Was looking for a late night dinner that wasn't fast food and Roar popped up in my search. Glad to have found this spot, a VERY cool set up with a food hall area on the main floor with about 6 or so eating choices covering all genres from seafood to Asian to Hispanic to American to Italian. My wife and I decided on Blue Crab for Asian and seafood, prices were fair and food portions pretty good sized. The Nashville Hot Fish Sandwich with fries was great and my wife got shrimp tacos and dumplings that she said were good. So part of the set up was a self serve beer wall that was super cool letting you drink partial pours and sample any of the 20+ beers on the wall. The part that's best is you only pay for what you pour, so very cool. On this Sunday late night we went, all of the entertainment was closed already but it's very much so a cool place for so small lane bowling, golf driver hitting screens, and very cool lounging areas.....I only caught a quick glimpse when I had to go to the 2nd floor for a beer wall fob to work the taps. There was also a nicer looking restaurant on this level. Then apparently there is a 3rd floor rooftop bar area, I didn't make it up to there to check it out unfortunately but essentially 3 levels of things to do and live music areas on all 3 I believe as well. Definitely planning on coming back and maybe bringing my daughter to do some of the bowling and golf driving simulator. I believe Sundays is half priced on the games if I recall from talking to the bartender. Highly recommend. read more

My 1st time at Roar the drinks and food were very good. The 2nd time I must admit I was a lil disappointed in the food and drinks. On the 2nd visit to Roar I chose another food vendor, but the same bar for the same drink, while strong it was not the same as the first visit there. The food ordered this time was the Crab Rangoons, they were overcooked and yet cold at the same time, we ordered some Crabby fries with our Crab Rangoons. The Crabby fries were nothing more than cold French fries with seasoned salt, similar in taste to Bo Jangles and they were cold. If there was a delay in getting our food up and to us while it was hot, that issue would have to fall in the lap of that particular vendor, I was seated within view of the stations and as soon as my text message announced my order was ready, it took me every bit of 10 seconds to retrieve our appetizers. Yes, we were seated that close. Back to the drinks I had a mango margarita with old bay seasoning on the rim. The 1st night they ran out of mango, so the bartender suggested another flavor in its place, what that was I have no idea now. However, it was better than the 2nd night there, same drink but they had mango this time. Just maybe the original bartender on my 1st visit could write down the substitute ingredient and come up with a new name for it for me, lol. There are no personal pictures of this drink that had me requesting it again, and that leads me to give Roar a 3 out of 5 stars. Those Crabby fries and Rangoons are to blame for the deduction. Had a great time at Roar on my first visit. The staff greeted us immediately and gave us the down low on how things work. I'm short, you are provided a key fob to enjoy about 20-30 tabs from a wall that charges you by the oz. I liked to pour short glasses to sample several beers. There are also one red and one white wine to choose from. I was not a fan of the red at all and hope they rotate it out. First floor has several restaurants to select from and they look amazing. It's counter service so you can order them grab a table anywhere in the building which is very convenient given all of the choices to relax and eat. Also a full bar on the 1st floor. Second floor is full of great decor and booths where you can play zombie dodgeball, golf, and several other cool games. There is also a bowling alley to further your enjoyment I dined at the 2nd floor steakhouse and everything was perfect. The steak was cooked as ordered and everything was fresh including the generous side of mushrooms i ordered. I will return soon. read more

The ambiance was decent . It's definitely a nice looking place with a cool beer self-serve wall , that's about all I found appealing. We paid 18$ for a Lobster Roll that was labeled "Seafood Roll" on the menu. We saw "Seafood PoBoy" on the self serve ordering tablet at the counter that was 18$ ... we reasoned that they were one in the same. Apparently the kitchen took it as the Shrimp PoBoy which was not even on the self-ordering tablet at the time and brought us that instead of the lobster roll. The two items were priced different as well (15$ for Shrimp, 18$ for lobster ) and we paid the higher price of 18$. I explained this several times to the kitchen staff and they kept going on about the two sandwiches being different , which I know by I explained the confusion above and finally got them to agree to remake it . 25 minutes go by and my wife just decides screw it she wants a refund , we took another 15 minutes just trying to get a manager. Thus far we have not received the refund , I don't think they ever even started to remake the sandwich. Terrible service. The food was mediocre. I got the Nashville Hot Fish Sandwich with the street corn. Everything about the corn was mediocre , no real flavor and tasted old , the Fish Sandwich was good as far as the actual cut and cook of the fish but the sauce and slaw fell flat in my opinion. Overall, tons of opportunities for things to do here! With events almost every weekend and activities for everyone. I have eaten at a couple of the restaurants in the food hall and tried there beer wall and enjoyed both. The food can get very pricey depending on where you eat so plan and the bar drinks are sometimes overpriced. My biggest quarrel with this place is the staff. They have all been very friendly but the management has not done a great job of training and communicating what's going on in the various floor. We waited 30-45 for coffee because only the manager knew how to use the espresso machine and was hard to track down. I asked a front door staff if the rooftop was open and they had no clue. Definitely need to work on this to reduce unnecessary confusion and wait time for guests. Would still recommend! The boutique bowl is really good and the food was nice. read more

