The Riviera Waterfront Mansion. So much goes into planning your big day. With Riviera you have someone on your side that can help you every step of the way. Irene and Tara were so helpful throughout the entire process. The day turned out beautifully. They are a well-oiled machine that makes the day flow easily and calmly. The grounds are beautiful and the staff were great to work with. So many guests complimented the food and were surprised with the abundance of it. They readily accommodated special requests that made our day unique and special. The venue itself is unique in that it has a beautiful, well-manicured outdoor panoramic water view for cocktail hour and ceremony, but then has a warm rustic feel inside with exposed wood beams and high ceilings. Just lovely! Unfortunately, we had an "officiant emergency" the night before the wedding. It had nothing to do with the Riviera, but I called Irene for help. She made it her mission to help us out so we were prepared for the next day. You find out the quality of the people you are dealing with when an emergency comes up. They went above and beyond. We got married here on 5/20/23. The weather was just terrible and I was completely bummed to not be able to use the outdoor ceremony site but by the end of the night I had completely forgotten about the weather. The indoor ceremony was so incredibly beautiful and the photos were gorgeous. From the maitre'd Megan to the bridal attendant to Irene to the wait staff to the bartenders, we could not have asked for a better experience. Our daughter and son-in-law were married at THE RIVIERA on Sat. 5/22/21. IT TRULY WAS SPECTACULAR. From start to finish, it simply exceeded our expectations. As we rolled up, a blue sunny sky and BIG smiles awaited. The staff greeted us as THE RIVIERA quickly become alive...glasses were clinking, dinnerware was set and flowers placed abound. Recently attended a wedding reception at Riviera. It was a lovely location on the water with great areas for pictures. The interior has a rustic feel. Warm and dark wooden features with lovely classic decor. The dock in the back and sunset view was an added surprise. The weather wasn't quite right for the full enjoyment of the outdoors at the time went though. The cocktail hour had a nice set up in a decent sized room. The quality of food was good and variety was great. I had chicken scarpariello, shrimp dishes, pasta dishes, and much more. They had a carving station, fruit station and the cold appetizers. The food was spread out so it was not all in one spot. There was one full bar area that was open during the cocktail area and the reception. There was also a cigar station for the reception. For the dinner courses it was the choices of chicken, fish steak etc. I chose the stuffed flounder. It was good and had a lot of seafood inside it. I enjoyed the cocktail hour food much more!!! Fried zucchini, ravioli and bacon wrapped scallops!!! The servers were a bit stingy if you didn't ask for them to add more though. (I got three noodles served at the pasta area until I just asked for more, lol. My salad was missing croutons and the chicken at dinner was a bit dry when I tried some. The service looked like it needed some more servers or more experience. They were not quite "ready" for the evening. I had to ask for lemons about 7 times before I got some. I also asked for coffee since I wasn't drinking or espresso and that wasn't available until dessert. There should be options for those not drinking and need a pick me up before the night is over. My daughter had her wedding here this past weekend. I had never been here before, but was impressed from the moment I walked through the front doors. This is not one of those wedding factory catering halls- the place has a much more intimate feel. Every area of the venue has been carefully and beautifully decorated- from the front foyer, to the beautiful staircase leading up to the bridal suite, to the wedding ceremony area, to the reception hall and cocktail hour sections. The staff were very friendly and accommodating- you can tell that they really want to make your day as special and memorable as possible. My only complaint- the food was okay, but not great. Quality was inconsistent- the shrimp cocktail was rubbery, but the calamari was good. The filet was tender and tasty, but the chicken was bland and not memorable. Desserts were fantastic though- selection of cakes, pastries, cookies, candies. A sugar-lover's delight. Thank you for helping to make my only daughter's wedding such a wonderful event! read more

