Could be better... So when deciding what to have for lunch in Shawnee, I pulled up Yelp. Not only was Robb's Smokehouse really close, it had a 4.5 star average rating. Thinking that must be pretty good, I read the reviews. The pictures all looked fantastic. Even my pictures made people drool via snapchat. However, the pictures are very deceiving. The food was average at best. The potato was supposed to have everything. It didn't look or taste like it had sour cream and butter. The cheese was literally a slice of American cheese. You could see the clear corners unevenly melted. The rib dinner: I had ordered a rib sandwich $4.99, and two side $1.99 each. She recommended that instead I get the jr dinner for $8.99. No savings. Idk why. The jr dinner comes with one slice of bread. a sandwich that does not make. The chopped brisket sandwich was supposed to have onions. Nope. The beans tasted like run of the mill canned beans. Don't get me wrong. Nothing wrong with canned beans. But I could buy that and eat at home for a lot less. At least there was no line at 12:00 noon. read more

I just went through the drive thru and got the half chicken and a side of potatoe salad. The chicken is very dry. I will never get their chicken again. My son ordered a spud with just butter, cheese and sour cream they used sliced cheese and it didn't even melt so my son had to go home and microwave it. Just wasn't impressed. read more

I'm going to echo other reviews. Meat is decent, sauce is good, and that's about it. Smoked super spud, just a baked potato, a slice of yellow cheese, meat on top, sauce. Nothing else, no sour cream, no pickles, no bread. My son ordered a Polish sausage, that's all he got, a link wrapped in foil, and he also ordered a side of beans, he got a sample sized cup of canned bbq beans. Robb's is truly my favorite BBQ place in the world. I used to get a Polish every time my mom went grocery shopping, when it was a little kiosk in the entryway of the old Homeland. I've lived out of state for a long time, but I still crave Robb's frequently. Each time I'm back in OK visiting family this is my first stop, my second stop, my third stop, and my last stop. The staff is friendly and patient, the brisket is smokey and delicious, the sausages are top notch, and the super spud is something HOLY! In fact, I just created this account to make this one review. The BBQ actually tastes like BBQ!!! The smoke flavor is FANTASTIC here! Being a huge fan of BBQ my husband and I finally tried Robbs out and were so glad we did! While it's not blow your mind amazing it is by far the best we've had in Shawnee. The sides are also pretty good making this out new go to place for BBQ. read more

I usually am very pleased with Robbs, but tonight I was not. The young man who took my order was very unpolite. He didn't seem to care about his job or his customers. The music was in between stations and we could hear all three of them laughing and cutting up from the dining room. So very unpleasant atmosphere! Robb"s Smokehouse in now a Shawnee institution that started as "Robb's Ribber" in the parking lot of a Shawnee Grocery Store. In fact, one of his Smoke Shacks still says Robb's Ribber. It is no wonder that he moved to his current location a number of years ago because of the demand for his always delicious food. Since the move, having fans lined up at the door is not uncommon and he probably prepares more catered meals than the other Barbecue Restaurants in the area combined. His business is also aided by being on the Southeast edge of Oklahoma Baptist University. What can one say about his Barbecue other than delicious! If there is one suggestion that could be made it would be for a third sauce that is really a "Fire Breathing Dragon" variety. Try Robb's once and you will be back many times. read more

Rob's is another one of those places that isn't perfect, a little run down, but oh my goodness do they know how to make barbecue. None of this fancy pants northeastern pork nonsense, but good 'ol fashioned Oklahoma beef. The smoked super spud is awesome. A must when I am in town. Picked this place because of the high rating, but I don't have much to say about it. We were there during spring break and the place was empty aside from us. First of all, the barbecue sauce was great. Two varieties, regular and "hot hot hot" according to the bottle, but my group couldn't tell much difference between the two. I had the regular brisket sandwich and the meat was tasty, but extremely dry. It needed a lot of barbecue sauce just to eat it without choking :| And I don't like things doused in barbecue sauce. Another person in my group had the smoked chicken which he said was tasty, but also dry. You might be able to chalk that up to it being chicken. Another person had the ribs and -- you guessed it -- dry. I don't know if it's the norm for this place or if we had the luck of getting some food that had been sitting in a warmer for some time. I'd like to give the place the benefit of the doubt, but nothing about my experience was exceptional. Oh, and several of the tables were dirty. And, again, we were the only people there the entire time. They should have been cleaned. I would give the place 2 stars, but the barbecue sauce earned it an extra one. read more