Meh. Pretty costly for a food court. I've been to roar twice and not terribly impressed. First of all it's pretty slow and has a cold feeling. The food is a food courts and I've tried two of the spots and neither had very good food, especially for the price. I also tried the beer wall, which has the potential to be great but it was really expensive. I paid $9 for what i think was 12oz of average brew. I took my kids there with the hopes of bowling upstairs but for the 4 of us they wanted something insane like $70 to play. I was going to do it but the girls asked not to because it was so costly. The reason I give the place 3 stars rather than a lower rating is because it's a cool concept, they just need to up their game to make it a value for what they are charging. read more

My first and last visit to Roar was on June 9, 2023. This place has a lot of potential, but unfortunately, it's being ran by Millennials. I went to the bar on the first floor and was ignored by three bartenders. I know they saw me. I don't know their names but, one was a white male, and the other 2 were African American females. They all looked around me and past me to serve other people. I left and went to the 2nd floor bar, which was almost empty. The bartender (don't know his name, but he was an African American male) was standing at the center of the bar. Once I sat down, he walked away. Moments later, two young blonde girls come to the bar and suddenly the bartender is available to serve them, so I left. Management needs a better vetting system or this place will be empty. Good customer service will keep you in business, but bad customer service reviews will shut your doors fast. If you want GREAT customer service in a super friendly atmosphere, go to Fiddlin Fish Brewery or Wiseman. :) read more

Cool place. i look the renovated look of the building, from the outside you wouldnt think the interior would look as nice as it does. I much prefer bartenders to bar walls (just seems like adding unnecessary steps) but the selection is undeniably plentiful. Theres been live music every time i've gone, though it can be overwhelmingly loud at times. only been to the taco and margarita food stalls but they were great. For my friends and family, this is a good place to start your weekend nights but never our main destination. read more

I loved all the things they had to offer, they had duckpin bowling and sportS simulators and I recommend ordering the chicken Philly it was top tier, it was the best chicken I've ever had and the service was amazing. They were quick to ask if we needed anything and I would recommend going there for a birthday party or just going to have fun or going for dinner. My company held an event at ROAR in Winston Salem for a corporate offsite to host 18 people, and ROAR absolutely nailed every aspect of this. Joe was our main point of contact and beyond helpful - I was coordinating from out of state and couldn't be more thrilled with ROAR's hospitality. We were unsure if the space could fit our needs due to it being right outside of the arcade on the first floor. That was not a problem at all. Joe and Simon met all our asks with helpful suggestions, and it was easy to find a staff person to assist the day of the event. We reviewed the day's timeline, and the staff was prepared and ready for all the needs. The food catered was great, and our team complimented on how delicious it was with all the fresh food options and plenty to spare. We used two spaces on the first floor for our sessions. We were 18 people, and our room fit that size group just right. After the business part of the day was taken care of, our team was able to move on to the fun activities, and the rest of the space at ROAR did not disappoint. The bartender comes hands us wristbands then we get told we are supposed to pay $114 for our seats. Rude to hand us those and expect us to leave no one was there. This place sucks. What a much needed addition to our growing city of Winston-Salem! This has become one of our frequently visited places for a night out,to show out of town friends, and just for an over all great hangout spot. Parking: we have come here at all times and have always had a place to park. On a busy Saturday night we still managed to find some open spots just a block away. Atmosphere: roaring 20s meets modern day 20s. Dressy casual The details... Floor 1: we love the beer wall. You check in to use it and receive a fob. They have loads of options. Once you find one you want to try it charges by the ounce of pour. We enjoy trying different ones so, we like that we can do half glass pours of multiple brews if we want. It probably comes out to around $6 per glass. The bar service brought the star down for me....we have tried to order here 3 separate times on different days. All 3 were before the crowd hits and when there was maybe 2 other people at the bar if any...1st time awful service with rude bartender,2nd time waited for someone for nearly 5 minutes(unmanned bar) then someone who looked liked a manager came over to serve us(nice of him to do), 3rd time unmanned bar again...we just went to the beer wall. I wouldn't complain if the bar wasn't open until later however, I was made to feel like I was an inconvenience showing up during normal happy hour times(around 3-5 pm) oh...and they don't have any happy hour specials. So, cocktails should be outstanding at full price and they are average. The food from all vendors is great. I can't say I have a favorite. We usually split up and order from 2 or 3 places then share. Something for everyone. Good service most of the time and all vendors text you when it is ready. Floor 2: always a jaw dropper for first timers here. We love the old car with 20s theme statue couple. Neat photo opp and set the tone. They have boutique bowling, the kind they did before our modern fancy bowling alleys popped up. I think a crowd favorite is the virtual sport area. You can choose zombie dodgeball,golf,basketball, and more. They also have a very fancy steakhouse on this floor. We look forward to getting dressed up and making a reservation here one day. Floor 3: Beautiful rooftop hangout with a gorgeous view of winston! We always look forward to going up there. Overall, one of our favorite hangout spots and I can't express enough gratitude for those who made this happen in our small big town. We will keep coming here and bringing our friends and I look forward to updating my review to 5 star once kinks have been worked through. Tip:they have live music on the weekends. Check the schedule. Such an awesome, fun addition to Winston- Salem! The first floor is captivating with the large windows letting in a ton of natural light, perfect for an afternoon meet up with friends. There are plenty of tables, a bar, and several kitchens to choose from. There's a pizza place on its way as well as two more restaurants yet to be named. Upstairs, there's another restaurant (not open yet) and several golf simulators as well as mini bowling lanes. Scattered throughout are vintage couches, chairs, and tables to lounge with friends. I recommend getting a reservation for the bowling or golf because spaces fill up fast! There is a self-pour beer wall on both floors which makes it so easy to pick your favorite taps and fill your glass as needed. Grab a key fob from the front desk and pour away! As with any new business, there are still some kinks to be worked out but overall this is such a fun spot. Great addition to Winston! read more

