Our project was a…read moresimple interior staircase and we were told they use all their own people and their contract Terms stated 90 days to complete the project. First of all their own people are designers and project managers, all labor is done by sub-contractors. Unless you are assigned their "A" team be very concerned because we initially were not and spent 4 miserable months under poor project management and poor carpentry work which had to be torn out twice. Nothing was installed to code twice and the railing was only held in place by three nails. During these first 4 months there was not one minute of work done one whole month. Finally executive management visited our home and immediately said to tear out everything and proceeded to change the project manager and assigned their No. 1 project manager, carpenter, painter and carpet installer. In just over another month because of minor problems we have a finished project. Total project took 98 days (only Mon-Fri counts) so we asked for price concessions since it exceeded the contract of 90 days and we are paying over $30,000. They conceded like $300 and said the delays were largely because of scheduling sub-contractors through a very busy 2022 fall. Of course there is wordage in the contract they can quote. It would have been a big risk on our part to go to court and possibly shelling out even more money to cover that expense. Definitely a terrible experience.

To say that I was pleased with UBuildIt doesn't even begin to describe the process. Everyone at UBuildIt is a true professional and is incredibly helpful and transparent. We had the pleasure of working directly with Jamie as our planning consultant and Frank as our general contractor. They were always there to answer our questions and were available to us at all times throughout the build process. They help from day one with lot identification and evaluation all the way to your final inspection. Unfortunately, they won't help you move all of your personal items into your wonderful new house! However, they are there to support you in any way that they can. Joe, UBuildIt owner, even helped me 'break' into our house when the key from our lock box got mistakenly left in a completely locked house. I don't know many other company owners that will do that for you (on a Sunday morning nonetheless). One of the big differences between UBuildIt and other 'traditional' builders is that they offer their services on a flat fee basis. Thus, they truly have your best interests as a homeowner at heart. They make the same amount of money whether you buy a $10,000 toilet or a $10 one. That's not true of other builders. Their process is very well-refined. They are experts in the construction business and will provide tons of value throughout the design and build process. Most new home owners have unrealistic budget expectations. UBuildIt provides their guidance and advice to keep you on budget and let you know when your expectations aren't necessarily realistic. The network of preferred subcontractors UBuildIt has established who will actually build your house are just as fantastic as they are. If you are interested in building a house, I highly suggest that you contact UBuildIt for a consult. You will not be disappointed. I have absolutely 0 regrets for choosing UBuildIt for our project.

We were so turned off at the initial meeting that we opted to continue searching for builders, and apparently, the representative we met with opted not to work with us, either. In short, we met with her for one hour and she took four...FOUR...personal phone calls within that time frame. We didn't say anything about it at the time, but no customer should have to tell a prospective builder how unprofessional that is. I can see maybe one phone call if it is urgent, but nothing about her personal calls seemed catastrophic enough to interrupt a meeting for. Strike one. We had received a PDF pamphlet of information with testimonials from previous customers. One customer had built a house which looked almost exactly like what we were looking for, within the price range we are staying in. Great, right? Wrong. During our meeting, the person we met with said that pamphlet is not only for their Oklahoma branch, and "prices are a lot cheaper in Oklahoma so we can't build for that cheap", but the pamphlet is also 8 years old? Why did you send it to us, then?! Strike two. Strike three happened when we told the rep the price range we wanted to stay in, between house building and land. The look on her face and the "well, there's no way we can build within that price range" statement that followed was enough. We have met with several builders over the last year, and our price range has been perfectly compatible for everyone else. Nonetheless, we cordially finished the meeting and we asked her to send us information on their simplest model house, thinking that maybe, just MAYBE, we would keep this company on the table. She said she would email the info to us the next day. She never did. We never heard from her again after our initial meeting. We felt this lady was nothing short of rude and insulting. Will not even consider U Build It after our meeting with her.

During my military career I spent several years as a Drill Sergeant at Fort Knox. The greatest skill I took away from that experience was my training in spotting imperfections in detail. If there is a spot, or thread out of place, I will see it, and it haunts me until I have it corrected. With my new home, I have slept deeper than I have in years. I have been in my Belman home long enough to have found a flaw; to date, I haven't found any. It feels great to finally find a team of people who appreciate the details as much as I do.

