Nate the Great helped me find the shoes right for me. The whole experience is enjoyable and helps you understand what shoes can help you and prevent any injuries. I didn't check it out much but they also have running clothing and nutrients. When trying on shoes the person working with you brings out 5 or 6 pairs for you to try and you're even allowed to run. After a strong recommendation from a relative, I visited RRS in Paramus, NJ today to buy walking shoes. Everything went well. The person just inside the door took my name, told me he thought it would help if I had a fit evaluation. I have hard-to-fit feet so I agreed. It was worth the wait. My salesperson, Jet, was excellent. He explained the fit evaluation process and how the results would give him information to help him find the best shoes for me feet. He listened to my concerns and was patient, personable, and knowledegable. I am happy with my purchase and the personal attention and I'd highly recommend this store. read more

RUDE woman in the front with the long black and blue or whatever hair. Told us it'd be a long wait of 45min and we said ok. Meanwhile it's easy to pay attention while you're waiting of who's been helped or not and who's just walking into the door. While we're being patient with our already excited toddler another set of customers walk in and we're being persistent in a quick assistance. They were tended to and I watched them skip us. We did not appreciate this and when brought up to the woman who seems to own the place she so RUDELY told us it'd be a long wait and when I she clearly wasn't listening, we left and she wasn't apologetic at all. Needless to say we're never coming back here again especially since they don't seem to know how to manage customers and were rude on top of it. read more

Road runner sports is a dishonest company. They lie and steal your money . I returned a brand new pair of brooks sneakers and I tryed them in my house ONLY . Returned them 10 day later. I returned them in brand spanking new condition in the mail and I was told by roadrunner sports that they had wear . So I can only get a credit . That is an absolute lie . This is VIP treatment. I have never ever in 61 years had a problem returning Sneakers inside of 30 days. Of course I filed a dispute road runner sports has my money and my merchandise. I don't have my money or my merchandise. I would never shop at roadrunner sports ever again they have been nothing but a nightmare from day one hanging up the phone lying getting disconnected constantly which is actually them just hanging up. They are a dishonest company how to steal from you don't fall into the trap the VIP service is a lie to get your money they charge you $10 for each return the first return they say it's free but then they send you a shipping label that you need to pay for at the UPS store to print if you don't have a printer. Road runner sports caused me a lot of aggravation and money and now they're holding all the cards my merchandise and my money. You can buy sneakers at Dick's Sporting Goods at new balance store and they never give you a problem refunding your money back to your credit card no matter what but I always return all my sneakers in brand new condition I will never wear sneakers outside of my house until I'm 100% sure that I like them this is why I usually never have a problem with the returns but road runner sports lied and said my sneakers headwear and that is an absolute 100% lie to steal my money. Don't shop at road runner sports. Also roadrunner sports keeps you on hold for up to one hour than the phone disconnects. This happens every single time I call roadrunner sports . You pay 10 dollars for each return than you pay a yearly price for VIP I get VIP service from Dicks sporting good , Amazon , new balance store . Never a problem with returns and getting my money back . WARNING AGAINST purchasing from here!!! I have had the most horrific experience from this company. I purchased some high end shoes and days after they cAncelled my order just like that. After calling them several times and speaking to various people, they claim it was because they ran out of stock, then they relisted the shoes on the website for a higher price!!! and then told me they were mis-marked on the site and it was a mistake! . They would not credit my account nor would they honor the price of the shoes I had already purchased. This store has the worst customer service I have ever experienced!! DO NOT buy from here!! This place is great. I worked with Beth on this particular occasion about a week ago and was so impressed with the service. She worked with me through the whole assessment while still giving helpful tips to others in the store. Beth figured explained the assessment and we had more of a conversation about what I had and what I needed. I am not sure what some.of these other reviewers are upset about. This is not a fast food restaurant where you're in and out in 5 minutes. A proper assessment and recommendation takes time and I appreciate the customer service I got. My first ever review, is for this Road Runner Sports store in Paramus, NJ. I came today, on a Monday, around 12pm. I called ahead of time to inquire information about their fit process, which is free, and they do their entire opening to assist you with buying shoes. They also answered their phone pleasantly and readily. And, at the time I was there, there was very little wait time, despite many customers walking in, most of them, leaving happily holding a box of new feet apparel. At appropriate intervals, they handoff you, their client, to their other associates in our presence in a very professional and direct manner. With the customer service team between