My friend -- a Christian, not even Jewish -- was meeting with a pastor for coffee. He was wearing an IDF jacket and a Star of David necklace while discussing a recent trip to Israel. No shouting. No confrontation. No disruption. Just coffee and conversation. An employee called Durham Regional Police. Officers showed up and told him his conversation was "offensive." When asked what was said that violated policy, no one could answer. No rule cited. No clear complaint identified. Just vague discomfort -- and removal. So what exactly triggered this escalation? Not behavior. Not threats. Not harassment. Symbols. And Israel. Calling the police on someone because others don't like what he's wearing or the country he's discussing is cowardly and discriminatory. Businesses don't get to selectively silence viewpoints they don't agree with. And weaponizing law enforcement to remove someone over perceived "offense" is an outrageous abuse of discretion. If Cork & Bean believes visible support for Israel warrants police involvement, they should say that publicly. If they don't, then they owe an immediate explanation and apology. Until management addresses this directly and transparently, this establishment does not deserve community support. Do better.

Quickly after that, I decided to order two donuts. A chocolate mint and a vanilla dip with sprinkles. My biggest concern was with paying for the donuts. They were pretty inexpensive at $2, but when I asked if they preferred USD or Canadian dollars the cashier started talking down to me. I thought it was a bit rude. Eventually, I ate my two donuts. They were not bad, but I would not refer to them as great. The mint chocolate donut tasted a bit bland while the vanilla dip was covered in sprinkles resulting in it tasting hard. Another one of my concerns here was the mess. The donut display was a bit disorganized and one of the tables were covered in crumbs. This specific Tim Horton's location is connected to a Wendy's and also has a drive through. However, it had a long line. Altogether, I was a bit disappointed with Tim Horton's especially compared to what I have heard.

Friendly service, good coffee, but their version of Dunkin's munchkins were too sweet for me. (But at ten for a Canadian dollar - how could you go wrong?!)

We went on a Saturday evening on an off season weekend as it was the only place in the area with dairy free soft serve. For non-dairy, it's incredible! It's the closest all of us have seen to soft serve. The regular ice cream flavours are also unique (I was there for the dole whip but saw apple pie, cinnamon bun and a few others). Portions are large, a kiddie cup/cone size was sufficient for most of us and price point was extremely reasonable. Not a lot of room inside but there's a nice sitting area on the patio that allows you to relax with your dole whip as well as a game for the kids. Only concern is that it's really close to the parking lot so we had to keep a very close eye on kids who might dart into traffic. However, I would definitely say this is a must try for anyone looking for an instagrammable picture or a fun place to visit on a hot day!

We were told when coming in that there was D&D in a few hours so it would get crowded. Instead, we were told to leave. If you are charging someone this much, you should kick them out and give either a discount or reserve the tables ahead of time. The rating could be higher because my boyfriend and I made it fun for ourselves but the overall cafe experience was disappointing.
