When I first discovered it many years ago it was pretty nice, it has grown to ridiculous level. It might be a warehouse for a distributor. The prices are below any I've seen in a store. The conditions felt just right, better than I can say for many tobacco and cigar shops. The gas station also has pretty good gas & diesel prices and the pumps are very roomy, even for large vehicles and trailers. They have a quizno's and pizza for fresh made foods, as well as the usual gas station stuff, and a lot of car & truck supplies.

The prices are lower than many of the stores in the city. I was surprised by that. In fact some were priced just a little over mail order pricing. The house sticks are super-cheap, and so far the one I've smoked was very good. Not in the class of the super-premiums, but far better than most generic cigars. This is well worth a visit if you're cruising between CA and AZ. Oh, and since it's in AZ you avoid the ridiculous cigar taxes in CA.

Often, as we're pulling up, Paul Winer is out front, bare butt to the street, arranging the discount and free books on the tables in the sun. Last weekend he was sporting a vibrant, rainbow-colored codpiece that just draws the eye in. He's a really cool guy, down-to-earth. Of course, you've probably got to be. To speak of the shop itself, the place is completely legit. Paul and his wife stock a very wide variety of rare and used books and collectors' items that are well worth the treasure hunt. Reader's Oasis' strength is in its sci-fi/fantasy and non-fiction sections. If you've got an interest in the local indigenous people, paleontological finds, Old West, and such, you're definitely in luck. Be sure to buy a commemorative bookmark of Sweet Pie in all his tanned glory for 50 cents. While signs out front say he's photo-friendly, it feels weird asking him outright to pose for one.
