    Pelicans that steal tarpon food

Kinda cool, a real dive that attracts tourists. The drips from the ceiling always find a way into your drink. I definitely wouldn't eat there, but feeding the Tarpon was pretty cool.

    A & B Marina - Dockmaster's Offices

    A & B Marina

It's also in the heart of a regular restaurant row, which restaurants are all, as is typical with Key West, very good. Their charges run about $3.50/foot/day, with adjusted monthly rates as well as having some season adjustments. You can phone them or hale them on VHF 16 for instructions then go in and register with the dockmaster at his offices in what is a rather nifty architectural take of a New England like navigational house. I'm happy to report that the staff of A & B are not only really helpful, glad to answer any of your questions, but are also top flight professionals who know what they are doing. I might also note that they bill themselves as being the "Gate to Cuba." I didn't make any inquiry about it as I wasn't heading toward Cuba and with the politics of Cuban travel changing daily, such would have been pointless. But if anyone does have an interest, it's good to know that here they seem to have accurate up to date information.

    Galleon Resort And Marina

My husband and I have stayed at the Galleon several times in the past and have never had a problem…read more In the past, I would have easily given them a 4 or 5 star review. Unfortunately, we just stayed there the week of December 2nd and had the worst customer service experience we've ever had there. We usually have 2-4 couples, as we did this trip. We reserved one of the 3 bed/3bath condos and one 1B/1B efficiency unit. Two couples were taking the Key West Express from Fort Myers and two couples were driving in two separate cars due to pet drop-offs and prior commitments. I called a couple weeks prior to find out about parking passes and was told our group would be allowed two passes. One for the 3/3 and one for the 1/1. Three of the couples arrived at the same time. We asked the front desk to hold the room keys and one parking pass for the last couple. The young man was very courteous and said he could leave the keys, but could not hold the parking pass because the car needed to be here and signed in with all the car's info. Fine, no problem. Later that evening the last couple arrived only to be given a hard time by the parking lot attend, he wouldn't let them in the parking lot. Supposedly, the resort was fully checked-in and no one else should be arriving. He treated our friends as if they were trying to scam a parking spot. After finally getting to the lobby, they were again treated like criminals. The friendly man that was there earlier was not there, a young lady and an old, grey haired man were there and refused to look for the keys and refused to issue the parking pass. Again, the lobby personnel seemed to think they were trying to scam them. Finally, everything was worked out, we asked for the parking pass and the old man told us no. That was not their policy, they only give parking passes to the person that reserved the room. I explained that I called prior to the trip and was told we could do that. The customer is always right does not work with the Galleon. That man treated us rudely and belligerently and said he didn't care what we were told, that's not the policy. Finally, our original man came in, I again asked for the parking pass per the other man and the old man publicly reprimanded the other man in front of all of us. It was extremely unprofessional and embarrassing for the younger man. Our friends ended up paying $40 next door at the Hyatt to park their car. The next morning the younger man gave us our parking pass. I'm very sad to say that this man was the only Galleon personnel with any customer service or professional skills. I even sent two e-mails expressing our dissatisfaction in the front desk to two separate managers and have not never gotten a response. Very poor customer service. Our group was not impressed with the Galleon to begin with as it's become extremely outdated and this incident will cause 8 people to not return to the Galleon. I have never been so disappointed in a resort's customer service and professionalism as I was with the Galleon's. Very sad and disappointed.

The Galleon Resort is nowhere close to the Hyatt next door, it's a joke! The attendants tried to ask us for our room key to try lunch at the broken restaurant in the back. I wish we had left at that point because it was terrible food. We left after sharing dry fish tacos.

Yet for a month's slip fee of over $1730 for a 30 foot boat, the worst part of this marina is the liaison with the local vehicle towing company. I counted over 10 empty car parking spaces the morning after Thanksgiving as I was saying goodbye to my overnight guests. Since I couldn't secure a guest parking pass on the thankful day my friends arrived, the chain smoking tow truck driver dutifully latched onto their car and and drove off. There was at least 10 ( over ten, I took a pic) empty spaces all around, and I had no idea my guests were required to park just a few spaces over, also half empty, all before 10 AM the morning after Thanksgiving. No notices, just tow. We managed to get the car off the rack and 'save' 75 bucks after being extorted for $310 cash On the spot. l left on my sloop soon after through an incorrectly charted series of channel markers (follow the depths on Navionics , not the red green amalgamy). After writing and leaving messages with the only available number, 'Pelagic Property Management' to remind them I was was staying for a month I'm now gone, and don't charge me, I was again security moored offshore. Two days later I received an email asking me if I'd like my card changed for the new month. Hello Pelagic Management? I was finally connected with the person who originally took my $1730 and reminded them I only wan to stay a month then mentioned the Predatory Towing she was complicit in. 'We are very strict with our parking' I was told,
