I was refused a refund for the X-rays. I told the office that I wouldn't be coming back. And then I was offered a refund that would be held and applied to my next visit. They were basically holding my refund hostage in exchange for keeping me as a patient. I again said that I wouldn't be coming back and they kept my refund. Bottom line. They don't care about you as a person or patient. They want to keep you coming back so they can continue to bill you. Even when what they do isn't covered by your insurance.

It took more time for me to check in and take off my coat than it took for the hygienist to "clean" my teeth. She didn't even bother to polish every tooth -- I guess the back of every third one counts. I was also told not to come back unless I would agree to a deep cleaning. Considering the non-existence of a regular cleaning, I can only guess how shallow the deep must be. Guess the search for a good dentist continues.

As someone who has done a fair amount of dentist hopping due to previous dentists always trying to sell me products, the efficient service of Dr. Rice has been a welcome change. One note about the Yelp check-in offer: you will ALWAYS receive a goodie bag with toothpaste, a toothbrush, and floss after every cleaning, regardless of whether or not you check-in. The receptionist was actually very confused when I showed her the offer on my phone as she had apparently never seen it before. So I did some asking around since I know some folks that have worked there in the past. Apparently turnover is incredibly high, as at least 5 people have resigned in the past 6 months. There isn't much communication as an entire team, which is obviously a problem with such a small office. Doctors are passive-aggressive to the employees they don't like. They use ableist language and get weirdly upset when people take sick days. Also, there have been microaggressions against Black and Brown staff members. I know 3 people who have worked under these doctors, and it sounds like they do great work, however I'll NEVER support an office that treats their staff so terribly.
