Stumbled across this lovely vineyard and fantastic tasting room while trying to find somewhere to eat in the middle of nowhere on the way to Stone Mountain. Totally worth the stop. The wines were fantastic and the food and service were amazing. Not to mention time the view while eating on the back patio.

Incredible!! We found this by chance when searching up nearby wineries and I am so glad we did! It is the most beautiful spot with stunning nature and scenery. The wine is incredible, with types for all tastes, and better quality than a lot of the new pop up wineries in the area. The food was unexpectedly fantastic, since we expected it to be catered more to the winery aspect. The quality is some of the best I've experienced from all aspects, environment, wine, and great food! Cannot wait to come back!!

Food is always amazing, one of our favorite restaurants since moving back from Charlotte! They have consistently good specials and I love that they change drinks every so often. The service is outstanding, have had almost every waitress and they are always so kind and accommodating! You couldn't ask for a more personable experience, regardless of who you get. The ambience is unmatched in Wilkes! Cannot think of a better outdoor setting, sometimes it can be warm but they will always allow you to move inside to somewhere more comfortable.

Just over an hour Drive from Winston-Salem in a little town called Traphill (which is close to Elkin North Carolina) lies hidden gem called Roaring River Vineyard. It is situated on the banks of a little river and was once the site of a couple mills that were built in the 1800's. In fact several rock columns are still standing that at one time supported the mill. The tasting room opened last year, and is bright and beautiful. Everyone in which we came in contact was super friendly and helpful, ready to discuss the wine, or the beer that they have on tap too. Beautiful setting for enjoying a sandwich and a beer or simply a glass of wine on the wrap around deck facing the babbling river. Plus the wine is not bad either, try the Viognier it was nice.

For wine and beer tasting this is a wonderful vineyard. Sitting on Roaring River it offers beautiful views and seating overlooking the River. For tastings, their flights are the way to go. Reasonably priced with a nice selection. Unlike other vineyards, RRV offers beer also. There is a restaurant on site and lodging. We did not partake of either, but the setting is lovely!

How am I the first review????? This place opened in July 2016 so everything is brand new and top of the line. We were instantly greeted by the bar manager and the owner. They were very friendly and we did the wine tasting, the wines were very good. Our favorite was the Viognier. They also offer local craft beer tastings as well. The food offerings are cheese and charcuterie, paninis, and flat breads. Our group got a bit of everything and it was very tasty. Now for the interesting part...this place is a compound. They have a tasting room, a restaurant, 2 apartments that can be rented, a cabin that can be rented, a small music venue, and a guest lodge and hot tub. The owner was engaging and gave us a personal tour. He is retired so this property is what takes up his energy and he does a fantastic job running it. The place is super nice, private, and accommodating. Whether you want to drink, eat, stay, fish, have a wedding, or all of the above...this is your place!

We did a wine tasting last Saturday after hiking at Stone Mountain and it was such a beautiful place that we came back to stay the weekend.

We booked this venue for our October wedding and we had the most magical, memorable, life changing experience. Kim and Ray really take this wedding hosting thing to a whole new level. Their expertise, professionalism, and involvement in every detail is unmatched. And all paired with such a calm, cool attitude which could soothe the most explosive of volcanoes. Never have I seen such genuine care, and effort taken to ensure the happiness of the couples and their families who have chosen to celebrate their special days with them. The property is absolutely breathtaking. Having everyone stay onsite made for a really special time opportunity to bring our families together. Ray and Kim really do provide a beautiful setting and experience. One which encouraged strangers to become friends and friends to become family. As previously mentioned we cannot say enough good things about this venue, the people and the good vibes that were felt all around. Ray and Kim - welcome to our family!!

We had an outdoor wedding with 100 guests planned for my daughter May 12, 2017 in Boone, NC. As…read morethe forecast grew more and more grim for that day, we had to make the decision to change venues three days before the wedding. I came across The Barn at Cornerstone and contacted Kim immediately. I was stressed and in full panic mode but as soon as I talked to her she began putting me at ease. She explained that although the Barn was not quite completed she would do anything in her power to help make this work. The day I visited her, the barn had no electricity. We talked through it and decided to rent a generator. The barn was still in progress but was already beautiful and rustic and I could envision something truly special there. Kim and her husband, Ray, worked tirelessly and two days later when we arrived to decorate and rehearse, the Barn not only had electricity but beautiful chandeliers were hung. We had a wonderful rehearsal dinner outdoors at the lodge that evening. The setting was gorgeous and the grounds were lovely. Ray continued working on the barn up until the afternoon of the wedding and Kim attended to every detail and also coordinated with my caterer. She took so much work and worry off my hands and allowed me to enjoy every moment. We ended up having the most beautiful, intimate wedding that evening. Rain fell heavy on the roof of the barn as they took their vows. It was absolutely magical. I know that once the barn is complete it will be one of the best venues around. There are beautiful venues everywhere but you will be hard pressed to find people like Kim and Ray. I cannot express my gratitude enough.

Overall, a terrific getaway. We spent a week enjoying the charms of the cabin and the area. Here…read moreare a few things we learned from our visit. First, the pictures available online don't do justice to the beauty of the location. The cabin sits just above a burbling stream. It lies at the end of a mile-long gravel road with plenty of up-and-down, blind corners, and two gates. This feels like a truly secluded spot. It is visible from the road, which is just on the other side and above the stream. But, as we experienced in late July, the dense foliage obscures the cabin. The cabin itself is both well-equipped and rustic. The kitchen has most utensils and cooking equipment, including a rice cooker, electric skillet, toaster oven, microwave, etc. everything was older but clean and functional. There is a single full bathroom with shower and a half bath upstairs. A washer-dryer set is very helpful. Internet access is a plus because cell service is spotty or nonexistent. For fellow jigsaw puzzlers, the kitchen table is perfect for a 1000 or 1,500 piece challenge. The deck is absolutely lovely. Given the location, the sun didn't hit the cabin until mid-morning, and never fell under the roofed portion of the deck. We were able to sit outside from early morning to evening in relative comfort. We brought citronella candles, which kept the bugs away - but those weren't bad at all. The owners ask that you removed the trash and clean up upon leaving - a usual request. They also ask for guests to wash and dry the sheets and sweep/mop upon leaving - a less common ask. The bedding was adequate. Older pillows and a firm, creaky master bed could be updated. This is not a touristy area. Those lie north and east of here. We brought all of our own food. If you plan to eat out, or shop out regularly, you will need to drive some distance/time. Within an hour's drive - and you will need to travel to take in the area and get supplies - are several wonderful spots. Be sure to hike Stone Mountain State Park. What a beautiful, well-maintained park! Bring your bikes and complete the 20-mile round trip rail-trail between Todd and Freeport. Gorgeous, easy ride along the New Fork River. Get baked goods at the Todd Mercantile store. Boone has some shopping and organic groceries, but is a solid two-hour round trip. Looking for adventure. Drive north on the main road, take the gravel road (left) at the fork, and follow the mountain road about 5 miles to the Blue Ridge Parkway. One of us enjoyed that very much; the other less so given the hairpin turns and steep drops. We definitely recommend Blue River Cabin.

From the moment we opened the first entry gate, we felt like a wonderful adventure was about to begin. The cabin is spacious, spotlessly clean, and supplied with everything you could possibly need for a relaxing, totally peaceful getaway. Falling asleep to the sound of the rushing water and waterfalls ...well, it just doesn't get any better than that. We will definitely return, and several of our friends are already wanting to book a stay also!
