However, in the conversation about the different ways we serve the community, the owner became very rude, judgmental, condescending, disrespectful, and combative not only in her tone but also in her words. I would not suggest spending your hard earned money with someone who is willing to chastise and berate their customers about differing personal choices. Went in this small business shop to find exactly what I was looking for. I wanted a smoothie. As soon as I walked in the guy behind the counter greeted me. I asked him for the smoothie that he would recommend. He suggested one and I went with the one he suggested. It happened to be mango ginger smoothie. I asked for one with sea moss inside. He was happy to make it. It took a few minutes to prepare. The drink was $10 for regular and $12 for large. I wasn't asked before hand what size I wanted so I just went with what was given. *Love* First of all, everything is organic! Yes I said everything is organic! The fruits and veggies in your smoothie....organic, the stewed pumpkin at their hot buffet....organic, that cranberry muffin..all organic and vegan ingredients. They are adamant here about providing quality food using only the best ingredients. Their hot buffet has alot of Caribbean inspired options, the chalkboard menu changes seasonally, they make smoothies/juices (and sweeten them naturally), cakes and pastries (all vegan) and there are a ton of natural supplements available for purchase. Their prices are a bit high but personally, I cant knock them. When you use high quality ingredients, a higher price point should be expected. Majority of their chalkboard menu items (salmon burger, rotis, fried rice etc) are around $15 each but their smoothies and juices are around $6, $7 which is more affordable. Either way, I've enjoyed their wild salmon waffle burger on both of my visits. The patty is made fresh and is huge. The patty is full of salmon, spinach and/or kale and comes with waffles as the bun. They add on vegan mayo, tomatoes and romaine lettuce and you've got a delicious, one of a kind burger. My husband loves their shrimp roti, which btw is made with spelt flour and their fried rice dishes are made with brown rice. The food is always fresh, never salty and seasoned perfectly. *Hate* The wait time for food off the menu is ridiculous. On our first visit my husband and I ordered our food and waited atleast 45 minutes for it to come out. On our second visit though the wait was even longer. We called in advance and were told 30 minutes which turned into over an hour wait. We were in a rush this time, hence why we called in the order in the first place, and waiting was an inconvenience. My salmon burger was brought out first, 20 mins later the shrimp fried rice came out and 15 minutes after that the additional two rotis we ordered. It's disappointing because 10 minutes later when we get home, some of the food was already cold. *Love* Both of the owners, Yvonne and Chris, are extremely knowledgeable concerning living a natural, nutritious life and have been vegans for over 15 years. On our first visit we vibed with them almost immediately. Yvonne gave us alot of information regarding our health and we've traded some of our knowledge with her as well. She even gave us a few different items to sample. Yvonne is so educated that we saw a regular customer walk in and tell her his ailment. She told him exactly what his body needed, provided him with the appropriate supplement, gave him directions on usage and told him how long it'd take for his body to heal; all right on the spot! She also gave him a quick but powerful lecture on changing his lifestyle so he could mantain his health. Talk about holistic healing, I loved that!! Snuck over here during a baby shower on a Saturday afternoon. Not crowded at all and the staff is so friendly and sweet. I didn't see any tables but there is a bar style table against one wall with nice comfy chairs. The place is spotless they have a lot of options to fulfill your roti needs. A lot of fresh fruit and other things to purchase all lined up nicely in baskets. Lots of organic goodies. But now let's get down to what we came for. I had a hankering for roti for MONTHS and since this is probably the closest to my house I've been trying to decide when I would stop in. I was so excited to have the opportunity. The roti was good. Moist not dry. The Shrimp was yummy and cooked to perfection. The potatoes and chick peas were scrumptious. We got the mild. I would have preferred spicy but my boyfriend hates any thing spicy and we were splitting so we had to go easy on it. I had a little less than half of the shrimp roti and I was nice and full. Not disgustingly full but full enough considering I would be eating again in a few hours. It was delicious. The shrimp roti was 13 bucks. Chicken and all that kind of stuff were 9 and the bottles of water were a dollar each. Over all pretty good. Add the delicious food to the super sweet service alongside the decor and you've got yourself a winner. First off, there was NO MENU. My boyfriend and I came here to use a groupon before it expired. The waitress told us the menu off the top of her head, and we felt pressured to order fast since she had to keep repeating herself. The food was good, but the customer service wasnt too great. When we finished our meal the waitress came over and told us that although the groupon had an exp. date of 10/03 it was only good for the face value. I was initially helped by a helpful gentleman (I believe He's the owner). This time, I came in (for old times sake) to get a "wheatgrass" shot and the smoothie I usually get. Well, it was NOT wheatgrass but a very dark liquid. When I asked the cashier (co-owner?) what it was she said it was better than wheatgrass When I asked exactly what it was she reluctantly said chlorophyll and asked me why I drink wheatgrass. When I answered her *which I shouldn't have had to do since I'm PAYING for a product* and inquired about the brand she replied "Chlorophyll". "What's the brand name?" "Chlorophyll". "Okay I get that; who manufactures it" Can you guess the answer?; "Chlorophyll". I went as far as to Google liquid chlorophyll and name different brands but got the same response. I then pointed out that the sign clearly says "wheatgrass shot" and that's what