The Riviera made our wedding dreams come true! We were looking for a venue that had a unique look and feel and was on the water. As soon as we saw The Riviera's stunning ballroom with the balcony we were sold! From the moment we walked in the door we immediately felt like family. The staff is incredible and they were so accommodating to ensure that we had the perfect wedding day. The entire banquet team was great to work with throughout the process and there was no need to hire a wedding coordinator because they handled everything. Julie was our maitre de and Christina was our bridal attendant they were the best and made sure that we were fed, hydrated and having the best time. The weather was touch and go for us that day and we weren't sure if it was going to rain but they were so flexible and waited until the last possible second for us to decide where to hold the ceremony and the weather ended up being perfect. It was so great having that flexibility. The food was incredible! Our guests raved about it all night. We also used all of their preferred vendors so everything executed flawlessly. It saddens me to have to write a 2 star review for my wedding. I got married here two weeks ago and I must say while this day was all I ever dreamed of, dealing with management at The Riviera nearly ruined it. I booked my wedding two years ago with the old management team who seemed nothing but helpful, sweet, and accommodating. Getting closer to the wedding I had not heard from The Riviera so I reached out to the banquet manager only to get no response. I called and called and finally heard that the person I had been working with was let go. I eventually came in to finalize all details with the new management and what a mistake that was. From the moment I met Irene, the new manager I was very upset with the way I was treated. They make it feel like they are a factory churning out weddings ignoring that for you, this is something you have looked forward to your whole life. They made me change my wedding time (6 months before the big day), refused to give me or my vendors enough time to set up or get ready there, made every request feel like a hassle, and honestly made me feel like a burden. They were hard to get in contact with, honestly just completely straight up rude. Getting closer to my big day, I had the pleasure of working with Elena, she was much sweeter and accommodating. She truly was great but it felt as though under the direction and supervision of Irene, there was only so much she could do to help and accommodate us. I really wish I could have only worked with Elena, I believe my experience would have been a lot better. The day of my wedding, everything started out amazingly. The place was breathtaking. The wait and bar staff unbeatable. My maitre d and bridal attendant were attentive and incredible. The food was really fantastic and I got so many compliments! Honestly, I was so happy with how the day was until the end. While my wedding was beginning to go over slightly in time, instead of politely coming in and wrapping things up, Irene was there to be rude yet again. She came in, UNPLUGGED my DJ which to be honest is truly unbelievable. They broke down my wedding in front of guests, told my vendors they had 30 minutes to be out, pulled a drink out of guest's hand, and quickly turned my perfect day sour. It was visible to every guest that something was wrong and while I know there was a wedding after mine, a few hours later, how could a place that you trust to make your wedding perfect, do this to you? If you can't handle two weddings in a day don't book them. If the management was better, this place would hands down be getting 5 stars. I scheduled a site tour for this venue about a week ago, for today. My fiancé and I currently live in Virginia so it was imperative that I scheduled site tours for wedding venues as we are having our wedding in Long Island, where we both grew up. I was so excited to visit the site because of the location and rustic-like venue. The wood floors and fireplaces won me over. However, I'm extremely disappointed in the service I received. My fiance's grandmother and his sister, my best friend, met with Michelle. She was very inattentive. She was on the phone when we arrived and even after we were instructed to enter the office, she remained on the phone. It was a few minutes shy of 11:30am and she was making an appointment for someone to view the venue at 12pm! Our tour lasted 7 minutes! I asked her to show us the bridal suite and she told us to walk up the stairs and check it out ourselves because her office phone was "ringing off the hook". She never asked how many guests I wanted, she didn't tell us about their preferred vendors, she didn't show us the outside grounds, & there were so many unanswered questions because she had to answer her office phone. She lacked enthusiasm & interest in helping us. Lastly, the floor in the main room was filthy. There were remnants from what seemed to be a previous party (papers and other leftover trash). I was set that Long Island only had an amazing atmosphere for weddings. Only downside were the chefs that didn't match it's class. This place had surprised me. The food was great. Better then any other venue's I have catered, attend, or just