The care and respect I receive from Independence Dental Group is exceptional. After recently moving, I had a dental emergency where a tooth I had crowned elsewhere cracked (whoops my fault!) and they were able to see me immediately. When I arrived via the 61 bus (it is also close to the MFL 8th St stop) I was welcomed and they completed my intake effortlessly. The front desk staff of a practice tells you a lot about the work environment and I ADORE the people here! They ensure they answer all of my questions in a way that's easy for me to understand, including billing and care plans. Dr. Kim, Dr. Gelbert, and all dental assistants that I interact with are exemplary. Everyone is very considerate and puts my comfort above all else. I will be honest: my teeth suck. I have a complicated history with my teeth but their staff have never made me uncomfortable or looked down on me for their imperfections. Staff empowers me to make the best informed decisions by providing all facts and options upfront. This transparency is very important to me. The facility is clean and I find it is comfortable spacious. There is enough privacy between rooms to feel at ease (though it does sound like a "dentists office" if you have auditory concerns). Today, they've completed cleanings, tooth extraction, and the multi-step process for an implant. I am astounded by how quickly they always work and how little discomfort I feel during and after every procedure! It's always a quick trip and rarely inconveniences my daily function. Thank you so much, IDG!

My treatment plan didn't go as discussed.

Beware! My visit with him at his 7th street location now feels rushed. I felt very uncomfortable. He did not take the time to educate me on my health procedure. I tried to be a good patient but he is taking all of my time and money and giving me stress. His new environment has an unprofessional feel. The teeth kept falling out my mouth, it was a total waste of time and money. He was very combative and argumentative and tried to falsely accuse me of being there for pain medicine! Dr. Stephens convinced me to stay and take down all of my negative reviews. He tried to tell me I was a good patient and to stick with him and he would take care of me. He had convinced me it would take time but I ended up in tremendous pain, while he withheld pain medicine from me. I was in so much pain I needed to go to the emergency room. I talked to him before that but he told me to visit him after the hospital gave me pain meds. I went to the office and he tried to get me to sign a form releasing them from any of the trials and suffering they gave me. I refused and he eventually called the police on me. He knows I suffer tremendously not only from the tooth pain but also from anxiety. I just want the work done and he is giving me drama and it is causing me lots of trauma all over again. This is also costing me money, time, and anxiety. Please be aware of what you sign before you become his patient. He keeps accusing me of false claims and I just want my dental work completed. I am tired of going through this and I deserve quality service! By someone who treats me like a person and gives me my rights as a person!

I would advise caution if you are considering returning to the new owners. Though they had my insurance information and it was billed by Dr. Rice's staff previously, they did not give me a heads up that I would not be covered under the new ownership and I have been stuck with a large bill. (Jackie and the office staff are still great). This strikes me as either dishonest or discourteous, and I'm not pleased.

I'd recommend Dr. Rice to anyone who hates going to the dentist (which, I assume, is everyone) and…read morewants no-frills service. Whenever I come in for my for biannual cleaning I'm greeted by the friendly receptionist, promptly taken back for a quick but thorough cleaning by the hygienist Jackie, and given a comprehensive exam by Dr. Rice. Unless you have specific issues that need to be addressed, a typical check-up will last you no more than 25 minutes. As someone who has done a fair amount of dentist hopping due to previous dentists always trying to sell me products, the efficient service of Dr. Rice has been a welcome change. One note about the Yelp check-in offer: you will ALWAYS receive a goodie bag with toothpaste, a toothbrush, and floss after every cleaning, regardless of whether or not you check-in. The receptionist was actually very confused when I showed her the offer on my phone as she had apparently never seen it before. Just know that if you'll always get a goodie bag no matter what you do.

am very saddened and disappointed to have to write this review…read more I saw the Facebook ad and checked out the reviews which were phenomenal plus they provided service to my favorite ballers was an extra plus I figured!! They accepted my insurance and even provided a link for financing for which I was approved for !! I was very impressed with the staff and facilities, this was my dream place... What could go wrong??? Hadeer was very responsive to all my questions via email which meant a lot to me... I was a bit apprehensive about the cancellation policies which varies from a $100 to possible up to $8000 or more if you had to reschedule surgery within a month., I was still willing to take that gamble..however I had a persistent cough from mild controlled COPD and after checking with my Dr, he recommended I get clearance from pulmonologist. They were understanding at first but because I would be under twilight anesthesia for 7 or more hours this posed additional concerns... For instance about the anathesiologist and who would be monitoring me while I am under and even more importantly what kind of plan do they have in place if unforseen complications were to occur. It turns out they do not have a anesthesiologist on staff, never answered the question of if a dedicated and qualified staff member would watch over me and what plan do they in case of emergency... They just ghosted me and stopped taking my calls and responding to emails afterwards., I no longer hold them in high esteem, it's all about the money and prestige but I caution whoever go there for procedures like implants to due your due diligence and ask these hardball questions and note their response.... They did not have care or compassion to tell me I am not their ideal candidate, I would be writing a 5 star review instead. PROCEED with CAUTION or you may pay with your life or health...
