Roaming Hunger is a business that would be a good one to use for a food truck IF it were reliable and prioritized customer service. I have used this company three times now and that is it. Third time was not a charm. RH is good at the beginning when hooking a customer who wants to hire a food truck. However, after they have your money for the food truck, it's like pulling teeth to speak to anyone at RH. Correspondence is all through emails. As many of you know, email correspondence can go on for far longer than necessary and it is a hands off approach to what should be a very customer service based business. Roaming Hunger does have a roster of decent food truck vendors. And I actually had good experiences with the three food trucks who worked my events. However, Roaming Hunger as the middle man--leaves the customer roaming-around-in-their-heads, wondering if they're actually going to get what they paid for? I will not recommend Roaming Hunger to anyone. read more

I booked a food truck through Roaming Hunger for a private party and what should have been a fun, stress-free experience turned into a complete nightmare. The day before my event, I realized I had not heard from either Roaming Hunger or the vendor (FoodMadness). I reached out to my assigned contact and received an out-of-office message. The alternate contact listed was also out of office. I called the number in the email and was connected with a manager, Cesar Rodarte, who informed me that my original contact was no longer with the company and that he would "look into it." A short time later, Cesar called back and told me the vendor's truck was out of commission and they would need to find me another truck. This was at 3:00 PM the day before my party. The truck I had originally booked offered a wide variety of food. Now, under extreme pressure, I was given only taco trucks to choose from--at the same price. With no real alternatives, I selected a taco truck. I was assured the truck would arrive at 4:15 PM for my 5:00 PM party. At 4:30, no one had arrived. After multiple calls and texts, Cesar discovered the vendor had been given the wrong address. The truck finally arrived at 5:00 PM--ran out of gas halfway up my driveway--and stopped in front of my home. The driver had a dog on her lap and was smoking. She got out, pulled a gas can from her vehicle, and began filling it in my driveway. At that point, I felt this was completely unsanitary and unsafe. I contacted Cesar, who asked the vendor to leave. While he was apologetic and promised a full refund, my party had already started and I had no food for my guests. I asked how Roaming Hunger intended to make this right. I was told to submit receipts for the food I had to urgently order and that I would be reimbursed. I did exactly that. Cesar told me he would call me the following Monday at noon to discuss next steps. I did not hear from anyone until days later. Then I received an email stating that while they would issue a refund for the booking, they would not reimburse me for the emergency food I had to purchase--despite previously telling me they would. I was offered a discount on a "future booking," which is something I would never risk after this experience. I requested to speak with the manager who made this decision so I could explain the full scope of what happened. I was told I would receive a call Thursday, then Friday, then "definitely Monday." It is now Tuesday, and no one has contacted me. This company left me without food at my own party, caused enormous stress, failed to communicate, failed to follow through on their promises, and then went silent. I do not recommend trusting Roaming Hunger with an important event. The risk is simply not worth it. read more

I first booked Mariscos Arenita for my event. Mariscos Arenita was listed as an available vendor. After I paid for the food truck, Roaming Hunger reached out to me and said that Mariscos Arenita did not have a license to serve Huntington Beach. Why would you list a truck as available to serve a city when they don't have the license for it? Roaming Hunger then gave me another list of available vendors. On the day of my event, the food truck was supposed to arrive at 1:15 PM for set up. The food truck arrived at 2:00 PM and didn't start serving until 2:30 PM. Mind you, we booked the truck from 2:00-4:00 PM. I tried to call my Roaming Hunger person, but they didn't respond to any of my calls, texts, or emails (nor did they follow up on how the event went after). In the Roaming Hunger contract, they listed that the truck would serve Main Veggie burrito The OG Burrito Fiesta Fries EParty Nachos El trio (3 tacos) ILa Fiestorta La Quesadilla Chico Street Dog chibaca wrap MexipnIlly La pachanga (quesadilla) Side Chips & salsa Drinks The truck only served: esquite, trio tacos, veggie burrito, fiesta nachos, taquitos, and sope (which is 6 of the 15 things that the contract had said). I was told if you'd like to tip, you should tip directly to the vendors. If you tip through Roaming Hunger, 100% of the tip would go to them and not the vendors. I would definitely use my vendor, but I will not use Roaming Hunger going forward. I would advise to just book directly through the vendors. read more

What an aweful experience. I had been looking for food trucks for over a month for an event at my work. Finally I got through to this company and they sent over 4 options, which I thought was pretty good considering how little time I had. The day of the event, I didn't receive any information, I still hadn't received the invoice, and I only heard back from one truck. I emailed that one truck in at am confirming that they would be there "tonight" and they replied they would. That evening at my even NO FOOD TRUCKS ARRIVED. I emailed roaming hunger multiple times, asking what was going on and if anyone was coming. I recieved no answer. TWO DAYS AFTER MY EVENT I received an email asking if I paid the invoice yet. Which I never even received. And I never had any food trucks show up. What an aweful time. Wouldn't NOT recommend This just added way more stress onto planning an event. read more