visit. Compliments to the chef! I absolutely love this place. It's not overly glamorous or extravagant. I came here for a wedding and there are complete 5 star and 1 star points to this place. First, pulling up to this place in te middle of a neighborhood seemed weird, but it was gorgeous! Like some sort of ski lodge was plopped down on Long Island, and then given the perfect sprawling patio and dockside lounge areas. The cocktail hour started off with strawberries and champagne and we walked out to the patio to the most amazing spread I have ever seen. This should have just been the wedding food. Not only was it vast from charcuterie and antipasto to Italian classics, appetizer favorites, but there were seafood and carving stations too. Absurd. Then different items not available on the line were being passed.... Most of us figured we weren't getting a meal after but we were. Inside the tables were a bit congested and close together, also very oddly shaped on how they were set up, probably due to the wedding being close what many on here are stating the capacity is. Another note, the sweetheart table was sort of in the middle so they had their backs to some guests and were pointed towards the dance floor. The meals came out incredibly staggered an honestly the food was blech compared to the spread we had earlier. Timing and large quantities never seem to work out well for sit down meals at weddings. The built in balcony made perfect for the bouquet toss, but oh my.... The bride pegged it square onto the chandelier and it had to be retrieved and rethrown. I missed dessert but heard it was pretty amazing, not only did they have cake but the full Bavarian dessert spread. read more

Overall was happy how the day went. They do charge for every little thing so if you like this venue for all the beautiful photo ops, beware that to get to the venue beforehand and utilize the grounds for pictures they'll nickle and dime you. We got great discounts on stuff thrown in when we originally booked in 2019 but dealing with them once they reopened after covid they are much more sales focused. The cost on the exit station we wanted went up without them telling us, they didn't send us home with extra meals for the 3 people who had to cancel last minute and they changed the indoor ceremony option without notifiying us (which really upset me bc I didn't find out til our final meeting but luckily the weather wound up being perfect). They did mess up my ceremony so if you have your ceremony at the venue beware. I went over the details numerous times with Irene and Tara and yet they still managed to mess it up. At end of day I brushed it off since everything else was perfect but I am definitely annoyed at paying for my ceremony to be there when they really messed up the order and placement. My bridal attendant was great though, wish I remembered her name but such a sweetheart and was great with my bustle and always making sure I had a drink in hand. They set up all my decor exactly how I requested and were easy to communicate with during the past few months leading up to our day. The food at cocktail hour was decent, although the lamb was overcooked. Food at dinner was nearly awful. The potatoes were cooked perfectly, but everything else was downhill. Fiancée's tuna was waaaay overcooked, and my steak was an odd cut and unevenly cooked. The gateau and bonbons at the end were delish, but we only got one coffee service. I came for a late fall wedding. As soon as we entered, the lobby seemed quite small. There was no one at coat check, everyone had to hang their own jackets/coats. Coat attendants are included in the wedding packages! I could've gotten tips if I had stood there all night. I really didn't like the decor. Beautiful? no. It wasn't elegant or sophisticated, however, everyone's entitled to their own opinion. The buffet area was small and cramped. The room was so plain. Ugly tablecloth and wooden chairs. This is a wedding, not someone's basement. Oh I haven't even mentioned the food.. Basically everything is on the same floor. Past the lobby is the cocktail hour with the bar, right past the bar, is the dining area and next to that, separated with a sheet -- not even a curtain really - is the chapel. The food at cocktail hour was horrible, but not as bad as it was during dinner. There was one table laid out with a few tiny trays of supermarket-grade sushi/sushi rolls. It was gone in a matter of minutes. I don't eat at buffets, but there really wasn't enough food for everyone there. Seven tables of food for 200 guests? The appetizers -- aka. "Bruschetta" -- It's not just toasted, dried up bread with 1 or 2 diced tomatoes on it, which were all plated hours ahead. The mesclun, under the bread, was all limp and old For dinner, there was dry, overcooked chicken, either bland or salty beef; the salmon wasn't over-seasoned at least. The sides - overcooked string beans were abundant and untouched, the