Just insanely underwhelming. Been here twice. The "food hall" is full of mediocre restaurants that are actually all owned by the same company. The putt putt is fun, and the bowling area/golf simulator is enjoyable, but expensive if you have more than 2 people. Workers don't really care about your experience, typical of Winston Salem staff. Our first visit to roar was great! Looks can be deceiving as they were when first approached this hidden gem! Opening the front door you are immediately in awe of how big, and well designed this space is! Starting our visit off I opted for a pineapple chili margarita which was so delicious and strong in the best way possible, while my husband enjoyed a beer from the wide selection of the beer wall full of different local beer taps and even a couple wine selections! We then started looking at the many different food selections from the food hall all looked so good, but I decided on the blue crab and although they were out of lobster and I was unable to get a lobster roll I throughly enjoyed my second pick of the Nashville hot fish sandwich with elote corn along with a cup she carb soup all of which were full of flavors and freshness that really packed a punch. My husband opted for the Cheesy Western burger with hand cut French fries from Joey Corrells American Street food the burger was super buttery and thick! Fries were crisp and paired with a jalapeño ranch that was so delicious we literally dipped everything into it! We then explored the rest of roar as we made our way to the second floor where there was plenty of adult games and bowling for some adult fun along with another full beer wall and bar! The third floor (rooftop) was probably our favorite part of our experience full of seating and great company! Such a cool concept! Met friends here Saturday afternoon for boutique bowling and beers upstairs followed by dinner in the food hall on the first floor. Bowling is charged per hour and has to be reserved online - no rental shoes required and we all enjoyed it so much more than regular bowling. Seating is comfortable for groups with love seats, wingback chairs, and oversized ottomans. There are also projector screens above the bowling pins so you can watch TV at the end of your lane. You can open a tab at the desk upstairs for their pour-your-own beer wall which was really convenient and our beers equaled out to be about $5 a glass which is less than we expected. In the food hall, Joey Correll's sweet potato wedges were to die for and the Poke Bowl at Dragonfruit was so good that our friend bought a second one. The live music in the food hall was insanely loud however for 6pm and we couldn't even hold a conversation during dinner so definitely keep that in mind! read more

Plenty of things to do at ROAR...this place is perfect and it's exactly what Winston needed. We can't wait to enjoy the rooftop bar that is coming soon! Since this place is new, I do highly recommend if you want to play the simulators on the weekend (golf, baseball, soccer) then book it online a week in advance. We booked the boutique bowling lanes a couple days in advance as well online. For such a large business that just opened, everything ran smoothly! The only thing I noticed was a few of the bartenders downstairs in the back bar towards the food hall seemed rather not interested in making our drinks. The bar said they closed at 1am and we tried ordering a drink at 11:30 and they seemed as if they were getting ready to shut down and would rather stock the bar than make our drinks. I came with my family for a food stop on the way from the mountains to Raleigh. I ordered sweet sour chicken and this was the worst dish I had for many many years anywhere. It was quite disgusting and there isn't anyone to talk to even if I wanted to complain (you order virtually on the screen ans someone pops up later in the window with the food). I was hungry but I c9uld barely touch it. The funny thing was that I waited a very long time to this dish to be ready. My wife and son almost finished there meal by the time I got mine.
