Ordered the Large oxtails and Curry chicken. Both came with rice and peas. The curry also came with cabbage and just 2 plantains (I wish I had ordered extra plantains). I also had extra gravy of both on my rice and peas!! Goodness gracious! Oxtails were tender and well seasoned, Curry was just as delicious and had the perfect amount of heat for me. Portions were large and easily could be shared. This was our 2nd time patronizing and the last time which was over 6 months ago they didn't have a menu and still didn't...odd! After reading the Yelp reviews, my wife and I were interested in trying G's. Unfortunately, we did not find the food to be very good. We had the oxtail and fried chicken. Both came with beans and rice and plantains. We've had better Jamaican food at any number of restaurants. As other Yelpers have pointed out, the line moves slowly, even when there are two people behind the counter and a third working the cash register. Perhaps posting what's available and the pricing/menu options would speed things up. We had no idea what the combination options were until another patron explained how things work. Talk about the worst customer service ever. I come in say "hi how are you" the woman at the counter stares at me as if I was an idiot or something. Got my chicken patty she just mentions "$2.72" I say thank you and she doesn't say anything no thank you no good bye. Perhaps they need to hire people who actually like what they're doing. Very disappointed and turned off by the lack of professionalism and customer service, but not surprised! Walked in the restaurant; looked around for a menu or price list. Didn't see one. Asked for one. Asked sternly by the lady behind the counter, "what is it that you'd like to order?" Yikes. Oxtail, $15 for a small. $12 for a small curry goat. Decided to take the curry goat because my daughter said the oxtail was tough when she tried it the first time. Lady proceeds to fill container with rice and peas, then takes rice off. I guess she "put too much?" Hmmm strange, but okay. Starts to put curry goat in the container. I noticed she kept avoiding spooning from the areas with a lot of meat. I didn't say anything. Then she stops spooning and indicates that that's all. Not even a quarter filled with actual meat. (I found out later, while eating and taking out many bones and a big white potato.) For reference- I bought a small (same size container) from the Dominican restaurant on Lefferts and between the amount of yellow rice and curry goat, I could barely finish in one sitting. Cost: $10. Taste different, yet better. COVID has hurt many restaurants, so I make it a point to patronize small businesses. This restaurant, however, could not care less about my patronage nor their hospitality. The curry goat at Gs taste like any other "round the way" West Indian restaurant, yet charged $12 for bones and potatoes. I WILL NOT RETURN. Neither should you. read more

I went to this place for the first time. I ordered okra and salt fish and a side of fried fish cake pattie. The lady asked me what would be my side order for the salt fish and okra. I replied two bananas and yam no dumplings. She put a full spoon of okra little tiny bits of salt fish - rephrase no saltfish only okra I then mentioned to her that there no salt fish so do she mind putting callaloo and salt fish to mix it. She said I have to charge you additional fees. I told her disregard. I then ordered fried fish cake pattie. She went to register to charge me for the food not to mention over charge me for someone else food in conjunction with mine. I got to my place of business hungry and ready to eat. Honestly, this food is amazing and it just a short walk from my home so I never have to travel far. From my experience it's best so buy this dish from 9-10 Am. That's when the food taste hotter and the lines are way shorter. Updated review 9/2019. I don't understand the pricing at this place. Before, like 2 months ago a jerk chicken w rice and peas and oxtail gravy was $7 and change. I literally just ordered the same thing and only got back 10 and change. I gave her a $20 bill. They are not giving any receipts so I don't understand why every time I come here the prices change all the time. Then on top of that they charge u for using a credit card. I said to myself ok, I will pay cash maybe that's why. Same thing. Maybe because I'm not Jamaican they think they can pull a fast one on me. Mrs. G we love your food but these ridiculous prices got to go!!! I hope she is seeing and reading these posts. Also, every time I walk in the servers always have a frown on her face. Not welcoming at all. It's like you're bothering her to serve your food. You need better staff who are welcoming and friendly. I say hello and she gives me a hi and I'm a regular there. Sometimes expectations of some people are way too high or unrealistic. Don't get stuck on the few negative reviews. Ms. G's is solid. Clean, not slow, takes several forms of payment and the portions are decent. I don't cook oxtail at home because its expensive! so people shouldn't expect food to be dirt cheap. I enjoyed my oxtail dinner. Of course like most people you may know someone in the family whose food you may prefer more but that's just how it is. Restaurants can't be everything to everybody and some days may be better than others. The food is hot, fresh and tasty. The staff was quick to help. It makes me laugh for people to actually take the time to comment about a Jamaican restaurant staff being rude. Um, I think at this point I am pleasantly surprised if the staff at any Jamaican restaurant are actually nice. Rude kinda comes with the territory. lol. As long as they are clean and handle the food in a sanitary way they can roll eyes and kiss teeth all they want. I think the staff being pleasant was a real plus. Thank you ladies! Every time I come into town, I have to come here to get my Jamaican food fix. My favorite is the oxtail with rice and peas which as usual was excellent and the food is always plentiful. It was enough for me to have two servings. I also got the fried chicken with rice and peas with oxtail gravy on the rice, again very good. I got the stewed chicken which was OK and not something that I would get again. OVERALL this is a very good restaurant. read more
