the interior of a restaurant

After a 10 hours plane ride with 3 kids all I want is hot coffee that doesn't cost a fortune..... it doesn't even have to be good..... so paying $16 for a stale danish and luke warm mocha wasn't really the thing to put me in a good mood - but it did perk me up. I'm not exactly a coffee coinnesseur but I'm pretty sure these were good beans. Dipping into the kids college fund for coffee is just not what I'm particularly fond of. Next time I'll look a bit harder for the starbucks.

Decent drink but cool decoration. Also overpriced. The staff is friendly. The waiting time is also not long too.

Nimet Doner - Nim et doner wrap

I had just dropped my parents off at SFO and wanted a quick bite nearby. I saw this on Yelp and the…read morephotos of their doner stopped me cold. Most spots in the Bay selling doner use that cheap ground meat you get from wholesale distributors. The photos here showed actual layered beef so I had to try it. I opened up the 220g wrap and it was just meat, tomatoes, and fries. That's it. I was skeptical. How good could something so simple be? Holy crap. The meat was tender and juicy, seasoned perfectly, and despite how simple the whole thing was I inhaled it in under 5 minutes. Most other places douse everything in sauce to compensate for dry, chewy meat. Not here. It didn't need any of it. Everything just worked together. The layered meat is also sooo rare to find done right. Other spots that do have it usually serve it dry and chewy. This one nailed it. Service was really friendly and kind. Can't wait to come back!

I decided to go with the wrap with more meat ($19, I think it's their #6). You place your order at the back of the truck and they take cash and card. Food was ready in less than 10 minutes. I found the wrap to be tasty and enjoyable. The extra meat definitely makes this a big enough wrap that I could probably turn it into two small meals. The meat and fixings inside blended well and the jalapeños on the side were a must. The only thing I wish it had was some sauce to add a creamy texture or spicy for an extra kick. I'd probably ask for it extra grilled as well. The owner here was really nice. Definitely worth checking out if you are in the area and craving a doner.

The staff was honestly pretty good--they were able to balance two to go orders, two dine in orders, and our huge party all at the same time. And (knock on wood) did it perfectly. We were all seated inside, but the venue has an outdoor area too. There is a bathroom inside, but it is a unisex bathroom and only one occupant at a time. We got some babaganoosh, pita bread, hummus, falafel, Gyro plates, octopus plates, salmon wraps, fries, and basically a little bit of everything. The taste was very flavorful and cooked well. The portions were huge and plenty of us had to get to go boxes for our meals. My husband and I shared a Turkish coffee and it was quite nice. I've never tried this type of coffee before, but I can safely say that I'm hooked. Unfortunately nobody had room for dessert, although it looked delicious. Next time. There was quite a bit of parking in the plaza and it was easy to get in and out of our spots. I would definitely return to this spot just to try out more of their dishes.

And what's with dry rice and a bland salad? Hummus was also very bland. My friend had the dry chicken. Theme: DRY No wonder this place is empty. Honestly the best thing here was the tea, and that was extra by the way and NOT complimentary.

The shawarma plate was just as satisfying, with tender and flavorful meat. I like that it comes with two types of rice, fresh salad, hummus, and warm pita bread, which makes it a complete and filling meal. The ordering process is simple. You place your order at the counter, get your number, find a table, and the staff brings your food when it's ready. Service was smooth and efficient. It's a simple, laid-back space where you can enjoy your meal without feeling rushed. Overall, I really enjoyed my meal and appreciate the great service. :)

Customer service was not their strong suit as when I greeted the cashier, he seemed to not care at all. Once my food came out it looked great and I was ready to dig in. I ate what little I could and left most of the meal. I would consider going back and just getting the veggie combo meal.

And they've been stacking it with crab salad, mayo, garlic spread and crushed jalapenos since 1970. I'd like to tell you they haul this crab fresh out the bay, but it's actually a blend of crab, fish, and imitation crab. I don't know where they get it, but it hasn't changed in over 50 years, and that's saying something. Not much about this place has changed. Generations of Bay Area kids grew up on this counter. Most of us remember stopping by on the way to a game at candlestick park, or after landing at SFO. Candlestick is gone now, but I still stop by sometimes, usually for the crab sandwich on dutch crunch. It's not the "best sandwich in the bay area". It's not a modern sandwich breaking the mold. It's a classic. A legend. A piece of history, and it's worth going for that reason alone. But they only serve it wednesday through friday.
