I would consider exploring other options…read more Upon having our transmission rebuilt and rear main seal replaced by Gears we had an immediate oil leak from rear main seal (approximately 1 quart every 2 hours). Gears Transmission indicated they were not obligated to warranty rear main seal leak (in which they replaced). After 4 weeks of constant calls, broken promises to remedy, paying for repairs out of my pocket and pursuing legal action for reimbursement I finally received reimbursement for warranty work. To make matters worse, a broken bolt was discovered from seal install, meaning they broke a bolt and attempted to hide during installation. In addition, a loose bolt in transmission bell housing was also found. During transmission repair and warranty claim, Gears was horrible about providing updates; they only called/ returned our calls two times over this 9-week process. Granted, we travelled cross country day after receiving truck with rebuilt transmission and Gears had to use another shop to perform warranty repairs; however we had to take truck to 2 different shops of their choice so they could obtain multiple quotes and we ended up paying for repairs out of pocket after they reneged on paying their bill to vendor of their choice. Only after beginning legal proceedings did I receive reimbursement for main seal replacement.

Horrible! Do not go there. They still have my car after two weeks. I paid $3790 for a rebuild and…read morewithin 23 miles the car failed. That was a Friday night. No car all weekend then Monday they towed it. Couldn't figure out anything. Then said it was my car computer's fault (despite no prior issues with that.) They said I could not l go anywhere and fix the computer. They said If I don't buy it from them( non-computer experts) and let them put it in they will void the warranty on the transmission parts and labor they already did. They did not see a problem with the computer before when they examined all the transmission parts and gave me a assessment and quote for repair. They don't know why all of sudden there is a catastrophic failure right after they installed the transmission. They say they are not liable for the computer. It was blackmail. I reluctantly agreed to have it put in for $250 so I could get my car back. Then the owner of the business a Ms Bingham called me insulted me and said if I did not withdraw my BBB complaint she would raise the cost of the fix to $700. When I said no. She called the shop and told them the only way I could get my car was to come down there in 30 minutes ( by closing at 5 on Friday, again) with $549 cash. They take credit cards but they said now they would not take a card from me. This is kidnapping or theft or blackmail. SURELY this is illegal??? The police said it is wrong and violation of my CIVIL rights. DO NOT GO THERE. Learn form my terrifically horrible experience. I still have no car and still out thousands of dollars.

Unfortunately for me, mine was a "dealer only" type repair. When I came to pick up my car Jason himself came out and met me. He took the time to explain to me in detail why they couldn't make the repair and even waved the usual diagnostic charge. I will definitely be back when I have a "non-stealership" repair or service. Honest, prompt and knowledgeable!!

About 100 miles outside of Chattanooga my tranny started slipping and acting up. The wrench light can on and I pulled over at the next exit. Transmission fluid had spewed all over the place. Luckily, I has some with me as I was moving it to Chattanooga. I could not get a decent reading on my aftermarket dipstick so guessed how much to add. I babied the truck to Chattanooga where the former home owner recommended Jason Randall's. This is a small independent operation. After evaluation he determined the initial issue was my aftermarket Skid plate/Catalytic convertor theft device caused the Transmission to overheat blowing fluid out of the pressure release valve. I made the problem worse by overfilling. I burned up the 10th gear. Jason rebuilt the tranny and provided a 2 yr/24K warranty at his place or 1 yr and 12K at any ATRA transmission dealer. After the initial repair Jason felt something was still off and replaced the valve body. This took a couple extra days, but I appreciate his diligence in fixing this correctly. I drove the truck today from Chattanooga back to Florida (400 miles) and it performed flawlessly. The rebuilt Tranny no longer has the whistling sound I had grown accustom to and shifted way smoother than when I purchased the truck at 58K miles. I have found my Tranny place in our new City. Thanks Jason, Melissa and all the workers from Jason Randall Transmission.
