeks notice. When I was doing the phone interview with the Office Team/Robert Half Recruiter, she asked me condescendingly if I WAS THE ONE who was let go. Wow, I cannot believe she had the audacity to communicate in that manner. I was honest, and informed her that I was so unhappy with the position, I resigned without notice. She then ran with that piece of information, and told me that UNLESS I had at least 2 MANAGER references, the agency's recruiters could no longer work with me. Now, I have great co-worker references, but because of the circumstances that I previously mentioned with my last employer, I didn't exactly have the manager references. Ok, so i decided to move on, and find a job on my own, or with other staffing agencies that were a bit more understanding and sympathetic of their candidates. Last week, I got an e-mail from OfficeTeam saying that we hadn't spoken in a while, and please contact them to speak about opportunities. So, I did so. The recruiter who had sent the e-mail looked me up, and straight up informed me that they didn't have any opportunities for me in the SF office. So, why send me this e-mail that sounded like they had abundant opportunities? Very disorganized and condescending Office Team is. I happen to be highly educated, sharp, and have some decent experience in HR, yet these guys have managed to make me feel like a complete loser who doesn't need to be treated with any respect. read more

But she told me I don't have a lot of experience , for the jobs I'm looking for . If 8+ experience in on field isn't good enough I don't know what is . I have to agree with the other negative reviews here. My negative review isn't about if they did or didn't find me a job (didn't by the way), it's about the experience I had working with them. I work contract with a company, have a pretty decent gig. There was a short period of time, where a few of my projects were stopped and my hours were really low. I always believe it's a great idea to continuously check the job market just so you're aware of what else is out there, so I decided to see what would happen if I worked with TCG. I submitted a resume, and within 1 hour, I got a phone call. The recruiter was full of very promising things, highly praising my experience because they have SO many jobs that I would be a good fit for, could I come meet with her today. I thought, how awesome, look like the job market has some things I might be interested in taking a look at. So I dropped everything and went in. When I arrived and meet with her, it was obvious she had not looked over my resume before I got there, which I found unusual and annoying, especially since she had so many great things to say over the phone . She kept asking me what companies I would want to work for, then I would ask "well, what companies do you work with?" Never getting her to list one. She asked me to send her information on what I was looking for, so I sent her very detailed information about the kind of job and companies I was interested in. I also asked her a few other questions about how the process worked, and never heard any responses back. The first job they sent me was not even close to what I was looking for, not to mention I was WAY over qualified for the position. I responded to them with that information, explaining again what type of position I was interested in. No response. I've gotten a few other random emails from them with other jobs that aren't related to what I do, or not at my experience level, etc. Overall, I feel like it was basically a waste of time. read more

There are always going to be good and bad reviews for just about anything. I had hoped to have a good experience with the Creative Group but that never materialized. The relationship started out very positive but faded as quickly as it came. They never really understood how my background could be translated into other industries and job descriptions and then they would call with the most obscure jobs. You get the feeling they aren't even listening. I never did get any feedback on why I wasn't getting a call back about a job either. It was probably my age, not 20 something and perky, but they can't say that. I never get feedback from other recruiters either so I guess this is how they are trained. No time or interest in helping make your next experience the one that gets you work. read more

I have been with CG on and off for 4 years. They have always been great at pairing me with a company that I'll fit in with and be happy at, which to me, says a lot. Although it is true that sometimes they do not follow up as much as they could, this should not turn you away from the agency, and following up on the candidate's part is just as important as a follow-up from the agency side. Also-if you are a contract worker, i.e. freelance, it's always good to give face time with your agency or agencies. Checking in is important-they do it for their candidates and it should be reciprocated. Just a tip from someone who has worked with this agency for some time. I've always been very happy with the companies and assignments I've received from CG. read more

