When I was making my way east along I-40, I passed the cattle feed lot west of Amarillo TX. After seeing the high density cramped quarters and smelling the awful stench, let me tell you, I swore off beef then and there! Well, that was four hours back and 300 miles under my tires. That, along with my short memory, is when I saw the sign for Robertsons. Time for a bite to eat. I pulled off the highway and into a gravel parking lot. There before me was a rustic looking building that looked like it was in serious need of some paint. But, as they say, dont judge a book by its cover. It's what's on the inside that counts. Besides, a little weathered wood just adds to the ambiance. Don't get fooled by the face of Robertsons. The heart beats soundly. When I went inside, I noticed that the chalkboard menu had a number of different offerings. It was when I saw BBQ beef that I knew that I had to give it a shot. The memory of the feedlot had long since faded. As did the stench of the cattle wallowing in their own filth. But hey, didn't I mention that it's what's on the inside that counts? Well, I found that the inside of a bovine can barbecue up quite nicely. I got the bbq sandwich, and it was superb. You should get one, or maybe even two! Quick Tip: If you're tempted to get gas at the Loves next door, don't. Go to the next exit and buy your gas at Stuckeys. It's like 20 cents a gallon cheaper. The money you save will help pay for your sandwiches. Or that Pecan Log Roll if Stuckeys draws you inside. read more

Driving across the country , I always try to stay away from the chain restaurants that I can eat at while at home. The billboards along I-40 certainly reeled me in. I had the pulled pork sandwich, added a little bbq sauce, I was home. The meat was flavored really nicely even before adding the amount of bbq sauce that I wanted! Well worth the stop. I also purchased a package of their traditional beef jerky, which isn't my favorite, but I like a softer jerky - I am certain many others love it. This sandwich shop is off the 40 in Oklahoma, well known for its ham sandwiches, and I can tell you they are tasty! Inside has a country feel to it. There's plenty of homemade items to purchase as you can see from the pictures. I had to buy some Hogs Bane bbq sauce, can't wait to get home and try it. I had the Country Boy sandwich, which was simple but sooo tasty, layered thick with sliced ham and salami/sausage, with a brick of white cheese in the middle. Oh my word. I'm SO glad I followed the highway signs to this place. I drive across the country in my van quite often, so I'm always looking for some go-to food stops along my most-traveled roads. If you're on Route 66 (I-40), this is a gem! They've got some local goods that are affordable prices and perfect for souvenirs. The meat is AMAZING. I am primarily vegetarian, but that thinly sliced turkey is STILL on my mind, three weeks later. The sandwich comes with just cheese, meat, and bread. No condiments, but they have SEVERAL condiments to choose from, and use at your leisure. I chose the jalapeño mustard and some simple mayo. It was so good!! I stopped here for lunch while on the interstate between Oklahoma City and Muskogee. ...of course YELP was off line for maintenance so I wasn't able to check-in and share at the time... This is a unique nitch on the Seminole Nation of Oklahoma. While they do have the typical souveniors, home canning foods and stuff...they have a small but worldy famous meat market. I stopped for a quick and easy lunch...ham sandwich ...sliced right there...potato salad and a bottle of water. They also have turkey, beef and pork. This isn't fast food...if you want that then get back on the highway and watch for McDonalds. What you will get here is a nicely sliced meat piled onto sandwich bread or a bun if you prefer. There is a nice condiment counter...mustards, mayo, etc. You can take your lunch to go or sit in the dining area at a table and chair...take a load off while you enjoy your meal. We've seen signs advertising this little place for years as we raced back and forth on 1-40 and never stopped. I regret that now. Today, we're stressed for time but hungry, so we stop. "Honey, can you just get some sliced meat and so on that we can snack on as we drive?" "Sure!" And in I go. The delightful lady--whose name I forgot to ask!