mashed potatoes was so salty. Also, the dishes and flatware were dirty. This wasn't my first time at a Long Island Catered wedding, this one doesn't come close to The Chateau. I guess the seller at this establishment, is the view of the water, but it was chilly outside, so no one even bothered to see it. Service was slow and non-existent. My husband and I got married at the Riviera on July 3, 2016. We did a lot of online research and thought the whole look of this place was great. We made an appointment to view it mid/late August 2015. When we arrived, the owner was in there sweeping and told us we could just walk around on our own before meeting with someone if we wanted a more relaxed viewing, which we really appreciated. The place is GORGEOUS. Vaulted ceilings, the whole back wall is windows looking out onto the water, exposed brick and beams, absolutely gorgeous. A friend of mine described it as a disney cottage and I was sold. The only weekend date they had available for summer 2016 was Sunday July 3, so we booked it. Everyone had off on the 4th, so we thought why not have a Sunday night? From booking, we had a tasting, and any e-mails or visits for payments were met with friendly faces and a pleasant experience. The day of the wedding we couldn't arrive until 5:45 because of a daytime wedding, and that honestly was my only upset with this place. I would have loved more time at the venue prior to the wedding to take photos, but we still got everything we wanted. On the day of the wedding, we arrived around 5:45, took some photos, and there was already food in the bridal suite waiting for us. Ceremony started around 6 and was outside. Beautiful setting. After that, cocktail hour was amazing! Mashed potato bar, the different stations, passed snacks. Then moving indoors for the reception. Our bridal attendant made sure my husband and I had a drink in hand at all times which was awesome. Everyone in attendance said the bartenders were great and so much fun! We've also been told it was one of the best weddings people have ever been to. From ambience to food to everything, it was perfect! They even gave my husband and I a plate of every dinner entree so we could try it all, and packed up whatever we couldn't eat so we had it for later or the next day. I HIGHLY recommend the Riviera. It actually breaks my heart to leave a bad review for Riviera because it really is a gorgeous place and was the venue my fiancé and I booked for our wedding, before canceling with them and booking with another venue. However, I feel like I'm left no choice because of how I have been avoided like the plague from every single person here. Last February, my fiancé and I booked our March 2018 wedding. At first they seemed super excited to work with us and lead us to believe nothing less. After we left our deposit, it all changed. Getting a response from them was literally like trying to get a call back from my deceased grandmother. It would be weeks before a response. We were also informed that, in the event that we didn't like the food after the tasting, we could get our money back. And it states that on our signed contract. Well, sadly, we were extremely underwhelmed by the food. The tasting in general was poorly executed. If you're spending thousands upon thousands of dollars to host the most important day of your life, you should not be subjected to sharing it with hundreds of other people and get served leftover cold food from the earlier tasting. I reached out to our salesperson and informed her that we were not happy and wanted to cancel our wedding. Not a response from her for 3 weeks. And when she actually responded, she said she would have to pass this on to her boss who would be in touch with me. No one got in touch with myself or my fiancé. I reached out to her again and she said she was sorry she would have someone call me back immediately and nothing. A month went by and I emailed her and called and she, again, said someone would contact me back. Not a single response. At this point I just wanted my money back. I called and called and called and emailed and no responses. I finally gave up in July. In September I get an e-mail from some new person saying this: "Good Afternoon Kristen, We have tried to contact you and Philip for some time now. Would you like to schedule an appointment to come in for your next payment for your wedding? If you have any questions please let us know. Thank you!" Are you actually joking me? First off, not a single person had tried to reach out to either of us. I can understand if I didn't get one phone call, but multiple phone calls? Not a chance. And neither did my fiance. And if that was the case, why couldn't an e-mail just be extended to me. Better yet, why couldn't you just respond to the umpteen other emails I've been sending that had gone unanswered? The woman's name I spoke to was Elena, I believe. She said she was sorry to hear about