The croissants and coffee here are amazing and every 10/10 coffee shop is now a 9.9/10 because this is the best.

They close at 2:00 pm on Saturdays so plan accordingly if you want to visit this place on a weekend. Also, they're closed on Sundays! I love how this bakery is owned and run by Mennonites. The young lady who waited on me was very polite. One more thing, they're cash or check only! When I realized they're cash only, the young lady asked if she wanted me to hold the pastry I ordered while I got cash at an ATM. If you don't have cash handy, there is an ATM down the street at a grocery store. It's a Wells Fargo ATM. When I arrived back at the bakery, my pastry was waiting for me, all nicely folded up in a bag. It was well after 2:00 pm so I felt that it was thoughtful of her to keep the business open to complete my order. My original order was a raspberry cheese danish. I also ended up ordering a chocolate peanut brownie. I was also "eyeballing" a tray of their cinnamon rolls. I left after purchasing my two pastries and remembered that they're closed on Sundays so I approached the business again to see if I could order a cinnamon roll to go. The young lady was closing up the business for the day when I approached. I asked if she would mind if I purchased a cinnamon roll to go. She obliged without hesitation. Again, this was so thoughtful and such great customer service. I ate my raspberry cheese danish immediately and was very impressed. I later ate some of my cinnamon roll later then finished the rest in Sunday morning. I also devoured the peanut butter brownie on Sunday morning. What impressed me the most about their pastries is that they're not loaded with too much sugar. I find that many bakeries and grocery store bakeries overload their pastries with too much sugar. They nailed it with the right amount of sugar here. The cinnamon roll was huge. It's probably enough for two people. It's also only under three dollars which is impressive as well. When I return to Westcliffe in a few weeks I will definitely return here. I highly recommend this bakery to support local and for great quality pastries for very reasonable prices. Lastly, they sell various breads and jams. I believe another Yelper wrote that they sell breakfast sandwiches. I will order up when I return again. Hope you enjoy as much as I did!

After buying more than I'd like to admit, I was ready to drive back into town and paint their little sign a bolder color and splash it with glitter! Haha This is one of those places that is a hidden gem. Walk in the door and the smells hit you all at once and your mouth starts to water. Take your first bite and it still doesn't disappoint. Days later, cut into the few day old bread, smear with some butter and you'd still be thanking your lucky stars. I'm ready to make the 9hr drive back just for the Apple Fritters alone.

Located on the main street in Pagosa with ample parking (the entrance is around back), it's a cute converted house with original wood flooring, bright lighting, and the wonderful aroma of freshly baked bread when you walk in. We ordered the Ham & Cheese Croissant, which was buttery and flaky with just the right amount of filling. Next, my wife ordered a breakfast burrito smothered in green chili sauce. This burrito was surprisingly good (I helped her finish it)! The sauce was made with fresh Hatch green chile (NM-style), which we loved because it reminded us of home. The coffee was decent overall. My wife said her latte wasn't quite strong enough, but I really enjoyed my cold brew. When we realized an item was missing from our order, the staff quickly and efficiently hustled to make it right.

Pagosa baking company has an absolutely dazzling array of rotating cakes, pastries, croissants, pies and tarts. From the crème brûlée tart (8$) to the chocolate cream pie minis (6$) to the amazing croissant breakfast sandwiches (5.75$) and cookies of all kinds (1-3.50$) we have been coming here for our sweet treats for months and they are literally batting 1.000% THEY DO NOT MISS. Service is ALWAYS friendly and prompt despite massive demand.....and don't even get me started on the bread. Made with locally milled flour and rye it is sublime (7$ per loaf). Everything about this place deserves support, they are a bastion of affordable quality in an ever pricier world. (I am a writer, these are my thoughts, ai played no role in this review). The vibes are strong here. It nails its rustic atmosphere and has a nice patio to sit out on. It's close-ish to the river, but you're mostly looking at a parking lot. All the other wares very much match the country-chic I think this is going for. I got very much the feeling of "we want to be a Magnolia of Colorado" from this place. Many of the items on sale referenced Root itself, trying to make fetch happen. As for what we got, we got some coffee, smoothies, and sweet tea. I also had one of their energy balls. Pricing was a bit on the high end, even for Pagosa. What was most absurd to me was how much my sweet tea was. Yes, it was good. But for that price, I was expecting a much larger cup. I was left thirsty. It's literally the cheapest thing you could make and not some secret recipe requiring expertise; for that price point I expected more to slurp on. The energy ball was tasty. The coffee, I'm told, was OK. The smoothies matched their price point and tasted fresh.