Lyle, Beth, and Neil, making you feel comfortable and confident at making new leaps in product purchases, I take my hat off to all of you. All very knowledgeable, can recognize your gait at an instant, utilize a handful of important new age pressure topography and gait technology, both help and want you to learn more about your feet and sneakers, and care about you making the right purchase for you. I personally did make a purchase with their expertly molded insoles. After wearing them, I can already feel the support in my foot that I had been missing, when running or participating in fitness classes, that had been causing my flat & flexible foot (some terms used during the fitting process), to have more soreness and cramps than the rest of my body during and after workout. So, I believe solving those problems in itself, we did good. I highly recommend the process and I look forward to reaching my fitness goals, with them watching my back... and my feet. As a VIP member, you save money and have a 90 day return policy, in case you didn't make the right purchase for you. They can be found just off of Route 4 West, landmarked with a plaza of ample parking and Houlihan's Restaurant. As, some less related fun: there is a saying, "why not take better care of the one piece of your body, you put through more toil in a 24-hour day, that doesn't ask for much, but does have aches and pains -- your feet". I had been back and forth to quite a few sneaker stores. I just couldn't find a good fit within the usual brands that I wore. My friend turned me on to HUKA and I found this Paramus, NJ location for Road Runner. I ended up with a delightful young woman named Amanda. I had no idea there would be a very detailed evaluation of my foot. She selected a few sneakers that she thought would work for me. If 0 stars were an option, I would like to give. What started as a pleasant in store experience has been a nightmare. Brianna was helpful in fitting me, the color of the Brooks glycerin was not available in store in my size. She placed an order in the store for the shoe to be shipped to me from somewhere else. When I got home and relooked at my receipt, I saw she ordered the shoe in the wrong size. I called the store to correct but was unable to get a human on the phone. After leaving several messages, I called the 800 number only to be told the order was not in the system and could only be fixed at the store level. I spoke to Terri from store who said she would rectify but I would have to place new order for correct size online because the couldn't exchange. After being unable to place order online (because my VIP membership was placed at store it wasn't in the corporate system), I called the 800 number to replace over phone. They assured me the order would be canceled, but I couldn't yet reorder correct size. 2 days later I received an email saying the incorrect shoes were being shipped to me. I spoke to Lyle at the store who called corporate to intervene and have shoes sent back to warehouse so they could process refund quicker. I still received the incorrect shoes. Terri from the store emailed me a return shipping label and I immediately returned shoes via ups upon receipt. I was told I would receive a credit in 7 business days. The tracking number shoes the shoes arrived back at Warehouse in Columbus Ohio on 2/22. I kept following up with Terri at the store who retook my credit card number via phone and assured me return was being processed, but she said she was having a lot of email problems and was never able to verify (in any of our conversations that it was taken care of. After over 25 phone calls and still no credit I had no choice but to dispute the charge with my credit card company. Corporate Road runner is fighting my dispute saying they don't have shoes despite UPS tracking showing it was signed for at loading dock by HIX at 10:06 am several weeks and is in their possession. I am disputing this again with credit card company as I do not have product that was not even supposed to be shipped in the first place. Their is no communication between store and corporate office and it is impossible to get a human on phone at either location and I do not know who else has access to my credit card number since I gave it to Terri over phone because she told me that is how they needed it to process (and has not been processed) Despite what started out as a rather pleasant fitting experience in store, this atrocious customer service has been the most terrible shopping experience in my life. Have spent hours a day for over a month on phone trying to resolve and still no resolution. Such a negative experience I would NEVER recommend shopping with this company. read more

Finally I have found my go to running store on the East Coast since leaving California after 30 years.! Just back into running after breaking my back 3 years ago I knew I needed professional help in finding the perfect running shoe for me. 3 weeks back into running since my last marathon, NY Marathon, I feel so amazing. Working up to 35-40 miles a week both in NY and trails upstate I need a shoe that serves both terrains. I have not bought a pair of sneakers from here in 5 or more years and you guys are charging me this a year for VIP membership. What a freaking rip off. How do I cancel and get credit for this. Well COVID may have impacted how the interaction takes place but the staff remains a strength. The management and company focus on training was evident in my experience. This place was the only place that had my Hoka One One's in my size. I was able to reserve online from the Hoka site but when I got there Jet figured out it wasn't confirmed. He still saved my feet though because he went and checked the back and found them. Scam company and thieves. Was a VIP and went to store to return UNWORN pair of running shoes. She told me no that even though it's under 90 days they will only give store credit. I needed the money back!! So I leave and a few days later I cancel my membership. Turns out now a few days ago corporate charges a renewal fee because they kept my card on file. You cannot remove it. Now they won't refund me that charge AND will not respond to emails to customer service. Zappos and JackRabbit from now on. read more

