These people sent a text message confirming for today, Saturday at 11 to 3. I got a phone call from someone in the office to confirm the appointment for today, but she changed the time and said that it would be from 11 to 5 after that, they went home at 12 could not get a hold of anyone. No one called to confirm my appointment the technician never checked in with me to confirm my appointment. They just left me sitting in a smothering 90° house. I was totally pleased at the quick response and the professionalism of the repairman who came out within 24 hrs. of the call during the hottest day we've had so far this Summer. I watched him (in the background), asked all kinds of questions that I thought might be useful to me for future problems (old unit). This is the second time in two weeks that we've had to call them out, and he just keeps explaining that it's everything else. It's 81° in my house for the last four days and he didn't do a thing. He tried to tell me my AC was working. I then asked him to explain to me why it was 81° in my house and it's set on 74°. He said he wanted to try to explain it to me in a scientific way. Hello, Earlier this July, one of our AC units was broken (2nd-floor unit) while the temperature outside was at 105-110F constantly maintained in most of Texas. Yep, not the right time at all. I called my CHOICE home warranty, and they assigned Robert & Sons to do the initial assessment. The initial diagnosis was to replace the evaporator coil. But, CHOICE mentioned that our condenser (outside unit) is an old one, and it has to be replaced to comply with the state requirement. So, I paid CHOICE to replace the Condenser, and they provided Robert & Sons at a pre-negotiated cost for the labor to complete the entire installation (installing the Condenser and evaporator Coil). Robert sent his team to complete the work. But, even after the installation of the new unit, my cooling inside was not able to catch up with the heat outside as it was constant 105-107 throughout the month. I called CHOICE again, but no use. According to CHOICE, their money was paid for the condenser, and they told me that the condenser was replaced, so their work is complete. They did not care if it fixed the original problem that I complained about. They simply asked us to call the manufacturer, even though I bought the unit from the CHOICE warranty. This is where I should extend my heartfelt thanks to Robert, and his entire crew, who stood by us the entire time (YES. This issue took almost 2 full months for the closure), and tried out all permutation combinations to resolve the cooling problem, as it was hard because the readings were showing correct metrics. With no help from my warranty people, though under pressure, Robert and his team kept their cool, and courteousness, as he understood the helpless situation, and our frustrations with the way CHOICE warranty complicated the problem. His team attended to the problem untiringly (we literally stopped counting the visits to my house), and finally fixed the problem. They found out the evaporator coil provided by the CHOICE warranty did not match up with the furnace, so the output was blocked or not blowing the cool air. Finally, Robert took care of replacing it with the correct evaporator coil and that brought the closure to the problem. During this whole time, it was Robert's crew i.e., Hector (technician) and Raes (installation), who worked so hard under Robert's leadership. Despite the challenges, It is the work ethic and honesty that truly matter most. While It is applicable to all industries, more especially it is highly important for the service industry. As a consumer of the service, it is equally important to recognize the commendable job and the hard work shown by the team through these open forums. So, we took this opportunity to extend our heartfelt THANKS!!! to the entire team for their phenomenal work at my home. We will recommend Robert & Sons absolutely for any of the HVAC issues/needs. This company came out from our home warranty co. Compressor out. Told it could take 2-3 weeks!!!! It was Friday and they did not submit findings to warranty till Monday afternoon and then they where incomplete. Call Home Depot they came out that day and replaced unit next morning. We called them through our home warranty and couldn't be happier. We have 2 AC units and called them out to check on one of them that was randomly shutting off. He discovered the drain line was clogged triggering an auto shut off and had the problem fixed in no time. We asked them to double check our second unit and they were able to catch a few problems on a faulty installation before they became bigger. We did have a small issue where a line wasn't reconnected, but the technician came out within an hour of us letting him know and got it fixed. The disconnected line did cause some water spots, but the owner was able to get a second technician to come double check the work and painters out to fix the water spots very quickly. These things can happen anytime, but to have the owner so proactively fix it without having to chase them down was more than appreciated. We will definitely continue to use this team and refer them to anyone looking for help. 5 stars all the way! read more

I bought a new HVAC system from Sears, and Robert Sons A/C & Heating was the contract installer who drove all the way to the other side of Waco, Texas for the install. They arrived on-time and were very well-organized. Robert explained what type of system we were getting (I already knew, but it was nice for the refresher) and after examining our residence structure and how it was all laid-out, he explained the work they would be doing. Throughout the time they were here, Robert, Bobby, and the rest of the 4-man crew were nothing but courteous and polite. They disrupted the goings-on at our home as little as possible - if at all. They kept their work-areas clean and answered all of my questions. At the end of the installation and after making a very thorough check and double-check of the system and how it affected and improved each room in the house, Robert and his men picked up EVERYTHING - inside and out - that was left from my old system and the packaging of the new one, they swept and vacuumed each work space and left my carpet cleaner than it was before in those areas. I do not know who the other reviewers used - I cannot see that it was these guys. If I lived closer to Dallas, these would be my go-to AC guys. read more

