Rm mechanical came out to diagnose my older hvac unit. The technician was nice and knowledgeable, but........ He checked the refrigerant and as we suspected it was about 5 lbs low. Obviously a leak. He got his equipment and sniffed all the lines and said the only leak was at the spreader valve..showed me the video of the bubbling at the valve. I asked if it could be fixed and recharged as it was emergency as my wife has a medical condition and cannot be in the heat like we were (92 degrees in house) He told me it would be about 1500.00 to change out faulty valve and refill refrigerant. I had no choice, and no comparison as to what refrigerant should cost. I paid the money, he supposedly changed out valve and refilled refrigerant. 3 days later, AC blowing no cold air again. Pissed off is putting it nicely...... I sent email to tech asking what happened and why this happened after spending so much money. He replied that my system is old and I guess there is other leaks? Did you not tell me you sniffed the lines and the only leak you discovered was the valve? Said he recommended replacing the system and would send me a quote. I feel like we were taken advantage of, as the technician clearly stated he sniffed the system and found the leak. In the 5 years we lived here the system did not leak out that much refrigerant. So to lose the refrigerant I just paid 1500.00 for in 3 days??? Called home warranty who said they called the technician with no answer... left messages for him to call us back and come back to honor their repairs....no call back, no email, nothing Needless to say due to my wife's medical condition I had to have a new unit installed immediately. As you can guess I did not use RM mechanical. Be wary. After talking with several other people and different companies. The same repair would have cost me about half of what I was charged. Russ the owner of RM Mechanical was to install roof top package unit and remove the existing swamp coolers on a 10 room hotel remodel project. They came in $3500 more expensive than other companies but they could do it in the timeframe I needed. The install went fine, but were very dirty, and used the white guest towels to clean up their mess. They destroyed the towels and were mad when I confronted them about them. Over the next year the hotel was getting renovated and only had 5 weekends that were open. The heater worked good for the first 3 stays. The AC was only used 2 times and on the 2nd time used, guests informed staff there was water coming from the ceiling. Turns out the hvac condensation was leaking into the attic. The insulation soaked up the water but after being used for days in end, the water leak finally leaked into the hotel. The time the problem was found was 1 year 3 weeks after install. The problem has been occurring since install but wasn't detected until after 1 year mark. RM Mechanical refused to come out for warranty call unless I pay and almost $300 service call. They state "the problem should have been found in the first year, it's past 1 years warranty so if I come out, it's service call fee" 1) The refuse to warranty and have any customer service 2)are super messy and leave construction debris in the attic thinking no one will notice 3) more expensive then most I would not recommend this company. read more

After this experience, it will be hard to give anyone else a 5 star rating. Rus is everything you want in a contractor, but have probably have never experienced. He's professional, organized, extremely capable and competent, efficient, clean, reliable, proactive and engaged, present, on time, communicative, and honest. I got an entire new HVAC system: AC, heat pump, replaced ducts and insulation and installed a new house fan. Billing was simple and fair. He coordinated, scheduled and followed up in real time on city inspections. He showed up personally on day one to make sure the insulation removal service was there. He answers calls and questions, and stands by his work. The city inspector said he was really impressed with the work as well. He handled all of the energy rebates with the city and built that into the quote. So easy and peace of mind is priceless. read more

What great service! Came home from work to a very HOT house. This was a few weeks back when the weather was steadily in the high 90's-low 100's. It was already about 4:30PM when I started calling around to see who could come out and help us. Started with the "big names" and then worked my way to the local smaller companies. As good as it gets!" and that's Russ of RM Mechanical. He's been a blessing to us when it comes to our AC needs. He's not a pushy salesman trying to sell you something you don't need (like THREE other local AC companies that came out to check our unit last year when it was leaking refrigerant and presented me with bids ranging in the thousands to tens of thousands of dollars - I kid you not!) Their tactics were shameful and just short of criminal. Nevertheless they're out there so buyer beware. Russ and RM Mechanical, on the other hand, are in a class of their very own! Russ is amazing. Consumers are often at a miserable disadvantage when it comes to breakdowns and repairs (be it auto, washing machines or in my case, AC unit). Our limited or lack of knowledge when it comes to HVAC units make us easy prey, at least admittedly for me it does because I know very little to nothing when it comes to how these complicated systems actually operate. Russ is one of those guys who never takes advantage of that. Instead, he gets out here, troubleshoots the problem and gets right to work to figure things out, then... he patiently takes the time to explain the problem (in a very basic and easy to understand manner) which I truly appreciate. I'm a real estate professional, I used RM Mechanical many times before. But I would like to share my last experience with Russ of RM Mechanical. My client had a problem with her A/C. She had a home warranty plan. She called home warranty company and ordered a service. A technician that came out had diagnosed a wrong problem and home warranty plan refused to repair A/C based on their technician's report. I called RM Mechanical and asked him to come out as a second opinion. Russ was able to come rather quickly. He was able to find a real cause of the problem and fixed it at that same visit. It actually saved a lot of money for the home warranty plan as their technician pointed a different, much higher cost problem. Called RM Mechanical to come and check out my A/C problem. After paying for the diagnostic ($70), I was given an estimate and repair that seemed extremely bloated and suspecious. I called another company to get a second opinion. The second company confirmed my suspecions. They not only did a diagnostic, but were able to also do the repair that day. RM Mechanical wanted to charge me 5 1/2 times more money and claimed they needed to hire several people to do the job that only took one man to do! Please Note! I was contacted by RM via email in which he tried to bully me into removing this reveiw. This review is 100% real and I have all documentation. I would be more suspecious of the supposed good reviews. PS...this guy also made a derogatory comment to me while he was at my house. After our A/C stopped working on Sunday (when it was 103 degrees) I took to yelp to find a reputable company to repair our system. We had use a company a few years ago to repair our A/C that you see TV commercials all the time, but were not happy with the service or the price. RM Mechanical came up in the top 10 companies for A/C Repair in yelp with great reviews, so I took a chance and called Russ first thing Monday morning. He was able to schedule a same day appointment. When he showed up he was very courteous and knowledgeable and in a short amount of time tested our system saw a part that was under performing, replaced it and viola our A/C was working again.
