Hands down the very BEST equestrian training stable whether you're a beginner or more an advanced rider, western or English. If you want to learn to ride, improve your riding or need help training your horses properly, & your nervous as a new rider, the lesson horses there are safe & amazing, & Robert Nava is the guy!! Robert is an excellent horseman but is patient & kind with the lesson goers always pointing out the positive with "great job," or "looks great"! Always Important for confidence building! You learn more there than just riding, grooming, etc. You learn horsemanship! The stable is located on Stokes Canyon in beautiful Malibu!! It's so incredible there, with trails, right out the gate or just taking lessons in the large arena with Robert ~ I love that there is round pen too if needed. Everything you need is there depending on your goals. Western or English & or brand new to horses! Again, Robert is so the patient, so great with kids too! He teaches, safety, patience & confidence!! My daughter's progress and skill level immediately increased when we stared working with Robert and RJN Stables. The community is warm and supportive. The barn is beautiful and well maintained. My horse, Lennon is a rescued mustang and has been through quite a bit. I have known Robert for 3 years after going through 5 various trainers over 7 years prior to that. He is very warm and caring person and he has a really big heart - quite an asset these days! He treats everybody with equal respect - be it a 7-year old little rascal, or an older assertive dude like me. Most importantly, he treats every horse like his family member. We actually refer to them as "family". I think what is special about RJN Stables wherever they are located (we had to change our location a couple of times) is that special "love is in the air" atmosphere. I've had my young horse in training with Rob for about 4 or 5 months now and I couldn't be happier with how things have progressed. He has a way about him that is very gentle and calm but firm. Horses work for him because they want to. He is quite amazing with young, sensitive horses especially I think. Safety is paramount to Rob and he doesn't cut corners. He has a very strong work ethic and the horses in his charge get worked on a regular schedule that keep their minds and bodies fit and conditioned. I have never witnessed any injuries to horses due to pushing them too hard too soon. Rob will challenge you and stretch you out of your comfort zone at times, but he does so in a very easy going way that builds on your skills. He doesn't yell or make you feel insecure. Robert and the team are brilliant. My riding form and confidence has increased significantly in a very short time. I rode as a kid, but was never taught properly. Fast forward many years and now I'm finally learning English style and properly. The horses are happy, healthy and lovely. Robert is very knowledgeable and a good trainer. It's also great to see the trainer ride, which I've not previously experienced at other stables. Sometime you'll see Robert riding during your lesson, it's inspiring but also it means he can monitor your positioning better, instead of always at a distance. Your encouraged to connect with the horses and you learn how to take care of them, this helped me build confidence. All of the other horse owners/leasee I've met there are friendly and welcoming. My daughter has been riding for 5 years and RJN is the third stable we've been to in that time. We've been at RJN for six months. In that six months my daughter has learned to do more than she had learned in the previous 4.5 years of riding!!! Robert (the owner) has the the bar set VERY high for all other stables in my opinion. Not only has my daughter learned SO much in such a short time, but the joy felt at RJN Stables is palpable. The horses are so clearly loved and well cared for. At the two previous stables we rode at the horses were lethargic (clearly over ridden) and just seemed down. The 'trainers' at the other stables, and I use that term loosely, did the bare minimum but had no real passion for teaching. At RJN, Robert personally teaches every single lesson himself. He is extremely hands on, dedicated to the horses and their well being, and cares that his students are thriving. He pushes them to grow their riding skills while keeping their safety first and foremost. Lastly, Robert dedicates a good deal of time to teaching the students not just how to ride, but also how to groom, feed, tack, dress, bathe and care for the horses. My horse is very cautious when meeting men, not sure why. He totally vibes energy for sure and is cautious and keeps clear. He took an instant liking to Robert. That's all it took for me.
