Petal, Mississippi has a population of only around 12,000. It's total land covers only about 16 square miles. Within that 16 square miles there are over 30 various types of restaurants for it's 12,000 citizens to pick from. Multiple Mexican places, several Asian, an Italian joint, a steak joint, a couple fried catfish places, some sit down chain restaurants and almost all the fast food joints you can want. Yet some how among this dizzying array of places to eat, Road House manages to stand at the top of the list. (Shared with Sully's). Everytime my wife and I have gone we've had delicious food and great service. My favorite is the burger. The first time I had it I was amazed at the smokey flavor it had. At the time I had no idea they were smoking their beef patties at the time. My wife had the Mississippi Philly Cheesesteak which was also as amazing. Servers were attentive, very friendly and fun to talk to. Desserts were delicious and fresh as well. My only couple complaints were the restaurant was kept ridiculously cold. Even the servers said it was too cold in there for them as they shuffled around wearing hoodies. The other issue I had was it seemed like place couldn't decide if it was a casual family restaurant, or fine dining. The decor and the way the staff interacts with the tables suggest casual family restaurant. But the pricing leans more towards fine dining. This is not at all any reason why you should not eat here. And based on what i've seen recently, most patrons don't see this place the same way I do as they are consistently packed which is great! We're planning on another visit soon. I've been hankering for that burger again. Highly recommend, but bring a small coat just in case the temp is set to sub-zero again. read more

We have gone back yet again to Roadhouse in Petal MS!!! The atmosphere here is friendly and fun! Bring family or your best buddies! The staff is top notch! They are not only friendly but very efficient. They have some new things on the menu, very worth trying. The filet sliders are too die for!! As a meal or an appetizer! They are also LOCALLY OWNED! No real lobby. Had to call a number to get someone to check me in. The room, though recently renovated, had no lamps. The only lighting was just ambient lighting behind the headboard. Could not read unless you were in the bathroom. The bed would have been comfortable if it were not for the metal base "banging" like a cookie sheet anytime you got in. There was no soap or other amenities in the bathroom. And, although they had Roku and plenty of streaming apps, their internet could not handle them and the screens froze up constantly. Finally finished a program on my ipad. It looks like they are trying but failing badly. read more

Came for the Sunday brunch menu. I got the steak and eggs, and it was cooked perfectly. Very big juicy thick steak. I'm pretty sure this thing was bigger than 7 oz. My wife got the Crawdaddy Philly, and it was beautifully flavorful, very meaty, and the garlic aioli sauce complimented the entire sandwich very nicely. The bun that was on tasted freshly made. Our server made sure that we were okay, kept the drinks flowing and any mistakes that were made were quickly and expeditiously rectified. I ordered my eggs with a few extra flourishes and it was handled incredibly well. We're from Florida, and we were thoroughly impressed with everything here. Top notch!! read more