Our venue was coordinating a catering option that ultimately fell through the week before our event - luckily, Roaming Hunger was easily found on Google and their follow-up with quotes, coordination, and next steps made the whole last-minute booking experience a breeze. Roaming Hunger literally saved the day and helped me sleep better at night! The fact that I was able to browse food truck options and book all in ONE DAY was clutch. Our account manager, Jody, helped book a next-day consultation and review options immediately - Roaming Hunger's use of technology is so seamless, from reviewing proposals, to booking a consulting call, to selecting and paying a reservation hold - it all worked together so well. The process was painless and rather amazing!!! In the final steps of our pre-event process, our catering and events coordinator, Ashton, helped confirm all details with the food truck and translate some dietary restriction needs we had. I owe such a great and delicious event to team Jody and Ashton - so thankful to them for saving this event! When it comes to Fried Out LA, let's start with, FOOD WAS AMAZING! Oh, man, so tasty! Our menu consisted of Smash Burger, Chicken Truffle Honey Sandwich, Vegan Smash, Maple Bacon Sweet Potato Fries, and Avocado Fries - as the event organizer, I tried it all for QA purposes (and because I was extra hungry lol) and let me tell you, it was all soooooo good! You will be beyond satisfied with this selection. In addition to the amazing food, the staff was friendly, helpful, and on top of their service. They helped balance keeping hot food coming out and making sure the line did not get long for our group of 125 people. The worst experience, ever! This company is a scam. The minute you have paid in full, you are dropped to an events manager, in my case it was Danielle. Even the vendors that showed up complained about her non-responsive behavior. Do not hire through this company. They also have a huge mark-up which certainly doesn't justify their lack of managing the food trucks. Several of the vendors contacted me directly to get event and load in information. If I wouldn't have managed all this, my event would have totally tanked. Some of the vendors ran out of food. I paid for 120 portions, only had 89 guests and not even everyone had food from each of the six trucks. I grossly overpaid, which I guess is ok, but don't tell me you ran out of food and closed your truck 45 min before the end of the event. Roaming Hunger was not present to manage anyone. Despite the relatively last-minute notice, Jody went above and beyond by providing us with a curated list of about 15 different trucks to choose from. Working with Roaming Hunger was a major disappointment. We will not work with them again and certainly would not recommend them. Our event was straight forward with a very simple menu: an Octoberfest party for 75 friends and neighbors. The actual catering for our event was a mess: not only did the vendor get the menu wrong (we were limited to burger and chicken sliders with a miniature side of potato salad), but the food itself tasted very mediocre, on top of which they ran out of servings (even though we had received assurances that potential overages would be no problem and that we would simply pay extra for such). This was a "lay-up" of a catering event, yet somehow they still messed things up. Stay away and find a different option. read more

Up until the night before the event I was pretty happy with Roaming Hunger. That was until I looked at my gmail account at 9:45pm the evening before my event and saw that they had emailed me to notify me that the food truck we had contracted had to cancel. The food truck had a very understandable reason for canceling, so I am fine with that. The part that I am not fine with is that Roaming Hunger knew that three days before my event and only emailed me, never called... even though they have my phone number. I talked to them 4 days before the event when they called me to confirm everything. In addition to waiting for me to get around to checking my gmail, when I tried coordinating a back up truck with them, the coordinator emailed me (I never got a phone number I could call!) that she was checking on it with the back up vendor... but then she never emailed me (again, I didn't have a number to call her) whether or not the vendor could make it. I ended up having to call the food truck myself to find out that they weren't able to make it. What is the point of using Roaming Hunger if they don't help you when things get hard? Lesson learned: Look to see if your area has a locally based website or company for bidding out food truck contracts. I now know that in central Ohio you can use Central Ohio Food Truck Association to book a truck https://www.centralohiofoodtrucks.org/book. Also, Costo is a great back up option - food turned out great and it was much more cost effective. Now - I just hope that I get my deposit of 1K back asap. NYC - Horrible service. I had contracted with them for my original 2020 wedding date which was postponed due to the pandemic. My old account manager left and I was handed off to someone else. I received zero follow up and I had to chase them down for weeks at a time for any sort of answer. I was told that it was strange but they couldn't get any responses from the food trucks. I was partially amused given this is their SOLE business. Rather than figure out what the issue was as to why they weren't getting any answers, my account manager simply said they would get me a refund for my deposit. After sending a lengthy email asking why they were not willing to do what they were contracted for, I received a reply stating they would get together with their team and figure it out. Weeks passed with zero answers. They simply don't care for your business. After the event, we were advised by Roaming Hunger that the food truck either did not answer their calls or they were hung up on. After I paid a very large amount of money - 100% up front - I was ignored, passed around, ignored and passed around some more, and finally made to feel that my very valid concerns were no big deal. At several points during this process, I was sure I was being scammed due to the absolute lack of professionalism from the event coordination team. I had no fewer than five event coordinators, who mostly quit, "got promoted," and never answered my emails and missed our meetings. When I finally had a live conversation with Danielle (thanks to you sending her Calendly link - she did not - again, this feedback is not directed at you) I mentioned these concerns. She told me that I had no reason to be concerned after I would receive the "run of show" - but that document honestly does nothing to assure me after months of being jerked around. Then after Danielle sent me the run of show, another team member reached out to me to have the exact same conversation. He had no notes from Danielle, none of the information that I had given her, absolutely no indication that anything that ought to have been written down, was. Extremely not reassuring!!! Finally, two days before the event, I was informed that I had been given the wrong menu, and I needed to choose six main options instead of the 3 mains, 3 apps, and dessert I had already chosen. Fine. Sure. On the day of the event, there were only 5 options to choose from. So, no. Never again will I work with Roaming Hunger. read more