This office is the WORST! I've gotten work with Officeteam through offices in Arizona for the last few years and have nothing but good things to say. When I decided to make the move to SF, my recruiter was delighted to tell me that she had a colleague at the branch here and that they'd definitely be able to get me work soon after the move. Unfortunately, her colleague was out on medical leave, but she did leave my information with this branch and the day after I contacted them, I was interviewed. Rich seemed like a nice guy, and after introducing me to the team, seemed genuinely interested in finding me work. A good first impression may be the only thing this branch excels at. After that initial meeting, I never heard from them again without prompting. I tried calling Rich twice, and was told that he was either with a client or in a meeting. A few days later, I tried a different team member, Ally, and was given the same excuse by the receptionist. In my frustration, I called my old recruiter in AZ and asked if this is typical of how Officeteam runs in a bigger city. She assured me it wasn't, and proceeded to contact them herself. Within a half hour, I got a call from one of the team and was told I'd be a good candidate for a couple positions. Really?! It took being scolded from another branch to get a callback? This branch is apparently being run by a bunch of amateurs. After that last callback, I was told that I'd be contacted by the end of the week to interview for those positions. Unsurprisingly, I didn't hear a thing. I did myself a favor and dropped this agency and found one that got me an excellent permanent gig within a month. Thanks for nothing officeteam SF! read more

After reading all of the negative comments I felt compelled to review. I had temped off and on with Office Team from around 1997-ish to around 2006 through both the SF office and the San Bruno office. Office Team saved my @ss so many times when I was unemployed, laid off and when I went back to school. I have worked with Jackie Kim quite a bit and have nothing but nice things to say about her. I thought she was professional, personable and just a generally super nice person and I think I'm usually a pretty good judge of character. I doubt she has changed that much in the past few years. So I'm not sure why so many other people have had negative experiences. Maybe I lucked out? Maybe I had the right skills? I have no idea. Yes I have had bad assignments but I have also had really great ones including well paying long term assignments. Bottom line, if you are unemployed and need work, they will usually find something. It may suck but its better than nothing. It may be awesome with lots of free snacks and getting paid to surf the internet, you just never know. I will continue to recommend Office Team to anyone I know who needs work. read more

I submitted my job profile through The Creative Group website because I was looking for a professional shift in my career into tech and social media. Within a week or two, Kendell contacted me about job opportunities. We met in person, talked about my experience, skills, salary requirements and types of places I wanted to work. She was incredibly understanding and didn't try to push for companies I had no interest in. Kendell calls to check in on my work scope to see if adjustments need to be made and offers advice for career advancement. Plus she's also really fun and easy to talk to. When I initiated my job search in SF, after updating my resume on dice, I was quickly contacted by the technology division of Robert Half. The first person who interviewed me was nice enough, although nothing came of it. The second person, who I'll just call G, was condescending and unprofessional, making a difficult experience more difficult. I ultimately ended up getting a job anyway, but it was certainly not because of Robert Half. Perhaps their office staff recruiting is better, but if you are in IT, find other avenues of employment. I spoke to a recruiter for job he called me about, he was very hostile on the phone. He refused to send me a job description. He said he already told me over the phone and that if I wasn't interested he wasn't going to submit or email me anything. These are his exact words. I said I need to see the job description to see whether the position is the right fit. He said he already told me the job description when I asked him to send it to me. I had to ask as some recruiters have modified the job descriptions, submit me without permission, modify my resume, or I possibly could've submit to the position already. I have also had interviews with company's hiring manager and realized I did not get the full job description or the information the recruiter gave me wasn't complete. This is an embarrassment for me and the recruiter and the agency. I realized why this recruiter was hostile. If you take the job description from any agency and run it through google, it should pull the job up where it is posted. This will give you the name of the company or other agencies filling the position. In this case the direct company has posted the job. So I have to question whether this agency has direct connection to the company to hire for them. Inhouse company recruiters would rather not go through an agency if they are able to find talent directly. He said if he told me the company I would go on the site directly. Well obviously in order to get hired and prepare for an interview I need to know more about the company and the first place to look is the company site. Helpful to contractors: You need to ask about whether they offer benefits and if they suggest 1099 to you, you should know that as a 1099 contractor you can get a higher hourly but you do not get unemployment benefits when the contract ends. It is best to get on a w2 and you will qualify for unemployment and apply regardless of what they say as long as you have finished the contract. The longer the time you work the more unemployment you will get, either from the most recent or previous employer based on the EDD's chart. Yes, you can get unemployment benefits as a contractor if you were on w2 and finished your contract. You should negotiate your rate as some agencies pay better. Also check the exact contract length when you are hired on your timesheet as some will state a time frame but don't tell you it requires renewal so technically it wasn't as long as they originally told you. Your timesheet should show the end of the contract date and hourly. I would not recommend this agency at all to represent you. read more