I went to road runner sports looking for some new running shoes. The place is farily large and I was a bit overwhelmed at first. I decided to use the "shoe dog" tool to have shoes fitted properly. I put my name on the list for the shoe dog and waited about 10-15 minutes. I was fitted by the manager, who was also performing her managerial duties while fitting me. The shoe dog process takes about 5-10 minutes. It involves standing on a mat that shows your weight distribution and running on a treadmill with your bare feet being videotaped. They then analyze your gait and custom make you an insole that they try to sell you on..an $80 insole...but they don't tell you its $80. However, even though they make you the insole you are NOT committed to purchasing it. The manager was very knowledgeable, and the shoe dog process did tell me alot about my feet that I didn't know (high arches, distribute most of my weight on my heels). Once the fitting process was over another individual helped me find appropriate shoes. He was also very knowledgeable. Once I chose the shoes I liked (I was able to try them running on the treadmill) they then put the "custom insoles" in and I tried running on the treadmill again..really no difference. I liked that the salesman did not push harder on the sale of the insoles. Once I said no, that was the end of the discussion. Here is my issue with the place: During the shoedog fitting you need to take off your shoes and get on the treadmill with your bare feet. You also need to connect the "safety stop" to yourself. I did these things and then proceeded to touch the handle on the treadmill (for heartrate monitoring). I was electrocuted. I touched it again. Electrocuted again. Touched again. Electrocuted again. It wasn't a huge shock, but more than static electricity. I told the manager. She didnt believe me. I told her to touch it. Wearing shoes and standing on the ground, she didnt get shocked. I told her to take off her shoes and get on the treadmill. She said no. I said, "you are the manager, take off your shoes and get on here". Again, she declined, and didnt believe me. Later, when I was running on the treadmill with sneakers (no shock), I asked the man standing next to me (barefoot for a fitting) to touch the handle. He was shocked. I brought it up to the employee fitting him. In a smug manner he told me it was just static. It was definately not "just static" . I am annoyed that none of these employees believed (or admitted) that the shoedog process electrocutes you. At least tell the customers not to touch the handle, or cover it with electrical tape. Sure, they have great variety, but I will not come back. read more

Probably won't go back to this location unless it's absolutely necessary. I have a half marathon that I'm training for, and my current shoes were hurting my feet. I read about Road Runner Sports in a runner's forum, so I thought why not give it a shot. The main reason I went there was for the foot analysis process, and it was awesome. -First, you fill out a sheet with your info, activity level, training purposes, and areas of aches and pains and whatnot. -After that, they measure your feet. -Next, they make you stand on a squishy pad at a natural stance. Apparently, I put 60% of my weight on my right foot. -Then, you run on the treadmill barefoot, not exactly comfortable, but they record the way you run, which is super informative. I have bad ankles, and the way I land on my feet imitates a near rolling outward motion that looks terrible for my joints. -Lastly, they make a mold of your feet as a custom insole. Naomi, the Shoe Dog customer rep, kindly informed me that I didn't have to buy them. Just to try them on with the shoes to see if it fit better. I never used an insole to improve shoe fit, but I instantly loved them. I probably could have just left with the insole. Amanda was the shoe sales rep I was taken to, and I asked her a ton of questions about shoes and running, and she seemed more than happy to answer my schpeal. She's a runner herself and talked a lot from her personal experience. She was incredibly patient and even brought out 8 pairs of shoes, none that I chose, but I trusted that she knew more than I did what would be best. Plus, I was more concerned with fit more than look. Though don't be afraid to ask if you are, everyone there seemed especially friendly. After I narrowed it down to 3 pairs of shoes, they let me run on the treadmill for a test drive. Just really great customer service points. I am really happy with my shoes. They mentioned the VIP package, but were in no way pushy. I definitely was an easy sell after seeing the store. They sell compression sleeves, CW-X pants, and running necessities that I don't usually see in the sports stores in our area. I also run with my sisters regularly, so we can all benefit from the discount. After I signed up they rang a cow bell at the front of the store welcoming me to the family. Pretty pricey. I wish I can remember the name of the woman who did my shoedog fitting because she is my new hero. I had a bad car accident twelve years ago, and after the three surgeries I had from my leg injury, I thought I was done with running forever. Every time I ran any distance, I'd have pain. I could only go short distances if I didn't want to spend my next day limping. As a result of this injury, I favored the other leg for years, resulting in a meniscal tear and large cyst. I had the cyst drained recently, so I'm still recovering from it. Well, I was fitted for orthotics that have made my comfort much better. She suggested Hoka One One shoes due to the extreme cushioning and voila. The accident injured leg had ZERO pain after my first run. Wow, I'm so happy. I might be coming back to running, and I had thought I was done forever. So happy with my experience. read more

