Consider this: Do you want a quick fix? Someone to look at your problem, take it off your hands,…read moreand make the decisions for you? Dr. Salinas is probably not your guy. He and his staff will stress-test your willingness to understand and participate in one of the most significant medical events of your life. He listens. He explains. He repeats himself. He expects questions. And he expects you to understand not only what he recommends, but why. Dr. Salinas has a rare gift: You are his responsibility. That distinction is why I would choose him again. I showed up with an old MRI. My primary doctor said it showed substantial degeneration at L4-L5 and I need a neurosurgeon to look at this. I eventually went to see him. What I did not get from Dr. Salinas was a quick look at the films followed by, "Yes, there's the problem. When would you like to schedule surgery?" He looked deeper, found S1 nerve damage. Then, he listened. My family's experience with spine surgery began in 1961, when my mother underwent surgery to remove a spinal tumor and was left paralyzed from the waist down. I wasn't afraid of doctors, but I possessed a lifetime of respect for what can happen when someone operates near the spinal cord. Avoid at all costs was my mantra. Dr. Salinas insisted on conservative options first--physical therapy, injections, and time. Surgery came only after those avenues had been exhausted and the clinical evidence pointed squarely there. Then some important things happened after the operation: his relentless communication. He repeats important instructions. His staff prepares me thoroughly. Questions get answered. Details get revisited. Before surgery, that seemed excessive. During recovery, when you are tired, medicated, and trying to remember a dozen protocols at once, you discover exactly why he does it. Then, I couldn't believe what happened next. On the third day after surgery, I contacted his answering service about a possible complication. Dr. Salinas was out of the country at the time. Yet, it was Dr. Salinas who responded directly to me with an answer--not a weekend on-call doctor. The next day, another issue developed. The hospital's discharge instructions conflicted with his specific protocol. He answered my texts directly, then bypassed messaging entirely and called me, considering the matter too important for text. His message was uncompromising: Nurses, PAs, MAs, and other hospital staff may participate in my care, but he alone is responsible for my health and recovery. I was to follow his instructions. That rare gift. Dr. Salinas brings more than elite surgical skill--though his educational pedigree is impressive. He brings something rarer to the operating room: judgment before surgery, fierce ownership afterward, and a refusal to delegate his accountability in between. Since I first reached out after surgery, he has called me daily, sometimes twice. It is still a work in progress. He's repeated that many times. When you are facing spinal surgery, you don't just need a pair of talented hands. You need a surgeon who views your outcome as his personal obligation. That is who Dr. Salinas is.

Unfortunately, most often I have found this not to be the case. This is especially true in my experiences when dealing with "health care" providers. McQuaid Vein Care underscores and clearly defines what premier patient service is and should be. Your entire staff's attention to detail and most importantly their personal care and excellent people skills clearly sets the experience at your facility apart from other outpatient medical facilities I have visited. From scheduling to patient preparation, to timely communication to your skill truly makes what should be an unpleasant experience extremely tolerable. It is for this reason that I encourage without reservation anyone seeking vascular / vein care to strongly consider McQuaid Vein Care. After all is it not the people that differentiate them from the others?

This company is based in Houston and rents medical facilities from existing orthopedic offices at…read morelocations around Texas to perform various complementary testing procedures. They have one number for the state. You listen to the menu options and then choose your location. For me, DFW is where I needed service. At the moment DFW only has one technician performing the EMG nerve test. This individual has to drive all over the metroplex to offer the procedure. I was unable to book one of the just three appointments for the facility in Plano, so I ended up driving to the facility in Prosper instead. It was definitely out of my way and cost me time and money (I took the tollway) to get there. The facility was easy to find and there was plenty of parking. No one was at the front desk when I entered and it took at least ten minutes before a staff member showed up to greet me. There was no option to ring a bell or sign a clipboard, so I stood waiting at the front desk the entire time. Thankfully I had completed all of the pre-task paperwork online and in advance of the appointment. The front desk person finally showed up and invited me to sit down. Shortly afterwards, the technician invited me to a really large room where my appointment took place. Despite my apprehension about the procedure and negative mood, the technician was very cordial, professional, and helped put me at ease. He explained what was going to happen, had me sign some paperwork, asked me if I preferred to lie down or sit upright for the test, and then had me communicate with the billing office through Houston to pay. Regarding payment, the company had sent me an email invoice earlier to pay, but I didn't because it was one lump sum. I had previously been told that the expensive procedure could be broken down into three, interest-free payments. One payment would be due before the procedure got started and the other two payments would be due in the following months. Upon discussing this on the phone, the billing department sent me a new invoice via email with the three payment option available. I was able to make the payment online without having to orally give anyone my credit card number. The EMG nerve test consists of several procedures. The first was electrical impulses sent through my nerve system in targeted areas. It reminded me of the old knee-jerk test that physicians used to do back in the day to check your reflexes. However this test is digital and internal. The electrical pulse sent through my system often generated a knee-jerk reaction from my fingers and arm. The pulse felt like someone snapping a rubber band against my skin. It wasn't pleasant, but it was tolerable, and the pulses only lasted a few seconds. The second part of the test involved sticking needles in me in various parts of my body. The needles were a little longer than acupuncture needles and on par with them when inserted into my muscles. I was then directed to contract or relax a specific muscle by pressing against and using gentle force against the hand or arm of the technician. There was no pain, but I did feel the needle inserted multiple times and in multiple spots. I was able to complete the EMG within the hour. The test results will take nearly five business days, but I'll be happy to know what the results are. My orthopedic will go over the results via a tele health call a few days after the test. The company is very efficient with their resources and seems to have a working business model. I do wish that there were more appointments available in the City of Richardson and possibly another technician on staff so that the one I saw wouldn't be so spread thin.

My wife had a 3:00 pm appointment today (4/24) and arrived on time. They were quick to take the copay, and at that point there were only two other people in the waiting area. Over the next 15 minutes, three more people walked in. She sat there until 3:45 pm and finally asked the front desk if there was going to be a longer delay because she needed to get back to our kids. Only then was she told they were "running behind." They called her back about five minutes later, and a nurse took her to an exam room. She then sat there waiting for another 40 minutes with no update. At that point, after nearly an hour and a half since her scheduled time and still no doctor in sight, she walked out. She went to the receptionist, asked for a refund of the copay, and told her she had to leave. The receptionist did not apologize, did not explain anything, and basically had nothing to say. My wife was very disappointed and frankly felt disrespected. She did everything right: made an appointment, showed up on time, paid promptly, and still they showed zero regard for her time or her responsibilities as a parent. A simple phone call or text ahead of time to warn that they were running an hour and a half behind would have allowed her to reschedule instead of wasting her afternoon. It is hard not to wonder: if she had shown up an hour and a half late, would they have still seen her, or would they have charged her a no‑show fee without hesitation? She lost two hours of her day driving back and forth and sitting in their office, and never even saw a doctor. This experience left us frustrated, disappointed, and very unlikely to return or recommend this practice to anyone.

As a physician, Dr. Procter has access to many of the same medical tools, treatments, and resources as other doctors. What truly sets him apart is not the tools themselves, but the way he uses them. In today's healthcare environment, it is rare to find a physician who combines deep medical knowledge with genuine compassion, personal commitment, and an unwavering determination to help patients heal. My two sons each have unique and challenging medical conditions. Before seeing Dr. Procter, we consulted with numerous physicians and specialists without achieving meaningful results. Dr. Procter approached their cases differently. He listened carefully, thought creatively, and developed treatment plans that addressed the root causes of their issues.