--was very patient with me as she put together a nice variety of sliced meat--summer sausage, smoked turkey, and some AMAZING ham. It's all delicious and I appreciate that she was sharper than me, including mustard, mayonnaise, and a plastic knife for our 75 mph rolling picnic. Not only that, but prices are VERY reasonable! Next time through these parts, we'll stop for longer so we can go in and truly enjoy. The place is just fun to look at, sparkly clean, and I loved that they are able to post a copy of the Ten Commandments behind the counter. Eastbound out of OKC on I-40? As we were going to Oklahoma for Christmas we seen the signs & drove by but then we made a u-turn being we seen then had smoked bacon. We drove 10 miles back & got 3 pounds & boy were we glad we did. Unbelievable that your employees, a group of teenagers, are not wearing gloves nor wearing masks. A customer called them out as we were leaving and we threw our sandwiches away. I hope this place never changes a thing. It is my very favorite place to stop on Oklahoma road trips, and I feel like it gives me a little taste of what life might have been like in a more simple time, and it is so much more pleasant than a gas station or McDonalds stop. All of the Robertson's are spotlessly clean, and the staff is always friendly, as though they actually appreciate your business. The restrooms are nice and at least this location has recently had a nice update to the restrooms. So, on to the food! Don't skip the jerky, but that's your road snack. Just put that aside for now. If you're heading to visit a friend, take them some honey, or some salsa, or some of the other yummy canned good. Don't show up empty-handed, now! If it's morning, get either a sausage and cheese or an egg and cheese biscuit. In fact, get two, because they are little and cute, and so good. And by the time you realize you want another one, well, you're already five miles down the road. If it's lunchtime or later, get a great ham and cheese sandwich (or two) and just enjoy some delicious, delicious Americana! read more

Stopped here on the way back from Davis. They are a great place to stop for road travelers. You can munch on Beef Jerky all the way home! I had never been to anyplace like this in my life when I first stopped here. I was with my friends who love their beef jerky. They have lots of other meats though. I happen to love Pepperoni slices. That's my thing and there's much variety here plus the staff are warm and cool as anything. The smell of meat will hit you pretty quickly and I would suggest you take at least a few minutes to look around before making a selection..because you may want more than one thing. Customer service is excellent. It is "Western style" beef jerky, with old-fashioned seasonings (and no added soy sauce or sweet teriyaki flavorings). The beef jerky was delivered promptly to my home in secure packaging, by the U.S. Postal Service. The beef jerky is thinly sliced and crisp; and the seasonings were excellent. It tasted great and I plan to order more Robertson's Real Beef Jerky in the future as gifts for friends. [Note: The only reason I deducted 1 star is due to the higher-than-average price. We love the sliced meats, cheeses, honey, jams etc. What I don't love is the employee handled the meat bare handed then took our money then wiped the counter and NEVER washed her hands. This happened the last time we stopped there too...am I still going to eat it? Yes after I cook it some!!! Will I stop again? Yes but I will ask them to wear gloves!!! Saw a billboard for this place while doing a road trip across America. Famous ham sandwiches & jerky sounded interesting so we stopped for gas at Love's & then headed over to Robertson's for a ham sandwich & WOW!!! Just plain sliced ham on white wonder bread, they have options of miracle whip, hot mustard & tomato relish on a condiment bar, but that's it. & IT WAS GREAT! This ham sandwich needed no fanciness to take away from the great flavor. We also picked up jerky for the trip & it was dry & crispy until you put it in your mouth & it just melted away. The service from the tall red head was EXCELLENT & we even came in ten minutes after close! This is a great little shop. It has a very nice small town atmosphere. It is quick, but a nice break from fast food while on the road. They have great sandwiches with fresh meat and cheese. They also sell fresh beef jerky, home made jams and jellies, and honeys. I will update this when I try my jam! I also got some pecan pralines. Bought some salsa and chow chow to take home and really it was just ok . Found the same if not better in a grocery store for a normal cost.
