If you've ever had a dentist who recommends unnecessary treatment to increase their income at your expense, then you know exactly what kind of dentist Dr. Turchin is.
I came in as a new patient, and was told that ALL of my fillings needed to be replaced, since plaque had gotten in between them and my teeth. When I asked for additional details, the dentist claimed that since the materials of fillings expand at different rates in the heat and cold then the material that your teeth are made out of, plaque can get in between. I never heard of this, and given the somewhat unlikely fact that all 6+ fillings that I had somehow failed at the same time, I decided to ask my dad, who is a cardiologist (a heart doctor, not a dentist), and he said that that didn't sound real to him, so he recommended I get a second opinion. I went to Dr. Jonathon Volinsky, who I did not tell about Dr. Turchins diagnosis. I did the X-ray and everything over, and was informed that I had no cavities and did not need any new fillings. When I asked if there was anything wrong with my fillings, I was told that there was not.
Furthermore, when I initially cancelled my appointments to replace all the fake cavities by leaving a voicemail citing the fact that I had never heard of his explanation for why all my fillings needed to be replaced, I received a callback from a member of his staff who claimed that the REAL problem was that all my fillings were cracked. When I said that this was not what Dr. Turchin had told me, and that it seemed like this was just an attempt to make me change my mind, she simply repeated the claim that he had said something which I distinctly remember he had not, and which Dr. Volinsky also did not agree with.
And this is a minor point, but they kept trying to upsell my on getting a fluoride rinse that my insurance did not cover for adults, only for children. While to their credit, they did warn me that it wouldn't be covered, they kept refusing to take my no for an answer, and repeatedly asked and pressured me 3 more times after the initial ask before they stopped trying to get me to do it. The hygenist who was cleaning my teeth also seemed rather unskilled, as she caused me some pain and was unable to even properly x-ray part of my mouth without the assistance of another of her coworkers, which wouldn't have been that big of a thing if Dr. Turchin didn't claim that she was his most experienced member of staff, which is either inaccurate, or a bad omen for the quality of his staff.
Dr Turchin will give you unnecessary pain and expense to create profit for himself. He is a quack, and you would do well to stay away. read more