this and that the woman I was working it was no longer with them and then went on to bash her to me, which I found incredibly unprofessional. I asked her about getting my money back, that I was promised. She said to put it in an e-mail and someone would get in touch with me. I did just that and surprise, surprise not a single response. I was in the process of hiring a lawyer and realized that they obviously need the $2,000 more than I do if they're willing to risk their reputation rather than give it back to us. So I decided to let the public know how truly disastrous my experience with them has been. No respect for people who work hard for their money. I wish I could say my experience was better, but that isn't the case. I would NEVER recommend them to anyone and I will never attend any event here. read more

My son got married last week and I am still over the moon on how perfect everything went. I have to start with that I am a very critical person and the owners and staff at the Rivera have exceeded my exceptions that my son ,the groom ,is still in shock that I can not find a thing to complain about. Setting. Picturesque and Perfect!!!!! Although rain was expected the owners never lost faith that the kids could have their magical wedding outside. Our guests flew in from all over and terms like magical, romantic and elegant is a common theme with all the thank you calls I have received from our guests. The mansion is located on a private road and when you pull up it is like you booked a destination wedding . It is located on the Great South Bay and during the ceremony you can view beautiful boats in the background. The flowers on the grounds are magnificent. I had some guests who were concerned about the Delta Variant and they were able to spend most of the evening outside overlooking the peaceful south bay if they chose to do so. Everyone was made to feel special and heard and their concerns addressed. One event at a time so it is like having the mansion and grounds to yourself and your guests for the duration of your event. The Cocktail Hour. Everything you can imagine. We added the lamb chops, oyster and clam bar a lobster, crab legs and colossal shrimp station and a sushi station. Although ,we thought we had to add all this it was not necessary. I have never seen such a complete cocktail hour on the banks if the Great South Bay. Dinner. Choice of 4 entrees and they all came out hot and delicious. Viennese Room not Table. Everything you can imagine plus more. A ice cream station and a cannoli station as well. Staff and Service. I was very concerned with service quality since during the pandemic I know good servers were hard to come by. This was not the case. We had a wonderful experience at a wedding yesterday at the Riviera Waterfront Mansion in Massapequa. The garden ceremony was in a breathtaking setting on the waterfront, with the bride and groom under a canopy of pink and white roses. Then the guests were invited to a stellar cocktail hour on multi-level outdoor decks complete with a raw bar laden with shrimp, oysters, crab and lobster. If you wanted something other than shellfish, no problem--numerous pasta choices, carved meat, meatballs, eggplant rollatini, charcuterie, cheeses and so much more. Speedy bartenders helped us wash it all down with top-shelf libations like Ketel One and a wide variety of wine and beer selections too. We progressed to the indoor dining room for the dancing and dinner celebration to begin. My salmon entrée was perfectly cooked with an herb crust, very moist and flavorful. After dancing the night away, the dessert buffet was served featuring every kind of cake and pastry you could imagine, make your own sundaes and espresso drinks (spiked or not) to accompany them. The service staff was extremely pleasant, very polite and efficient...the facility--immaculately clean. I would return in a heartbeat as a guest or to plan an event for my own family. read more

This is where I had my reception. It was nothing but perfect. A quaint catering hall settled in a residential neighborhood that hosts one wedding at a time is hard to come by. It was the perfect spot for a fall wedding. Since it is on the Great South Bay, it is extremely quiet and "all about you." If your interested in having a large wedding, this would not be the spot for you. I believe the max guests allowed by code are around 160. The service and food was outstanding as well. The cocktail hour is not only the waitress service of hors de vors but also a full cooked buffet. Some of my guests actually thought the cocktail hour was the meal...and was ready to leave after!! The environment was perfect. Its was like having a huge house all to yourself. Being a quaint venue, helps with keeping your party and family together...without having stragglers in another room. We had our wedding at the Riviera Waterfront Mansion almost 2 weeks ago & it was FANTASTIC!!! First of