Markeith, the business owner, has years of tree cutting & tree climbing experience. His team also has years of experience and they have worked together for a long time making their communication on the job extremely efficient especially considering all the literal moving parts for the job I needed done. They took down branches up to 80 feet high off of 10 trees and expertly felled 4 more trees. I enjoyed watching them climb the trees and using the bucket lift. Markeith explained how he is able to climb up hard wood trees and not damage them but using the bucket is needed to preserve the health of softer trees like beech and pine as climbing can damage them although there are spikeless techniques he can use when required. He also showed me how fungus effects the trees and I was impressed by his knowledge. They were recommended by a family friend and although they are out of Ravena they had no problem servicing the 7 acre plot of land I needed worked on in Saratoga County. They price match and came in under the 4 other quotes I got and I'm certain they did more work than any of the other operations I received quotes from would have done. I'm very happy I chose these guys. They have 9 other 5 star reviews on Yelp that show up as "not recommended" for some reason. I will definitely use these guys again!

However when the job started I didn't realize Jeff wouldn't be involved much at all. Instead the Foreman running the job didn't share the same values as Jeff, He is actually a complete HACK and I would never let him in my home again. Jeff's price was by far not the cheapest but I thought it would be worth it for a job well done. Instead all the electrical, plumbing, and HVAC was done by the foreman who clearly has no business to be in that line of work. It was all done incorrectly, with many shortcuts taken. He also lied and cheated his way through every inspection process that clearly needed to be done. After many missed deadlines, a job that was estimated to take 8 weeks was stretched to over 20 weeks where I was finally forced to remove this company from the job and spend more time and money finishing with other contractors. After just a few short months I am already having issues with the work McDonald Construction performed.

They were quick to arrive, kept two appointments digging the channel and burying the culvert. Rather than get a third culvert, they advised that too much erosion below would result, and that instead they would bring in a load of rock to cover with soil to complete the task. That was in May. They took payment for the whole job at that time, even though it wasn't complete. After a couple of exchanged texts and brief replies over the summer like "of course we'll come back", they have now blocked me from sending text messages to their number and have evidently decided to keep the money for the remainder of the project and not return? It has now been over two months since they promised they would return. They did good work with the initial part of the project and were a pleasure to work with. I did not frequently text them, I'm not sure what happened, but they did not finish my project and the kept the remainder of the funds.
