In January I was looking for a coffee show near where we stayed and came across RM Coffee! Went back 3 times on that trip and could not wait to visit again during my May visit! What a gem we found on our way home from Palm Desert. The pastries are perfectly made. Even though most were sold out we enjoyed the chocolate croissant and the cinnamon roll . This is a must go. Although it is primarily focused on coffee and other beverages, I love the amazing French pastries. The case is full of some choices that make it difficult to choose. My personal favorite is the pineapple coconut pastry. Imagine a flat croissant that is light and fluffy and filled with a sweet coconut filling, with fresh pineapple sliced across the top and nicely glazed. The desserts are not only delicious, but they are also beautiful. Plus if you're an iced tea drinker like I am there are many variations he has on just black to green teas. Always wanted to check out this place. Stopped by today and there were no customers and one staff person was there. Upon entering , I was struck that I was not greeted at all. While perusing the menu , I was never acknowledged or asked if I wanted anything. After about 3 mins I just walked out. Not a welcoming experience. We came here after seeing so many great reviews. Philippe greeted us as soon as we walked in. The inside decor recommended me of New York. I ordered an iced honey latte and my husband ordered an iced caramel latte, both with oat milk. There is also a case full of delicious-looking pastries. I ordered a chocolate pastry because I couldn't resist. There's seating outside, but we decided to sit inside. Our drinks and pastry were really good. Wasn't the best experience from the beginning. The simple vanilla latte was horrible. Nothing like having fresh brewed coffee from the espresso machine. His coffee was nothing like that. Also he mentioned he doesn't like us to put our coffee cup in the front table (what a joke) because he don't wanna clean it up if it spills. & also mentioned he prefers customers to pay with card..than cash (ridiculous) said he couldn't give me a receipt after being short. I ordered a lovely lavender latte and asked the the staff if he could heat up a ham and cheese croissant for me, he responded warmly, "An-ee-thing iz poss-ee-bal!" The staff member I learned was the owner who was born in France but lived in California for 16? years, his cafe has been opened for 4 years. While not a full-on patisserie, you'll be able to select from everything short of baguettes, with perfectly lovely croissants (very light crunch on the outside, buttery lamination creating a fluffy interior), and delightful pastries and quiches. The coffee includes both drip and espresso (the cafe au lait with a triple shot was well prepared and very nicely priced).