all, originally, we had our wedding scheduled for last July but, due to the pandemic it was pushed to this year. The staff at the riviera were super accommodating, had sympathy for covid brides and were soooo sweet as we navigated through something so out of the ordinary! They answered every phone call and email with all of my silly questions (shoutout to Irene and Samantha for this one)! Our wedding was just picture perfect, it was something out of a movie! Every staff member was so helpful, they moved at lightening speed, they kept checking on me and my husband, and they were just simply fun to be around with!! The food was delicious, Samantha read through all of my crazy instructions to decorate the room and did a phenomenal job!!! (Thank you) Tara & Christina worked were our maitre'd and bridal attendant; we couldn't have asked for a better team!! I felt like a super star thanks to them! We had our wedding at the Riviera June of 2017. We were having a very small, 70 guest wedding and held our wedding on a Thursday night. In retrospect I think our choice in day of the week was what drove the nail in the coffin for our experience. Honestly the feel from the staff (Neil on our wedding day and Paul up until that day) that was that our wedding was an afterthought and they would prefer to be anywhere else. We were told countless times that no rehearsal would be needed and our Maitre'd would coordinate and organize our bridal party for our ceremony. The day of Neil, our Maitre'd, could not seem to get the party together on time (we started late) and the chaotic feeling ran through the entire ceremony and reception. Let me also make note that we had an extremely small bridal party (2 bridesmaids, 2 groomsmen, 1 flower girl and 1 ring bearer). In the bridal suite while getting ready I spoke to Neil about a memorial set for my husbands late father. We were to have his sport coat hung on the back of the first chair of the ceremony and to have a memorial boutonniere attached to the sport coat. Not only did Neil not bring down any of the florals for the men in the party he kept speaking to my husband about his late father as if he were still with us. He asked my husband and his best man several times as to the location of my husbands father and we all had to remind him several times that he was no longer with us and we simply wanted to memorialize him. This ended up being a horrible experience for my husband who already was missing his father on a very important day. We had booked a package including cake and florals (Tim's gets an A+!) and had traveled to the bakery in advance to arrange the details of our cake. Our cake ended up being a mess. The bottom tier was to read "Happily Ever After" but instead said "Happily Ever Also". My husband was the first to notice and alerted Neil to the issue. Rather than the Riviera contact their house baker they simply took a spatula and smeared out the "Also" making our cake look even worse. In advance of the wedding we had confirmed that a card box would be available for the wedding. The day of the wedding there was nothing - forcing my guests to hand us envelopes directly or pile them on a small barstool behind us. After our best man mentioned multiple times to Neil that we needed a card box we were supplied a tiny basket which could barely hold our envelopes. We ended up losing MULTIPLE gifts which we were told were placed in this basket. We had asked for any spare plates (we were 2 under our minimum) to be packaged with the intention of us sending them home for older guests unable to attend. We even reminded the Riviera about this as we ate our own meal and still somehow at the end of the night were told there were no meals packaged and it was too late for them to prepare them. Later in the evening the DJ announced the cake cutting and I shuffled over to our cake which was positioned so the smear would be front and center (thanks for that attention to detail Riviera!). I waited, alone and embarrassed, at the cake almost the duration of our cake cutting song for them to find my husband. You would have thought our Maitre'd would have collected both the bride and groom before alerting the DJ to announce the cake cutting... My father/daughter dance was immediately following the cake cutting and again, I stood there alone on the dance floor as the song started. My father ended up being in the restroom (which exits to the dance floor) and was met with an audience as he exited. Again, you would think that a Maitre'd would prepare the party before queuing the DJ to start music for something. Overall, I regret booking my wedding here. The venue's setting is beautiful and we were offered a wonderful package however these things don't make up for the fact that we felt second rate at our own wedding. The one star is strictly for our bartender (Patrick?) who kept up with our lively group and our bridal attendant who was extremely helpful throughout the day. I feel horrible not even being able to confirm their names- the Maitre'd's poor service overshadowed almost everything else. Also worth noting is that we still have yet to receive a refund for the one extra plate we paid for (we paid for 71, guaranteed 70 and only had 68 attend) that we were told would be refunded to us. read more

