However Safeway continues to NOT provide its customers many advertised item discounts to customers unless the customer carefully checks the receipts after every visit. Most people don't realize how narrow profit margins are in the Supermarket business. IF a certain amount of customers think the sale discount was applied Safeway makes up for narrow margins because items are not keyed into the pricing program always in the favor of SAFEWAY ! Recently I contested a discount not provided at the Customer Service counter. A manager scolded me in an authoritative manner saying, " you need to tell the checker that you want to enter your phone number in order to get the discount " ! I reminded the manager a customer should NEVER be responsible to provide or direct a Safeway employee. That is store managements job. Some checkers ask you to enter your number, others don't say anything. Walmart and Food City are straight forward and old school. Safeway uses every marketing trick in the bag to get YOUR $. This place has prepared sandwiches, beer, vegetables and fresh meat. The chicken and meat prices were not bad. The store was clean and organized well. The quality of the meat is far better than what I've been getting at the big grocery chains, and the prices are very reasonable for the quality you're getting. I bought some New York strips and decided to grill one with absolutely no seasoning just to see how the meat stood on its own. It was outstanding. Tender, flavorful, and honestly didn't need a thing. The ground beef is excellent too. Dennis is a true old-school butcher with a ton of experience. He's a gentleman, knows his trade, and you can tell he takes a lot of pride in the quality of meat he puts in that case. I also really like that the meats are locally raised and finished. Another big plus is that you can call ahead and Dennis can cut what you want or need to order, which is something you just don't get at most big grocery stores anymore. This is my new go-to place for meat. I'd much rather buy from someone who knows exactly what he's selling than roll the dice at Walmart or one of the major grocery chains. If you're anywhere around Quartzsite, stop in and see Dennis. Great meat, fair prices, custom cuts, and someone behind the counter who actually knows his craft.

I've been a beef jerky connoisseur since I was like 5 years old (haha!), so I know GOOD jerky when I encounter it. The jerky here is overall AMAZING! In fact the array of jerky here and its taste probably rivals the jerky found at Baker's Alien Fresh Jerky in California. My go to jerky here at Daniel's are all the intentionally hot ones! - the Habanero Mango, the Carolina Reaper, and the XXX HOT. Out of the three, the XXX HOT is my absolute go to! It is hotter than anything I've ever tried and remains the King of Heat! This flavor of hot was formerly known as the Colon Cleanser about 4 - 5 years back. I like this one mainly for the taste... however, the taste behind the heat coupled with the hot-kick is addictive! Not to mention, the therapeutic properties of this jerky is medicinal. :D For you to figure out what flavors to pick up, you are offered samples to help you out. The staff here are all friendly and helpful. Please note that the jerky does taste a whole lot better out of a freshly opened bag. For example, the XXX HOT kicks harder out of a freshly opened bag than a sample. Moreover the establishment is clean, and well kept. Even more, there are a lot of other things to choose from here besides jerky. Other meat base jerkies are found here. Novelty-like sodas, candies, hot sauces and even Chocolate Rocks (which are AMAZING!) are found here too. There is something for everyone here to enjoy.