First American Home Warranty sent them out to check my air on Wednesday. They said the coil had to be replaced and some modifications and updates. Warranty paid for the coil and I paid $1435.00 for the updates and modifications. The work was done Thursday afternoon but Thursday night the house was still hot. I called Friday and they sent someone out Saturday morning to repair. They recharged the outside unit. Five hours later the house is still hot. I will call again on Monday morning. I was also told that I would get an itemized statement from the installers when work was complete. I did not get that. I will also ask again for that. We were assigned Robert and Sons by First American Home Warranty. If you have a heating / AC problem, First American will probably assign you North Star Mechanical first. You must request Robert and Sons. Turn down North Star at all costs. I spent 16 days trying to get North Star to fix a simple problem: Control board needed replacing. They ended up refusing to do the work, and they also cashed my check without doing any work. Avoid North Star and see my yelp review on them for the full picture (it might be in the 'non recommended' reviews). Anyways, Tom from Robert and Sons came out and immediately diagnosed the same problem: control board needed replacing. He had a universal on his truck and did the work in about 10 minutes. Not only did he do that but he fixed a broken cut off switch, and diagnosed the gas pressure was too high just from hearing the thermostat cycle. And he didn't even charge me for these 2 extra things. Now my furnace runs perfectly and we finally have heat. If I could go back in time, I would request Robert and Sons from First American Home Warranty in place of North Star and the problem would have been fixed immediately. I can't even begin to explain how hard it has been to get someone to fix our furnace through the warranty. I could have saved about 16 days of frustration if I knew to request R&S and turn down North Star. Plus I was halfway in the attic with Tom while he was fixing it and he explained to me how everything worked together and was talkative and very nice. Not once did he try to get me to accept some extra work that wasn't covered by warranty unlike North Star. The North Star tech would not stop about extra things "not up to code" and "maintenance" and none of it was covered by the warranty of course. In the end North Star refused to replace the only thing broken (control board) and wouldn't do the work unless they could replace the whole furnace which would have been thousands not covered by the warranty. I can't thank Robert and Son's enough and thank you Tom for being so nice and fixing the problem very quickly. And I almost forgot, he showed up right on time at the beginning of their 12 - 4pm window. Best experience I ever have had with Heating / AC company. read more

As I write this review I am reminded of how important customer service and truth are. Sticking to the facts and not assumptions I can say that Robert and Son seemed to be a reputable company of honest individuals. I was wrong. My technician was Hector. Hector came to my home after receiving notification from my home warranty company, regarding my A/C not functioning properly. My home has two units, upstairs and downstairs. Hector took one look at my downstairs condenser unit without checking and told me that due to the leak he was condemning. Never once did he come in and check the unit, nor did he check the temperature coming from the vents with the laser. I told Hector the downstairs until is not the issue, but the upstairs unit is. Hector did not listen. He focused on condemning the downstairs unit. When I mentioned the upstairs unit, Hector told me that this unit was dirty and needed to be cleaned and he could clean for $300.00. He then tells me that I would NOT be able to purchase the chemical because it's for licensed HVAC professionals. I asked the brand and he told me Viper. I pulled the same product up on Amazon and showed him. He smiled and asked if I wanted him to clean. I told him no thank you! I called and had another HVAC professional come out to clean and they pull out the same product, cost $100.00. One-third the price of Robert and Son. It gets better, once cleaned I ask my warranty company to call Robert and Son back out. Hector comes back and tells me that I need refrigerant. My question, why didn't you add this the first time? "Your unit was dirty!" Okay, Hector... I asked will the unit work now that refrigerant is added? Yes! 24-hours pass and my upstairs is still 83 degrees. I call home warranty back and ask that Robert and Son come back out. Hector calls me the morning of my appointment and advise that I'll have to pay another $85.00, I advise him to check his paperwork, as this is a continuation of a service not solutioned. He tells me that the unit is NOT going to operate that way that I want it to. As this point I am totally confused. I pay for a service and have gone back and forth, paying for service deductibles, only to be told that my system is not going to work the way it's expected to. So, my thought is "why not condemn it, like you did the downstairs u it that is working?" Nevertheless, I call Robert and Son and ask that Robert call me. The young lady answering the call tries to rush me off the line and I tell her "do not rush me off the line!" I call home warranty back and advise them of my displeasure. Something tells me to ask home warranty to call Robert and Son for their status. Home warranty asks me if I was rude