I just had my wedding here yesterday and everything was 100% perfect!! We are truly happy we chose this venue. My experiences leading up to the wedding were always pleasant. I looked forward to my meetings with Elena and Irene! They are so sweet and make you feel like part of the family. My maitre d was Meghan and she was on top of everything, always making sure I was doing okay and everything was explained to us in detail about what to do and when to do it! My bridal attendant was Danielle and she always made sure I had a drink in my hand and that I wasn't tripping on my dress lol. Both of them had the best personalities as well and I loved having them around! The water view is so beautiful. The food was delicious and so many of my guests commented on it throughout the day! The bartender was quick and made great drinks (I forget her name-must have had too many of those great drinks lol) Overall, I loved the Rivera and everything about it. This review is for an event back in January. My niece's first birthday party was here and I must say it was perfect, The service was great, as well as the waiter service. Everyone really enjoyed the passed apps and the food stations were great, always restocked. The view was beautiful and everything was run well. Living in Seaford for my whole life, I never noticed this place but very happy to have found it. read more

The Riviera was everything we hoped it would be. Our wedding was just a few days ago, on October 10th and the venue was great. Everyone raved about the food and how beautiful the place was. Our bridal attendant was on the spot; making sure the bridal dress was bustled, that we had drinks in our hands at all times and made us a wonderful platter of food. Yes, we actually got to eat at our own wedding! We can't thank the venue enough. We dealt with both Michelle and Brittany and both were very helpful in the months leading to our wedding. I really encourage anyone who is looking at the Riviera to give it a go. You hear about so many horror stories about people's weddings and horrible outcomes. My bride and I are ecstatic to say our wedding went as perfect as we could have hoped. read more

Im not too sure about the other 2 reviews, or if they are even real for that matter. I was married @ the Riviera on 9/28/2007. My wife and I looked at 20+ Catering places before choosing the Riv, we only had a few demands. 1) Only one wedding at a time! 2) Must be on the water, ocean, lake, bay, river etc! 3) Must be flexible! The Riv. met all of our needs and then some! We met with Vicki (AMAZING) and one of the owners several times before we chose to book with them. They offered to do just about anything we asked for, including special items on the menu, changing their furniture layout, extending the cocktail hour, and never once even hinted that we were asking too much. We have been to many weddings and knew that the big problem is always a lack of servers and a line at the bar. We asked the Riv to have an extra bartender, and extra wait staff (at our expense) and the did! The CT Hour and a half was amazing, 4 years later people are still raving about the lobster bar, and the quantity of food that the Riv. put out. (Again folks this is your wedding, don't cheap out and then whine about it later) There was never a wait at the bar and there was never an empty glass. The dinner service was flawless, and the food all came out at once. (again pay a little extra and you will have a much better time) The quality of the food was at least as good and in my opinion better than any of the Lessing's or Scotto places. (we have been to them all) People asked for seconds and were given anything that they asked for. When it was time for dessert we again put the staff at the Riv. to the test. Not only did we have our 4 tier wedding cake, we also ordered a full venetian hour, as well as having 120 two tier personal wedding cakes delivered. The staff excelled at getting the dessert set up quickly and quietly, there was plenty of coffee for our guests, and the cakes were put out in a very timely fashion. When the evening was over the staff helped our guests box up desserts to take home, and never once tried to hurry our guests. Clean up went flawlessly and when we returned from 2 weeks of honeymoon we stopped by the Riv. and they had our items packed up and waiting for us........ We loved the Riv. so much we will be having our 10 year Anniversary party there!!! The moral of the story, "Its your wedding folks, you may never get to do this again, so pay a few extra bucks and get it done right!!!" read more