On our last trip through Oklahoma from Connecticut, we stopped here and were blown away by the taste!! Today, traveling through OK again my wife remembered and we stopped again. Wow. I went here for brisket because they are the highest rated in Shawnee and I only had one night left... and just wow. The brisket quality is good, the smoking is better, and the sauce is absolutely the best I've ever had anywhere (and I've probably tried 20 ish spicy brisket sauces in my time). This is a jem! Not fancy. Very clean, very friendly, excellent ribs. Just the right amount of smoke. Great sauce. Menu consists of what can go in the smoker. Ribs, brisket, chicken, hot links, and yes smoked spud. sandwichs made with the above. Beans, slaw, potato salad. You won't find anything fried. But you won't miss it a bit. Really amazing bbq. I ordered the regular dinner and chose ribs with potato salad and bbq beans. It was enough for me, my teen daughter and my toddler son. My oldest son got the regular brisket sandwich. It was enough to fill a teenage boy and very well priced. My toddler said said "they were yummy to me" that's high praise. I wish I hasn't been so hypnotized by the food as I didn't think to take any pictures until it was half gone. read more

I'm not from Shawnee and was just visiting and came to Robb's our of sheer desperation b/c we were starving after a long work day. This was hands down the best BBQ I've ever had in my life. The brisket was literally falling apart and the sauce is the perfect amount of tangy and sweet. Coleslaw was fantastic and super fresh. Smoked spud was super good with actual real bacon. Sweet tea was fresh brewed and the right amount of sweet. The staff were incredibly friendly and super helpful. 10/10 recommend this place. Came here after watching an episode of former women's head basketball coach, John McCollugh's tv show. I've lived in the Shawnee area for years and have been looking for a solid and consistent BBQ spot. Hands down the best in the area. Super spuds. Did Robb sell out? I live in Seminole and drive to Shawnee for these ribs. Read a tiny sign that stated they gave a discount for paying in cash, but if you use a cc the actual price is 3.5% higher than what is advertised. Okay, didn't see that until after I paid with a cc. When I received my polish sandwich, it was wrapped so tight in the foil the bun was squished. Of course it didn't help to have so much mustard poured on it either. Got home and found the container didn't fit the sack and everything has slid to one side. That makes a nasty pile of cole slaw and beans. To top it off they had slathered the sauce on the ribs instead of in a small container. I can't eat a lot of sauce so I am sol. Thanks robb...I won't be back. read more

Drove across the country and found this BBQ joint. BEST by far. Ordered the Stuffed Spud (hands down-amazing), beef brisket with slaw, brisket dog and ribs. All of our order was delicious, and to top it off the service was great!!!! read more

Ripped me off, going through the drive-through, girl charged nine dollars on my card for a plain potato, didn't notice the charge till I got home, came back and they refused to refund me the difference, I even showed the receipt,been eating there since they were at Pratts 20 years ago, spent thousands of dollars at robs and they threw a customer away over six dollars, sad! Best bbq in Shawnee, best bbq sauce. The super spud is great, smoked sausage is great, smoked chicken is great. The reasons it doesn't get 5 stars from me is that... -I wish they had more side options as I am not crazy about coleslaw or their potato salad. The beans and spuds are good, but I don't wanna get that every time. -There isn't a pulled pork option, which is weird considering the decor is all pigs. -The Christian music playing inside is a bit of a turn off.
