Early the next morning, I had a message from Adam B. Once I got to work, I returned the call and quickly described my issue and what I believed it to be. The first available appointment wasn't until Monday (it wasn't urgent, so I wasn't worried about going the weekend). I got my timeframe. I had a couple other appointments that day, so I ended up taking the day off so I could easily be available. I immediately liked that they told me who would be arriving - AND that was who arrived. I also liked that they use a customer portal that allows you to have some security if you pay online or to review your records. Christian arrived (there was one other person with him). It took him a couple minutes to diagnose the issue he believed it to be, and it took him not a lot longer to determine that diagnosis correct. He quoted the price, I agreed, and he got to work. After finishing the work, he determined the original issue I'd believed it to be wasn't quite needing to be addressed (but will be in the near future). We discussed options, including ways I could save a bit. Christian was personable and explained things in a way I could understand. The issue was likely caused by me, but he managed to avoid using the word "idiot" at any point. The repair was done in a timely manner. The price ended up being a bit lower than quoted. I appreciated his honesty as he very easily could have pointed me toward a repair not needing done yet. It also became obvious the last person I'd used had really only done half the job. Everything has worked beautifully since Christian finished. There are likely a couple more projects I'll tackle in the near future, and I won't hesitate to return to Grateful Plumber. The housecall was $59, but that was credited toward the repair once I decided to have them do the work. Friendly employees. Good follow-through. Fair pricing. Quality work. Problem solved. That's 5-star for me and another winner for Yelp's project feature.

Meanwhile late in the day someone from my Dad's church volunteered to come and look at the issue. The issue is fixed. I called the grateful plumber as soon as I had a chance , because of everything that is going on. The voice mail said that cancellations done in less than 24 hours would still require the service fee. I left a message and cancelled the appointment then I get a text that their service guy is on his way. I called back and talked with the owner I'm assuming and he said he is charging us a service fee anyway. That it was too late to call off his guys and that they had been holding this spot for me. Understand, our system had NEVER been serviced since it was installed decades ago. After talking with the people in the store, I tried to replace the resin bed myself. With no skills of this kind, I pestered the employees over and over again before I made the exchange for a new resin bed. They were fully interested in solving my problem and took a model system apart in front of me several times before I had the courage to try it on my own at home. Through the many demonstrations, the team members never once let me see any sign of disgust or aggravation with my incompetence. I don't know how they kept from rolling their eyes. I eventually scheduled a service call due to a possible problem with the replaced resin bed. Eventually, we had to have a second service call before the problem was corrected. After all of that, I received a call from Jon, the Greenwood store manager, the morning after the system was fixed. The technician that had been at our house the day before had explained that the need for the service call was possibly due to a fault with the replacement resin bed. The company is not charging us for the service calls. This is not the kind of service that I am used to seeing in our world any longer. This company is in the business of making happy customers. Recently, I asked them to replace all filters in our RO system, which was overdue. While the technician was pleasant, I was upset that the cost was $368 in total for materials and about 15 minutes of his time. To be fair, that included replacing the membrane, but they have become substantially overpriced based on my research. Between the poor quality of the RO spigot and the high cost, would not recommend.

What has been most concerning is not the issue itself, but the lack of follow-through after responsibility was acknowledged in writing. This has resulted in an ongoing disruption to our home and a very frustrating experience.