Just the facts: When I went in to discuss the opportunity, they didn't want to talk to me until I filled out a stack paper work agreeing to sign over my soul (I should have went with my gut and walked out that minute). Then they put me in a back room and left me for 2 hours--as if my time was totally invaluable! I walked out the first time and told the receptionist she was extremely rude for wasting my afternoon (time I had to take off from other work) as she sat there gossiping to 4 other employees. When I finally had a discussion with the agent, all she seemed to do is name drop while trying to convince me I should lower my expectations/rates by nearly 50% while bragging about how busy and connected they are --another waste of my time. Every time I reply about a job the pay rate is absurdly low. ABSURDLY. Like $22 an hour . REALLY? For a creative with 15 years of experience with major "name" corporations...for a contract a major corporation that is hardly in financial trouble? No, they're not asking for 15 years of experience -- but even for 5, that's less than half the money it should be paying . Give me a break. Remember that contractors get no training, NO benefits, or paid holidays, etc., and contracts can be ended with no warning and no severance and no reason ("Oops! I'm over budget for this quarter -- go fire the contractor...") And you could be out of work for a week, two, three or more between contracts...so that hourly rate can't be multiplied by 160 hours a month and 12 months...) . You can make more working as a bartender. If they're so "professional" why aren't they telling their clients that what they're offering is ludicrous, way below the going rates? Or it is that TCG is just asking far too large a cut for themselves? read more

At the time I was looking for a career change and did not know how to get my foot in the door to a career that was completely different from my degree. I submitted my resume to Robert Half and was contacted by Leon Chang. I met with him shortly after and left with a job offer! Since then, Leon has been in constant contact with me with job opportunities, checking in during my assignment and updating me with various assignment details. I just finished a two week assignment and yesterday, I received a call from another recruiter. I have worked with Robert Half companies such as Office Team and Accountemps off and on through the last 20 years. In fact every office job I have had in the last 20 years was temporary to hire through them. I am surprised as anyone to be leaving a substandard review for these folks but here we are... I recently (May 21) started another temporary to hire gig with them for the local office here in Ventura/Oxnard area. After starting the job for RH I was told by the client who I report to, that he told them that they (the client) wanted me to be earning .50 cents more than I am currently making at the position. I didn't know if I could believe what I was hearing and I just assumed that there must have been some miscommunication involved here. After thinking about the .50 cents I was not getting every hour I remembered a strange question that my contact gave me when describing the potential opportunity, "we want to ask the employer for a bit more for you due to your extensive experience," to which I replied no I don't want you asking for more money for me without me being able to prove my skills before they have even had a chance to evaluate my skill level. So that was the first sketchy thing. Knowing, because of my accounts payable experience that they make more an hour off me than I do is probably not helping here. The second sketchy thing was that normally I was getting paid every Thursday evening or Friday until last Friday (July 21). By noon I still had not been paid so on my lunch break I called the local office to talk to my rep. who was not available and then was transferred to someone who explained what happened. Apparently he was the district manager for the local region office and he was the one who approves the payroll even when the client has been unable to so that the candidate (as they call you) will still get paid on time. He apologized profusely and thanked me for not taking it out on him and explained that me and a few other candidates were not going to paid because he missed the deadline due to back to back meetings by just a couple of hours. He literally told me they were aware that our pay was going to be delayed by up to a couple of days and they never bothered to notify us. What the what!?! I happen to know that you can absolutely do a same day ACH payment to your employees so I think the delay must be on their end or they don't want to pay the extra fee from the bank for the same day service. What the Fuck is wrong with people these days? This is how they treat the folks printing money for your organization? Sketchy, sketchy, sketchy... Not a good look especially when you service the Finance/Accounting industry! If you want to work with them in the Ventura/Oxnard area please be advised! read more

These people are awesome! Liz, Elena and Rashan have been nothing but professional. I'm a copywriter and they were honest from the beginning about the opportunities available in a tight market. Despite the slow economy, they found me a position writing marketing copy for a reseller of nationally recognized brands. Once they placed me, they checked to make sure I was happy at my new gig. Feel free to ignore the angry, nasty reviews from last year (and earlier)... people get frustrated in a bad economy, but you can't blame a recruiter for a recession. If you're a talented creative professional with a strong portfolio and a solid work history (and you're not a convicted felon), they'll do whatever they can to find you work.