After getting confused looking for running shoes online (What the f%$! is pronation?), I decided the best bet was to go to a running store, get a recommendation, and buy it online cheaper. Upon entering the store, you are greeted by an store employee who asks what you are looking for and walks you where you need to be. My boyfriend did the show analysis which was informative. After picking a shoe and taking the custom insole, we went to the register. The only thing that caught me off guard was the insoles. During the analysis, they make these custom made insoles based on the 3D image of your foot and when you buy a shoe, you can include it but they don't tell you its $70! I've been a road runner customer since 2017. For the most part I have had excellent service and am constantly buying new sneakers in the store or online. I do appreciate that the workers take their time to help with each customer and give them their full attention but they need to hire more help. There should be no reason why there is a 35 min wait at 1pm on a Monday, forget going on the weekends or nights, it's packed! Second, the lady with the colored dark long hair that takes the names at the front is beyond RUDE!! She was rude the other day when I was there and was rude again. I understand they are short staffed but you do not get nasty and rude to customers, at the end of the day we are supporting your Buisness, we don't need to deal with that nonsense. Not only did she have a very snippy attitude but she had stated "we are short staffed, we should have closed but we decided to stay open". I had done a bunch of online research regarding the shoes I wanted, and I had decided on a pair of Nike running shoes. I went into the store to try them on and see what I thought. Up walks Melissa. She asks if I need help. I tell her that I wanted to try on the Nike sneakers. She asks if I've ever shopped there before, which I had a few years back. Melissa was reluctant to let me try them on without first using their Shoe Dog system to analyze my feet. I agreed and put my name on the list. Lyle finally called my name, and proceeded to do the foot analysis. He checked the amount of pressure each foot was exerting. I jogged on a treadmill as they recorded my feet. After all the testing, Lyle created a pair of insoles that were customized to my feet. He then walked back over to Melissa, handed her the insoles, explained the foot analysis to her, and she promptly ran in the back to find shoes that fit my needs. She came back out with three pairs of shoes, none of which were the ones I came in to try on. I had to ask again for those Nikes that I initially came in to try. She went back and got those for me finally. She laced up the pairs of shoes and let me try them on. Of course, I had to try them on with the magical insoles. I finally settled on a different pair that felt great. The next thing she asks is "What color socks?" She's just assuming that I am going to buy them. I happened to need socks, so I let her grab me some. We finally get to the register. I sign up for their VIP program because I had intended to buy more from them. Melissa scans everything in, and I look at the list. What?! $80 for those insoles?! No one ever mentioned that they were $80. How convenient of them to forget telling me this important fact. It must have just slipped their mind. Somehow I think not. It was pointed out to me that because I was a VIP member the insoles were only $72. Oh, that made a big difference. I was so upset. I didn't know what to say. I told Melissa to take them off the bill. I refused to pay for them. I think this was such a shady way of doing business. If at any point someone said "Hey, we're going to fit you for an $80 pair of insoles." I would've passed on them immediately. I am never returning to this store. Watch out for the Shoe Dog! As a new runner, I wanted to make sure I had the correct shoe. I had read some of the negative reviews, and contrary to what people said, this place didn't push a VIP membership on me. I think the person who ran the shoe dog was manager level, since most of the staff came to her with questions or requests and it seemed like she was running the show. The analysis took about 10 minutes, and they brought me 4 pairs of shoes of different brands to try on. They also intimated the importance of the insole, especially since I have flat feet. A few takeaways from this experience: - pushed the shoe that was on sale - the Brooks Glycerin 10 - she was very informative and answered all my questions from this newbie - she wanted to make sure I felt comfortable, which was most important to me - THIS IMPRESSED ME THE MOST - she mentioned the VIP program, but also said that since I mentioned earlier that a family member came here a lot, that she could look up their name and apply the 10% discount! she could've easily left that out and I probably would've purchased a VIP membership, but thankfully she hooked me up. staff was courteous, place is pretty impressive. the one thing that I didn't get was that they didn't push Asics on me.
