The old Chinese woman working at the Big Market/Hardware store on Main St in Quartzsite was very rude to me as I walked in the front door. Little did I know she was running after someone she thought was shoplifting. As I opened the front door and took one step in, this old Chinese woman came from out of nowhere and ran into the front of me. When I didn't move, she stared at me, and I said, "excuse me, I'm trying to enter the store." She had the other door to go through, but picked the door I had opened. She goes around me and I entered the store. At the checkout, I have one item, she takes it away from me and says to me in broken English, "I no sell to you, you leave." I asked what did I do, was this because of the incident at the front door? She crossed her arms across the front of herself and turned her back to me. The store itself was super awesome but the woman (cash register 2, very mentally slow blonde woman) literally refused us service by ignoring us and turning away when we tried to purchase. We needed two one gallon gas containers for our UTV, and were happy to find them at the Big Market, though pricey. When we went to fill them with gas, we found out that one of the containers didn't have a spout, which caused it to leak. We called to let them know, to see if they could hold a spout for us since we were far away at the moment and could pick up in the morning. The gentleman we spoke to was very nice, and remembered us, but when he asked his boss, the owner, he told him to put the only other container they had back on the shelf, and that if it got sold, before we came, they couldn't do anything! The Big Market has changed in a big way this year. If you haven't been in the store in a while you might not even recognize it. The store added shelving and they are stocked and operating as a full on hardware store. This is a very welcome necessity to help fill the void of the hardware store that closed last year in town. If you find yourself needing any type of hardware you should give them a try first before heading out of town. The added employees are also knowledgeable in helping you find what you need. They still sell liquor and alcohol at reasonable prices but have cut back on some of the food items. They have a pretty good selection of beer in the cooler and a large selection of hard liquor if you want something else. You should give them a try. You might be surprised by the change. I purchased a can of Flex Seal at the BIG MARKET for $18.99. Trying to use it the next day found it to be one solid piece of rubber. I just wanted to exchange for a new one. The owner said no. If you buy anything from this store, be very very careful. I'm a Quartzsite resident and will drive 20 miles to Blythe Ca. before I step a foot in this store again. What a terrible business person. I bought 2 items at this Big Market, Liquid Nails adhesive and a toilet seat. I tried to return the toilet seat, because I realized I needed 7.5" hole distance to attach to my RV toilet seat. I cut the wrapper at one end and slid the product out of the package. After realizing this was the wrong size, I rewrapped the toilet seat and took it back to the store within 30 minutes. There was no damage to the product and all parts were included. I also had my receipt. There were no signs posted that all sales were final. I approached the Asian checker at the checkout to inquire about a refund, where he immediately raised his voice asking when I bought the item. I explained about 30 minutes ago. He then raised his voice again saying the package was opened, and "take it and leave"!! I've worked in a customer service occupation for 44 years. This person was the ultimate worse customer service encounter I have ever had to deal with. Needless to say, that I won't be back! read more

I was traveling and stumbled upon this market. They have so many alcohol options ranging from beer to hard liquor! I've never seen such a wide selection of of alcohol in my life. There's a fridge on the right side of the market for anyone craving for a cold drink on a hot day. They have ICE there too which is a major plus! Left side of the market is the hardware section. I don't know what people are complaining about as the owners and workers there are amazing! They were extremely helpful. The young, tall gentleman who I think is the owner is super handsome too! Employees were nice enough but quite honestly if we want anything other than really old munchies, gun supplies, or caulk I'd go elsewhere. I really have a hard time to with a store or town for that matter where clearly I asked the owner for help and he referred to his employee as his "slave" aloud in the store. Given the owners age I let it slide, but considering there was a Quartzite Police Officer in the store and customers with no masks and nothing said about owners comments or no masks by a Police Officer, this is a "good ol Boys" town and outsiders are tolerated at best.
