Roast is my #1 must go to in Alamosa and my favorite coffee shoppe for breakfast anywhere. They roast their own coffee every Thursday. Love their green chili and the chorizo...so any dish that has both sends me to food heaven! Great atmosphere and happy and great servers. read more

Have stopped here many times for lunch as we drive through Alamosa. Good coffee. Good sandwiches, some rather unusual like buffalo chicken, bacon and avocado wrap. One star down because there is no table service. When you walk in you must immediately decide what to eat and order it before sitting. read more

One of my favorite places in Alamosa for brunch! Cool atmosphere, delicious latte's, and fresh food. I'm so surprised how many people in the valley still haven't heard about this place! My favorite is the Signature Scramble and Avocado Toast. My kids weren't thrilled because it isn't a standard greasy hash browns/ pancake place, but I'm ok with making them try fresher food. read more

I REALLY want to enjoy the food here. It's a neat place! The staff is friendly, and the coffee is fair (though their espresso always tastes burnt). However, every time I'm here, something is bad. Their bison cheddar ale soup is always gloopy and broken, like it has been frozen and thawed many times! I go here every month or so, only to leave disappointed. And I hate shaming local businesses, but my hope is that one day I'll visit and it will be improved! read more

Loved this place! We both had the breakfast burrito with Chorizo and the Green Chili side, delish, perfectly very spicy. If you want less heat, order it with bacon instead. Our server, Kayleigh, although sporting a Green Bay Packers jersey is a definite asset to the business; friendly and great service. It was refreshing to have a server who seemed genuinely happy to wait in people. Even though it was 10am and we didn't even try the local brews, we figured if breakfast and coffee were that good, that their beer must as well, so we went home with two Growlers. I saw a 5 star review for this place, so figured my girlfriend and I should stop by on our way back to Denver. I'm not going to be the guy to reduce the star level. The service was great with a very friendly staff. The green chili was the best I've had in Colorado and the beer flight was very tasty. Roast beef melt was pretty stellar as well. The coffee was delicious but extremely overpriced and the service was good. The menus were not readily available with descriptions of the different items and the sign board didn't give you clue. I had a smothered breakfast burrito (usually a safe choice in this area). So disappointed. The chili was too hot and had no flavor. The burrito itself wasn't any better. It was stuffed full of wonderful items but it was bland and mushy. Maybe they make the chili hot so your mouth was too numb to taste how bad the meal was. Chili should be flavorful with the blending of the ingredients and highlight the food it accompanies. When I found out this was part of the brew pub next door it all made sense. The pub's food is lacking so it is no surprise Roast Cafe has the same issues. read more

Great place for brunch! We stopped on our way home from a ski trip at Wolf Creek for brunch and were not disappointed! We had the very berry latte, honey waffles, chorizo scramble and breakfast burrito. Everything was absolutely delicious. The half burrito was plenty for one person. Went in for breakfast and had a wonderful meal. I got a scramble and my wife got the burrito and both were delicious. The staff was very nice and allowed me to taste some of the beers on tap and they even went next door to the brewery and made me a mixed 6 pack so I could take it with me. Two Strikes, You're Out! Today was my second try at dining at the Roast, I ordered a Classic Mountain Breakfast (scrambled eggs, roasted red potatoes, whole wheat bread) which is priced at $5.95. The service was pleasant and my food came quickly, a bit too quickly. I was served cold, hard, dark yellow scrambled eggs, the potatoes also cold and very dried out. The whole wheat bread (it comes off a truck from a bakery) was soft and tasted good. The waitress was very nice about the obviously bad food situation as I requested my money back. Being an Alamosan, this was not my first unappetizing food experience at the Roast. Several months ago I ordered a Club Wrap (bacon, lettuce, tomato, American cheese, chipoltle mayo, green chile tortilla) priced at $7.95. The first few bites tasted good until I found myself chewing on something rubber-like. Upon closer examination I found practically uncooked bacon inside my wrap. I showed the waitress and she eventually brought me cooked bacon. When I ordered the Club Wrap I had specified "well done, crispy bacon". So that's it for me, I will not eat at the Roast until they hire employees who actually know how to cook and prepare food. Currently, they use people who have little if any food preparing experience. The owners are rarely at the Roast to oversee their own business, which their presence could possibly help with quality control. read more
