Definitely recommend. Thank you Anchorstrong.

I feel compelled to share our latest alarming experience with Anchorstrong. An employee, Joe Essy,…read morethreatened us via email, stating that he might file false reports against us unless we removed our honest Yelp reviews. He also suggested that he might leave negative reviews for a kind handyman we've worked with and file false reports against him, despite never having used his services. We also asked Joe to provide the permit he claimed to obtain for our project, as required by our contract. Several weeks have passed with no response, leading us to believe he never secured it. Rosie (Office Manager) and Steve (owner) were copied on our email, and we forwarded Joe's threatening email to them as well, but they have not responded. I also have serious concerns that Joe may have created multiple accounts to post fake reviews, including negative ones for others that reflect the threats he made in his email to us, as well as positive ones for his own business and employer. Yelp has removed several reviews based on these issues, and I have documented evidence to support my claims. Believe it or not, Joe has done more shady things, which we've documented. To keep this more concise, I'm highlighting just these examples but there are many more. In my opinion, Joe's behavior is not only beyond unprofessional but also seems unhinged to me. Who engages in such extreme, dishonest tactics against their customers simply because they left honest feedback? Providing feedback is our right as customers and a key purpose of Yelp. Multiple individuals who interacted with Joe raised serious concerns about his questionable honesty, erratic temperament, and disrespectful behavior. The emails I shared from Costco are just a few examples of this (see photos I posted in this review). Instead of simply addressing valid feedback, Joe resorts to intimidation tactics. His actions made me feel unsafe enough to install a security camera, especially since Joe said he lost the key to our front door. It's deeply disturbing that Joe has threatened to unfairly target us and this handyman--who has nothing to do with this situation and doesn't even know Joe--in what seems to be retaliation for our honest reviews. This handyman is genuinely kind, hardworking, and excellent at his job. He does not deserve this treatment at all. Since Joe mentioned he provides handyman services himself, Joe's threats also raise serious concerns about a conflict of interest. Based on our experience, it seems Joe is willing to go to very extreme lengths, including unethical tactics, to silence honest reviews, suggesting serious issues. His intimidating behavior has been completely unjustified and, in my opinion, it's shameful. Anchorstrong has failed to meet their contractual obligations, leaving us with substantial damages and financial losses, and refusing to refund us or work with us toward a fair resolution. After we paid them over $34K, we've faced intimidation, which we have proof of, instead of accountability. As paying customers, it's disheartening to experience such unethical treatment. If you work with them, be prepared for the same treatment. Also, ensure all permits are actually secured. I didn't want to write this update because this company isn't worth anyone's time, but their intimidation has led me to warn others and I hope it helps someone make a more informed decision. We've never encountered such appalling treatment from a vendor before. To Anchorstrong: We have every right to post honest reviews. Stop trying to intimidate us. While we've accepted that you won't provide the fair refund we are owed after taking our money, we simply want to be left alone--and for others to be left alone as well. The photos of Joe's shoddy work and the damages he caused speak for themselves. We face significant expenses to fix these issues, in addition to the $34K+ we already paid you and the other losses we incurred due to your failure to meet your contractual obligations. You have not reimbursed us, and we are left to cover these costs ourselves. Why threaten us? Haven't you done enough to us? We don't want to deal with you any further. Please leave us alone.

The update itself was fairly simple, but I couldn't find an architect/engineer who was willing to charge a fair price or hold realistic expectations (one person sent me a proposal for a year-long plan for this!). TY Engineering was next on the list and they were immediately different from the others. Most noticeably, the first thing Tolga suggested in our email was to meet in person so that he can understand the situation I'm in, and the actions required to fix it. No other engineer I contacted had even brought this up. When I scheduled an appointment with them, I could tell that he had the mindset of an engineer: quick, to the point, and trying to do it at the lowest cost possible to me. The team itself is fairly small so things never got bogged down in chain of command or bureaucracy. Tolga and his team were able to get me my required documents quickly for a flat price, and continued to work with me as I sorted out the situation. For their quick work and fair prices, I highly recommend TY Engineering and Design for any kind of structural or real estate design work.

Jeremy was informative, responsive and customer service oriented. I first called him when I noticed…read morecracks in the stucco on the outside of my house and hairline cracks on the interior drywall. He came over and did some quick measurements and was able to tell us which direction and roughly how much our foundation was settling. He explained that in our area, clay-rich soils expand and contract with the wet/dry seasons and our issue was likely due to poor drainage in our backyard that allowed water to pool and seep under the foundation prompting one side of our house's foundation to settle (sink) incrementally over the years until the tension started to cause the cracking we observed. Based on the amount that our house had settled he said we were right in the gray area between just needing to improve our drainage and monitoring for further settling, or going the more expensive route and having helical supports installed under our foundation to prevent our foundation from settling further. Jeremy was not pushing us in either direction, just presenting us the information and allowing us to make our own decision. After doing a significant amount of research on foundation settling, we looked into getting some quotes and Jeremy provided multiple contractor references. We had four contractors come out and found that they each provide free quotes that included measuring with advanced equipment to determine precisely how much the foundation has settled (only around 1-2") throughout all sides of the house. Their mapping was more detailed, but fairly consistent with what Jeremy had originally told us which provided us some level of comfort that they weren't manipulating the numbers to sell us on needing more piers. There was one contractor whose measurements came in more significant than all the others, but it was not one of the contractors that Jeremy had referenced. Even though we weren't an extreme case, for peace of mind to stop the house from having any further settling, we ended up going with a contractor that Jeremy had referenced who had proposed a middle-ground approach using a limited amount of helical supports and expanding polyurethane foam to support our problem area. We were very happy with their work and it was a solid reference from Jeremy. Jeremy did also offer to help us draw up plans and assist with permitting if we opted to go that route, but due to the smaller size of the job, we chose not to pursue that option. There is a lot to navigate with evaluating foundation issues and deciding what route to take for each individual situation. It is helpful to have a knowledgeable resource like Jeremy who helped get us started and provide some helpful guidance along the way. Thanks Jeremy. *Note - photos are of third party contractor referenced by Jeremy to give Yelpers an idea of what final work ends up looking like.

His explanations were detailed and easy to understand. The project was fairly complex--it included expanding our living space by building two bedrooms and a bathroom above the garage, as well as removing walls in the kitchen to create an open-concept layout downstairs that required new structural support. From start to finish, their team demonstrated a high level of professionalism and expertise. They took the time to fully understand our vision and translated it into a thoughtful, well-executed design. Their structural plans were clear and thorough, which made the construction process much smoother. Even when we encountered constraints due to city regulations, they worked closely with us to develop a revised design that both met approval requirements and aligned with our needs.
