It was easy to enter using the My Disney Experience app, as it already had the tickets under my account, and it was also a quick bus ride from Disney Springs. Towels are complimentary, and lockers have a small fee. Changing rooms are located near the front of the park, and are reasonably ok considering how many people go through them. The floor is paved but pretty hot to walk on, so I still recommend wearing waterproof footwear. Waterproof phone holders are probably the #1 most useful item to bring here, other than sunscreen. There was a surprisingly large amount of people here on a Monday; pretty much all the chairs were taken around the wave pool, and there were scarce empty spots in the humongous body of water with equally gigantic waves. They're not waves for babies or beginners at all - they knock you down and drag you far, even where you think you're far enough, which is pretty rad. While a lot of people were crawling around the park, the wait times weren't too bad. The lazy river, Castaway Creek, was chill. There were people around us all the time, but enough space to still feel comfortable. I was amazed at how long the river went on for, and at how much varied scenery they detailed through the course. I also loved and hated the surprise waterfall you're forced to go under at the base of the mountain. I wasn't able to get through as many rides as I'd hope because of a brewing storm that eventually rained everyone out of the park. There are attractions for people of all thrill levels, though they seem more family-friendly than catered to daredevils. The rides are easy to get on, too - you just walk up, grab an available tube, and wait in line. There are also convenient refreshments littered at all ends of the roundabout park. The theming around the park is fantastic, including the iconic Miss Tilly atop Mount Mayday. Lagoona Gator both welcomes and waves you off at the entrance of the park.

Hannah, our concierge, was the best. She made sure we never ran out of anything. Our cabana was right near a drink filling station, which was very convenient. It was also right next to an entrance to the lazy river, which was perfect. The water temperature was amazing. It was a pretty warm day and the water felt fantastic. In the afternoon, we ordered several platters, and one of them was the charcuterie spread. The Mickey had goat cheese was delicious. All the arrangements were fantastic. We also got the chicken fingers and the nacho bar which I forgot to take pictures of lol because we dug right in. Overall, when going with a group to the water parks, it is definitely worthwhile to all chip in and rent a cabana. 10/10 we would do this again.

Visiting on Wednesday and Thursday afternoons in mid-May made for quite the experience at Volcano…read moreBay. There were so many ride options, and minimal-to-no waits. Our longest wait was for Krakatau, and we still went twice in an hour. It is an awesome water coaster (unless you ask my 4 year old, who was terrified -- whoops!). Other favorites included the Puihi Round Raft Rides, especially the green line. I think we rode this one five times in an hour today, and twice yesterday. Ika Moana is conceptually similar, and also excellent. Overall, Volcano Bay may be our favorite of the four Universal Parks. I'm shocked to be saying that, since I've come to Universal several times, and never been tempted to visit Volcano Bay. Nevertheless, I need to say it; this is a legit great water park.

The tram was a short and comfortable ride. Once we arrived at the entrance, we moved very quickly through security and entered the park. Our first stop was a locker station so we could secure our belongings. Locker pricing ranges, depending on the size that you need. For a family size locker, the largest size they offer. It was a flat fee of $25. You are provided a wristband which you then tap against the old tapu tapu stations in the locker area. From there it prompts you to insert a credit card. After purchase, anytime you tap your wristband against the tapu station your locker promptly opens. There are two versions of the "lazy" (or not so) river. One you can leisurely enjoy with or without a float of your choice. The other has a life vest requirement and various "Look Out!" signs that keep you aware of what is ahead of you along the river. Bumping against the walls tore a small hole in my water shoes. Since we went on a Tuesday, it was not crowded or difficult to find good seats near the volcano. It was a pretty cloudy day, which wasn't the best, but we made due. Wait times were low allowing for back to back rides on some of our faves. I had heard great things about the food here but we had plans to eat dinner at CityWalk before heading back with our students so the goal was just to get a snack, however, all of the snack carts in the park were closed down except the ones selling ice cream. I had seen pretzels online and was super bummed when I couldn't get my hands on one now that I was actually visiting the park. The coaster style ride was hands down my favorite. I'd consider bringing my son this summer when we have some guaranteed bet weather.

From the moment we arrived to when we left, everything was really well done. The staff were friendly and welcoming, which set the tone right away. They have a buffet for breakfast and lunch with a good variety of options, so I feel like most people could find something they like. There are also smaller stands with snacks, pizza, and ICEE stations. Now let's talk about the drinks. There is just something about a frozen daiquiri when you're by the water. Highly recommend getting the drink package and trying a few... or all of them if you can handle it. I loved how many different areas there were to explore. Seeing dolphins swimming so close to the beach was actually kind of magical. They also have a monkey island which I was really excited about. It was closed when we got there, but I could still see them from a distance and I loved that. The aviary was really cool too. Tons of birds, but also tons of people. They recommend going first thing when the birds are most active, which we did, but so did everyone else. We got there about 45 minutes after opening and the birds already seemed a little over it. Honestly, I don't blame them. The Grand Reef was such a cool experience. I didn't really know what to expect, and even though it's man made, it still feels really immersive. Some of those rays are huge and have zero fear. They will swim right into you. My guy had never experienced anything like that and he loved it. I also liked that there were shallow areas and deeper sections if you wanted more of a snorkeling feel. The only downside for us was the Wind Away River. There are spots that get deep really fast, and that day they were apparently out of floaties because people were hoarding them and claiming areas. Staff even acknowledged it, which was frustrating because nothing was being done about it. It made parts of the river harder to enjoy than they should have been. Other than that, everything else was great and it made for such a fun day. Also the bar swings were a highlight. Loved those.

The room smelled awful, the window didn't open, and even after switching rooms the smell remained. The hotel is old, uncomfortable, and poorly maintained. Overall, a very disappointing stay. Our check-in experience at this hotel was a complete fiasco. We arrived in the evening only to discover that our reservation had been cancelled because we were two hours late. This happened despite the fact that we had called and sent messages in advance to confirm our arrival and specifically asked them not to cancel the booking. Nevertheless, the reservation was cancelled, and we were forced to make a new one after already waiting in line. At the front desk, the staff insisted it was our fault for not notifying them, even though we had clearly done so. Unfortunately, the real disappointment began when we entered the room. The smell was extremely unpleasant, and since the window did not open, it was impossible to ventilate the space. We requested a different room, and while the second room was slightly better, it still had an unpleasant odor. The pool area was also difficult to tolerate due to a very strong chlorine smell. Overall, the hotel feels very outdated and poorly maintained, making it hard to relax. Even the bar was closed throughout our stay. Overall, a very disappointing experience