I wanted. She responds that most customers don't know what they want (so that makes it okay to lie to them, I guess) and goes on to tout her decades of experience and the inefficiency of wheatgrass. She says the customer is uninformed, but instead of making me a Chlorophyll-believer by sharing references, she just bashed wheatgrass. I even asked for a pamphlet and she seriously told me to google it. Obviously, I asked for a refund. But I decided I would still take the smoothie (since she went through the trouble of making it already). Well, whatever ingredient she had to substitute into the smoothie made it literally undrinkable. It was bitter and separating every 45 seconds. Instead of going back for a refund, I just threw it away. What was meant to be stroll down memory lane left me more stressed, no more informed and still wanting my wheatgrass shot and smoothie. I should've gone to another juice store, even if it was a little farther away. And this is not meant to be a personal attack at all! Yelp is a place for potential customers to hear the experience of past customers (and is less punitive than going to the Better Business Bureau). But from seeing some of these responses by the owner, I only hope they understand that fact and makes some customer service and signage adjustments. read more

I was very pleased when I saw whole wheat, multigrain and spinach roti skins. I ordered the vegan roti with whole wheat roti skin. I was a bit skeptical but the guy at the bar told me it taste good. Came in today to check out the prices here and I must say they are way more expensive than Veggie Castle one small drink is $9.00; the food is buffet style and that in itself cost me $17.00 for a small portion of food compared to what I would of gotten from veggie castle and the organic salmon was $5.00 extra in total included in the $17.00 I spent about $34.00 on a small plate of food, small drink and a bag of small chips. As for the quality and taste of the food I would give it a 5/5 not bad at all. I must say if you are looking to start on a vegan or vegetarian diet and your willing to spending then this location should be fine; but veggie castle in Richmond Queens you can get more variety, more portion size a beef pattie and a snack for around $35.00 and that's just 2 plates I'm speaking about. Horrible customer service at this restaurant/daycare. I rather take the drive down to Veggie Castle. When you think about a buffet you expect to have at least 10 choices. In the case of Roti Roadhouse , they apparently think that having four or five options to choose from is a buffet. Not only do they have a small selection but it's usually almost finished when you get there . They're organic drink and juice and Smoothie menu is limited. Their customer service is horrendous. Specifically the woman baby-sitting behind the counter. Her attitude is disgusting. They both complained about having ads on Groupon and basically gave me a 2 minute lecture on how they dislike using Groupon . so why not just take your ad off Groupon? Why complain about it to the customers. They are just terrible. I wouldn't step foot in this place even if the babysitter started her own daycare outside of the restaurant, they lowered their expensive prices, and was giving away organic juices for free. Had a groupon for the roti road house and decided to make it a girls night out with my sis. On a Wed, I know very exciting. So I called to make reservations as per the groupon for 8pm. My car wouldn't start so we had to take a cab. We arrived and on time but reservations were not needed. It was not crowded at all. Cool atmosphere, its eclectic. The lady that served us Yvonne was nice. The place closed at 10 so I guess that's why they only had plain roti's. Kinda bummed, wanted to try the multigrain one. They didn't have lobster so I got crabmeat. They didn't have plaintains or rice..so choices were limited.. Uggh. We also ordered the boneless curried chicken roti. Way to oily . It was saturated to the point that you could see the oil lining the regular sauce, and when I told the chef(chris) he told us that was just what happens. He could care less an it showed. So as I am trying to get the specifics from the woman who answered the phone (with the purpose of being able to place an order in the future by knowing the delivery times) and she was flat out rude. She cut me off mid-sentence, said I had a long story for her, and I was just trying to find out when the delivery cut off times were. I have been going to Roti Road House since the very first day they opened. The owners Chris and Yvonne are very passionate about their food and it reflects in its delicious taste. My only gripe is the prices which are not competitive in an area which is saturated by similar themed restaurants. That being said ,it does allow them to be unique in their own right and create their own special niche. I mean it's not cheap to prepare only foods that are organic so I guess the prices are worth it in the end. Nice job guys and continue to reinvent. read more

There are many restaurants in the area competing for my dining out dollars and Roti Road House Cafe falls sadly near the bottom of that list. Today I ordered an ackee with veggie to go ($13) and arrived home only to discover that there was almost no ackee, really almost nothing, on the plate. I called the restaurant and was told by the chef that he had ran out - then why, make the dish, serve it and take payment? Now the chef did say that on my next order he would give me a discount but the "thing dun gone bad already" and the experience, my first at this establishment, left a bitter aftertaste. The Roti Road House Cafe enters into a crowded field of Caribbean restaurants and stood out mainly with its promise of healthy food but must realize that we wont eat from you if we cant trust what you putting on the plate and that you show respect for my hard earned dollars. The lady had an attitude after my boyfriend asked a simple question and said the chef wasn't there. Online the hours say they close at 8pm, so why is there no chef at 5pm and it's not closing time ? Second, the woman had her baby at the counter out in the open who was eating food on a high chair and threw food at me. She proceeded to do nothing and looked as if she didn't want to be bothered.