Not only did I source food trucks to visit while I was researching food for mine, but I found my fabricator (truck builder) through the RH network. The RH site is straight forward, easy to use and has so much information. When it came time to sell my truck I went immediately to RH and Tyler Kalin walked me through the basics of listing with them. It took several months, but Tyler closed the deal and my truck has found a new home out of state. I could not be happier with the caliber of service and the overall experience of working with Tyler and RH. I highly recommend them! read more

We had such a great experience using Roaming Hunger to cater our wedding. We were able to get a bunch of quotes from different types of food which allowed us to find the perfect option. They were very easy to communicate with and were able to answer all of the questions we had in a very timely manner and the price was super affordable. The only issue I had was initially not understanding that the request I had made was not for the specific truck listing I had seen on the site. I have to admit at the beginning I was a little concerned about hiring a Food Truck through a broker and paying 100% up front but my worries were unwarranted. We are a larger business that sets up about 3/4 lunch events a month for our field guys (between 30-200 people) was trying to get a few proposals from Jody and he was the rudest and most unprofessional person I have dealt with with to date. I tried calling and leaving voicemails but he seemed to not want to help me or provide any information. All he was concerned about was that I understood the minimum payment. I have moved forward with another company that offers the same services. Please let Jody know that the quote we just signed was for a burger truck for 2,146.25. I was overseeing an event for a grand opening of one of our new facilities in Louisville, KY. I found roaming Hunger via online searches and got an immediate response from them so that attracted me to the company. I loved the attentiveness I was getting. I was asked specific questions regarding the event to meet our needs. I reserved the best option for what we were looking for, paid, and received confirmation. I even received follow up emails making sure we were all set and was provided the food truck drivers phone number the week before the event in case I needed to get ahold of them. However, the day of the event - mind you, we had 50 of our largest customers attending, and our top executives - the food truck still wasn't their by 10:30 to begin setting up. I call both Roaming Hunger and the food truck, and the food truck had no idea what I was taking about. Turns out, the food truck company never confirmed and was already booked for that entire day. Meanwhile, I have 60+ people looking at me waiting for the food to show up. IT WAS A NIGHTMARE. I was mortified and panicked and sadly ended up getting Little Caesars pizza. I am highly disappointed in my choice of food truck broker and will never use this company again. **Oh, and all I got from the company was an "I am so sorry you will get your full refund". I hired this service in a bit of a time crunch (about a week and a half) prior to the scheduled event. It was a business event in which we needed one singular food truck. We had already reached out to some local options, but I was convinced this service would give us more options and take care of the scheduling hassle for us. I convinced my marketing directed to allow me to reach out to this company. Mind you, we had already had good responses from other food trucks inside my county. After some back and forth (slower on my part).... They only found me one option. Per my question about them only having one option: "Typically if we find you even one viable option, you're obligated to choose from what is given." Obligated. Obligated to choose from one option. The tone in this statement really bothered me. As if my happiness didnt matter at all. It was just "oops, the food trucks are all full, you are obligated to pick this truck". We went ahead and attempted to book it, but the company was already full. We did have a slower response time, but honestly I thought this company had a better network of food trucks. We went back and forth among the managers at my business before we decided that Mediterranean food was boring, but 'acceptable'. They did not have any food trucks inside my county (Kitsap) in Washington, but reached out to Seattle (King county) which is roughly an hour and a half away from my shop. A quick ferry ride, and only 16 miles away on a map, but no food truck will take the Ferry so it creates a long drive time.This is why I feel they did not have success. She kept encouraging me to 'raise my minimum' to $1000 instead of the set $750. It's almost like my value wasn't as important as some of the other clients they deal with. Jaclyn made me feel like a small fish, and that my initial offer to the food trucks was not 'good enough' to yield any kind of response. Very off putting. Of course Seattle food trucks want a higher minimum....to drive to Bremerton. I realize this service is in LA, but if you do not properly service an area... don't pretend that you do. Do not advertise your services for areas you are poorly serviced or literally have no services at all. I reached out by phone to some local trucks and got a MUCH better response. My thoughts on this? Do your home work, plan ahead, and save yourself the $250 service fee. You can send inquires to food trucks via email, just like they can, only free. We still booked a food truck for our corporate event, but not through this service. They refunded our money, I made a few calls (OLD SCHOOL, I know) and BAM. Got the job done. We booked a fantastic brunch food truck for the morning after our wedding 7 months before the actual date. We double checked a week and a half before our wedding with our account manager, Natalie and were told everything was on track and all set. 7 days before our wedding we got a half-assed email about how the truck is canceling for repairs and they can send a different truck.