I was so excited when I discovered the new home we were buying was built by Belman in 2001. Well…read morenow that I have lived in this house for 2 years, my opinion has changed. All the floors creak horribly, bedroom and bathroom doors do not close properly. We had some remodeling done last winter by another company and was able to have their carpenter fix some of these issues, of course at a cost $100 an hour. Then we hired some professional painters and they needed to do some repairs before painting. They discovered whomever drywalled the ceiling used the wrong kind of tape, which had started to let go and come down. There are little round pop outs all around the ceiling edges. Found out these are nail heads that are starting to come down due to gravity. I guess they should have used screws not nails. I had tried to contact Belman regarding the creaking floors and possible remodeling, but they were not interested.

Home Depot's deal was that since we ordered the cabinetry from them, we got a deal by using them to install it. After a couple of problems with Home Depot, they accepted our request to "fire" them and Crestone took an even bigger part of the job. They've done a lot of work in the Shorewood area and I've only heard positive things about them. We've since used them for a bathroom remodel, installing new windows, and redoing the master bedroom closet. They use quality people and work at a fairly good pace for a contractor.

Our project was a complete modern remodel of all three bathrooms and laundry room of our 30 year old house. Gina's designs and attention to detail caught our attention and she (and Dustin) worked with us through several revisions to the proposal to get things exactly the way we wanted them. They started the project within about a month of our signing the proposal which was much appreciated. Their proposal was very competitive as compared with another (big) company we got a proposal from. We ended up saving a lot of money but got the high end finishes such as LVP flooring and Kohler plumbing fixtures that we wanted. Our remodel went smoothly and Dustin and his crew were an absolute pleasure to work with. They finished the project on time and it turned out perfect - exactly what we had hoped for. The subcontractors that were brought in for electrical, plumbing, drywall, and paint work were a pleasure to work with. Gina's stylish sense of design was just what we wanted. We received rave reviews from family and friends about what we had done. She even helped us a lot with decorating suggestions for the remodeled rooms. After having been almost embarrassed about the state of these four important rooms of the house, it is now a pleasure to use all of them. The value of the remodel has been great and we have no regrets. The quality of the work and materials has been durable since the work was done a year ago. We now smile when we use any of the rooms. I hesitated in writing this review because my husband and I like Dustin and Gina, but feel it is…read moreour consumer due diligence to share our experience with Twine In Design LLC. We hired Twine In Design to update all the interior doors, casings and floor moldings in our 2 story home from original oak to colonial style white and 2 panel solid core doors. We are overall dissatisfied with the quality of work that was done. The attention to detail is sub-par resulting in us having to go back through and recaulk many of the corners of the trim that had 2-3mm gaps, live with a barn door that is too narrow for the door opening, 1 1/4 inch gaps under every door (including sliders), floor molding that is set up too high, a door that rubs against the frame when it closes, wall damage, really bad trim cuts (everywhere), unlevel doors and overall really poor quality of materials (they purchased from Western). We brought all of these concerns up to Dustin and Gina over several in person and phone conversations and kept getting excuses such as "that is the way the door was manufactured", "you are going to have wall damage from installing trim", "there is nothing I can do about that", "it's like that because of the carpet" and so on. He did admit to not doing some items right the first time which he went back and fixed - kind of. Dustin also spent an extra day fixing the many many items that were not done correctly but caulk can't fix everything and we are seeing that now. Credit to them for contacting Western to get the damaged doors replaced. We have since noticed other defects like trim pieces being cracked that should not have been used in the first place. We told Dustin several times to slow down and take his time; we are unsure if he just rushed the entire project or this was his first job of this nature - we think both. By his last day on the job, it was obvious he wanted to be done and I was so frustrated, I wanted him to be done, too, despite being really unhappy with the end result and the amount of money we paid to have this work completed. We now have to live with these defects in our new home which drive me personally crazy every day and every day I kick myself for not doing more homework on the company we hired and not putting my foot down when were dissatisfied with the work being completed from the very beginning.