Friday Jan 16 Hope Outdoors Full Life Hurley Chapter had the honor of hosting our Meet and Greet for our deer hunt event at the Roadhouse Restaurant. Let me first say that the renovations are amazing! Jess and her team have worked hard to get the restaurant reopened and you won't be disappointed. Now to the food...when you have 75 people eating you usually have some that didn't enjoy the food. Not the case here. Everyone has raved about the food. "Best hamburger I've had". "Fried chicken salad was out of this world" "These fries were mouth watering delicious!" Needless to say you need to go check out the menu for yourself! Can't forget to talk about the service. I never saw a drink glass empty. This staff was so personable and so gracious. They know how to treat customers! We can't wait for the reopening this weekend! We will definitely be regulars!! I walked in and was greeted by a nice young lady with a wonderful attitude. She was very nice. She asked if we would like a table or a booth. We both opted for the booth. They immediately came to get our app and drink order. We just chose water, no lemon. It was out quickly. The water was soft. Not too much. While sitting at the table we noticed they have wifi. I got on right off. My google phone automatically chose the right wifi. His on the other hand, "the fruit" made you have to choose, be wrong and choose again.. The atmosphere is laid back and very down home. The music is a decibel or two too high, great selection though. The food took a little bit to come out. When it did it was beautifully plated. There was a chip in his plate. But nothing an onion wouldn't cover. Now to get down to the nitty gritty... We both had the blackened redfish, grilled squash and onions, and asparagus. The asparagus was very tasty even though it was a bit limp. The redfish had a great seasoning but the chef had a bit of a heavy hand with the salt. The crawfish sauce on top was very creamy with a slight heat to it. It was tasty. After a few bites we noticed a very fishy flavor coming from the skin left on the bottom. We did put some of the onions and squash that were very good with a hint of sweet to extinguish a bit of the flare from the salt, but it changed the flavor dramatically. The service dropped off a bit after we got our food. We did have to wait a bit to get a waitress. I would recommend trying it to see how you like it. I will come back and try a different option. Stopped in for lunch on a Sunday. The restaurant has a good theme but is lacking in some decor. The lights were neatly themed and there were a couple ( I saw 2) nascar style hoods on the wall along with an engine block in a corner for decoration. This place is fairly new so with a few more items they will have a nice theme going on. The floors were simple painted concrete, like a garage. The service was good and attentive and the food was typical. Prices were a little high for the food but the everything tasted good. I had a fried shrimp appetizer with a "boom boom" style sauce and country fried steak with skillet potatoes. Everything was good while the shrimp seemed to be a very small portion, the country fried steak was huge. The restroom did need some attention as the trash was overflowing from the day before, we were the first customers in for the day. Would stop back in if passing through at lunchtime. read more

Jesse and the gang have certainly brought something special to the area. We have eaten at Road House a few times now and it has been great. The food is delicious, and the staff friendly and helpful. The decor is also unique with interesting car/mechanic themes done in unusual ways. From the car hood decorations on the walls to the light fixtures made from old alternators you won't find another place quite like it. read more

Well... here I am... again.... First time visit just happens to also be the last time. Out of a group of 8 we had zero persons that were satisfied with the quality of the meal and service. We all had different items and can very honestly say no one like them. Food was cold. Servers didn't seem very knowledgeable about the products offers. I highly recommend this restaurant for anyone that likes a good food. The service from the the staff was exceptional, they're very down-to-earth and nice. The food we had tasted very good, the prices was not outrageous and very reasonable for what we ordered. they had big portions for the food and we end up taking a takeout box to fit the rest of the food in, you get your money is worth. The chop steak was my favorite freshly made, honestly it taste better than some of the higher brand-name restaurants in the surrounding areas. I love the chicken fettuccine Alfredo. The manager explained that it was made to order and you can definitely tell because it taste so fresh. Crawfish dip had a lot of crawfish tails, very tasty. The loaded fries were very good even though it was an appetizer it could probably feed about four people. And the Bread Pudding was super delicious. It was paired with vanilla ice cream, I really enjoyed the setting of the restaurant, Tables and seating went with the theme of the restaurant. They had candles on each table. With all the food that we ate and also the leftovers, I spent less than $80. read more

As a Petal resident, I very much want this new restaurant to be successful. I dined here tonight for the first time and very impressed with the spirit of hospitality and the atmosphere of the restaurant. Warm, attentive and competent staff and management along with a cool, exciting vibe and atmosphere makes me the think the place has potential. The apps came out quickly, but overall disappointing: the nacho fries had a good flavor but fries were cold. The fried shrimp breading was weird, perhaps just very overcooked (very dark brown and breading was like a shell). The entrees came out super fast. The grits that came with the Ahi Tuna were excellent but tuna was meh. The hamburger steak was nicely cooked with a good crust and moist, but the gravy tasted like flour and water. Had high hopes for the only dessert on the menu (bread pudding) but that too was nothing to mention. My perception as a restaurant industry professional is that the place is well managed by good people, but they need a real chef to make this place really successful. Best of luck!