to the young lady and advised that Robert and Son would no longer service my home due to my rudeness. Let's be clear, home warranty asked for a detail of findings for all of the visits and protocol of how Hector determined his diagnostic. Robert and Son no longer wants to service my home because they did not properly diagnose my units and now that home warranty is questioning this coincidentally they no longer want to service... Sad thing is home warranty sent another vendor, same day, and their diagnosis is the following: old unit that is not producing the way homeowner expects, forcing the lower unit to work harder that expected, while upstairs unit is not working. This forces the heat to stay trapped upstairs, as heat rises. Recommendation is to replace upstairs unit with an upgrade credit issued courtesy of the home warranty. Now couple questions: I thought the downstairs unit was condemned? Why is it working hard to cool the entire house, if condemned? Why didn't Robert and Son advise of the upgrade credit? Seems like they were content with continuing to put bandaids on the real condemned unit. Now, everything is say here is a fact, no assumption. If you choose to do business with Robert and Son, ask questions! Confirm your understanding and pray that they relay the same information to your home warranty. Hold them accountable! Beware! They were assigned to me thru my Home Warranty. Installed new coil, and used compressor. Gave me 6 months warranty on compressor. In just a few weeks started to have problems/leakage from compressor. They came out "fixed" it. Few weeks later, problems same issue again. Setup appointment again, but they never showed up, said they called me and and i didn't pickup the phone which they never did and wanted to setup another appt for weeks later. Had to pay from my own pocket to get it "fixed" and 2 months later i'm having problems again and now will have to replace it. Looks like sold me a Piece of junk compressor/condenser. Nevertheless that company's technician came and stayed only 10mims, told me it was fixed, it wasn't fixed at all. I then got in touch with Robert & Sons A/C & Heating, the owner Robert had someone out to my home later that day, and forgive me I can't remember the technicians name, but he got here fast and found the problem and fixed the problem perfectly. STAY AWAY FROM THIS A/C COMPANY! Here is my story of Robert & Sons A/C: I called my Home Warranty Company because my downstairs HVAC was not working properly. Hector from Robert & Sons came out and told me that I was low on refrigerant. He told me he would replace and after this is when it all went sideways. Hector told me that my A/C drain pan in the attic was rusting and he recommended replacement for $950 to prevent water damage. He also said that my the outside unit was working too hard but they sell a proprietary suppressor that makes the A/C run better. I gave him the go ahead for the drain pan (to avoid water damage) but declined the suppressor. After about and hour Hector shoved his phone in my face and demanded payment for $1,500. I asked what it is this for and he told me the drain pan and the suppressor. I said, "I told you I never authorized the suppressor." He said condescendingly "I'll take it out!" I said "go ahead, I never told you to put that in anyways." As Hector was removing the suppressor I was sitting in my living room and to my amazement water started dripping down from my living room ceiling (recently painted and textured) onto my leather couch. Hector said there must have been water in the drain pipe he just cut and asked me for paper towels. After 5-10 minutes of water pouring onto my couch and floor he said he couldn't get to all of it and ran to his van for a sawzall to cut open my attic to get to the water. At this point I was done. The very thing I paid Robert and Sons (Hector) to prevent ($950), they caused. Water damage to my attic, ceiling and living room couch and floor. The owner Robert called me shortly thereafter and asked me to send him an estimate for repair in which I did. My contractor came out, inspected the damage and provided a written estimate for repair. I sent Robert the estimate and soon received a call saying he would not repair the texture damage because he believes it was pre-existing and that he would hire his own painting guy to repair. I told him, "No, I was want my ceiling repaired back to what it was prior to Hector's work and from the contractor who just painted my ceiling a month ago." He refused and hung up on me (twice!) Suffice it to say..... STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY, run as fast as you can! Find a reputable company who stands behind their work and provides decent customer service. read more

I don't leave reviews, but I felt compelled to do so in this instance. After reading the reviews of this company I was extremely concerned about what my warranty company was getting me into. I believe my technician's name was Tim, and he showed up within the window provided from the warranty company. He did everything I could have reasonably expected and repaired both of our a/c units. I know this one review doesn't disprove anyone else's experience, but I absolutely can attest to the fact that Tim(?) from Robert and Sons was outstanding in doing the work, providing me with information, and being more than pleasant to deal with. On December 27, I had my air handler replaced by this company. Every since the replacement, the airflow in my house has been very light. They also left the Freon in our AC short 2 pounds. I had to call another company out to fix it. I was made aware that Robert and Sons Ac should have come back out when it was warmer to test the coolness of the air. There's no way to get a good read in December for cold air. To top it off, I called today to see if they could come check to make sure all of the ductwork was connected properly and the lady wanted to charge me another service call and not make an effort to make things right from the first service.
