I entered into a 12-month contract with Orkin about 11 months ago. Their technician would rarely…read moreshow up within their specified window. When they were late they wouldn't contact me to let me know. On at least three occasions, they would notify me at the end of the day around 6 pm that they would need to reschedule because they weren't able to make it to my home. On one occasion they arrived and I had another landscape vehicle in the driveway and the technician just left without asking me or the contractor who was here to move their vehicle. These guys are completely unreliable. When they would finally arrive, the technician was unhelpful, inept, lazy and wouldn't spend more than 10 minutes here. There would be tons of cobwebs and spider nest that were never touched. After complaining multiple times, a different technician finally showed up and it took him more than two hours to combat our spider nest problem because the prior technician had neglected it so badly. Do not do business with them. Trust me. When I called to cancel my service, they said they were not going to charge me a cancellation fee because I was still with in the 12-months. Gee, thanks. I wouldn't have cancelled if you actually had done what you promised to do in our contract.

There are two reasons why I'm giving them a 2-star review…read more 1) Prior to signing up with Orkin, we'd been receiving services from another pest control company who'd been unable to eradicate a clover mite infestation on our property. As such, I wanted to make sure that Orkin would actually be able to handle this problem, and I was assured by Orkin customer service that they could. As it turns out, however, they were able to do even less than the previous company we'd been receiving services from, and ironically, the infestation actually worsened after Orkin came into the picture. 2) After coming out for the initial appointment and a follow up appointment (a total of two appointments), our pest control technician dropped off the face of the earth and completely stopped responding to our calls. After the follow up appointment, I was left in the dark as to when he was planning on coming back, so I gave him a call and left him a voice message. After a week had passed without receiving a call back, I AGAIN called and left another voice message. After waiting a few days and again not receiving a return call, I called their main office and asked to speak with the manager. Now, here's the reason why I'm giving Orkin two stars instead of just one. Their manager was very friendly, polite, and professional. He explained to me why Orkin was unable to handle the problem, which essentially comes down to WA state regulations on the types of chemicals they're allowed to use. That said, it's unfortunate that this hasn't been explained to me by their customer service when I'd initially signed up for services, and it's also unfortunate that their technician decided to completely ignore his customers for literally NO reason at all.

The initial assigned person promised how their bait and strategy is advanced and even have a entire village built to test the poison bait, DO NOT TRUST any of that. I paid $100/month not including several hundreds of dollars in the initial service, all they did is come and replace bait station, when asked to do more to put it under control, the only thing they did is to put snap trap inside the station, nothing more after that. they killed probably 6(visible ones) or so rodents through half year of service, i did that myself within a week with snap trap and poison. Then winter came, the rodent activity got worse, got like 8 rat holes and a collapsed stone tiles. And i told them i saw a rat peaking outside the hole the other day, and the onsite dude told me it could be anything, and if i don't take a picture of it, they wouldn't trust what i said. i mean i subscribed them for the exact service and there are holes all over a corner of my fence, do i look like i subscribed and paid $100/month for fun? Most of all, this is no way to talk to a customer, it takes years to build a trust, and only 1 second to destroy. I was willing to give them 1-2 month to give them one more try, but the dude just told me i should cancel it which i did. and the dude ended up taking away all my bait stations, including ones i owned myself, i thought i paid hundred of dollars in the initial service to get those bait station and baits and $100 per month for those. This is a company that you pay money to them for a service, and they spend more time telling you what you need to do than do it them.

We'd dumped about all the Raid under the sun at them with no effect. We called to explain the situation and AAA recommended that, given our living arrangements, it would be more convenient and effective if we used different products to take care of the problem ourselves. About a year later now and I haven't seen a single roach since. These folks really have the customer's best interest at heart which I find rare in this day and age. I know I'll be going back to AAA should I have any future pest infestations.

I ONLY wanted the rat boxes done and repeatedly stated to the company that did not want chemicals sprayed around the house. I would tell the workers this the day before to remind them and they still could not follow that simple instruction. Less work right? So, they screwed up many times. The final time was December with another new guy showed up the day after I reminded him, in writing, not to spray chemicals. Guess what, they showed up the next day WITH A SUPERVISOR, and proceeded to spray chemicals all around my house. They also put GLUE traps in my crawl space without asking and I never would have authorized that. I decided to cancel my contract AFTER that and called the company running the comcast-like gauntlet of 'what if we gave you this or that credit'. I declined and asked to cancel and they removed my credit card. I was not informed of any remaining balance. After that, they sent me a bill for the service that they once again screwed up. Keep in mind I paid full price to these guys for years just to have the rat boxes done so I was grossly overpaying and they got way more out of me than they put in. I called them to dispute the bill, they said they would call me back after running up the chain. They didn't. Instead they insist I owe them money for a SERVICE THEY CONTINUALLY SCREWED UP. They are an extraordinarily incompetent company that can't follow simple instructions.
