We arrived around 8 pm Sunday (7/2023) and most places in the area were already closed. Found this place on Google map with 4.2 stars. We (6 of us) walked in without reservation. The waitress advised us that the kitchen closes at 9 pm, but we can stay until 10 pm. Their menu is a book, which is very rare after COVID. There are Norwegian specialties and many Italian dishes. We got the Norwegian mussels and fries, Norwegian fish soup, Penne Al Manzo, Spaghetti Marinara, Pappardelle Al Pollo, and Risotto.
The Norwegian dishes were SO good! The mussels were in tomato based sauce with a great balance of saltiness/sweetness/sourness, unlike Belgium (light butter wine) and Italian (white wine or marinara). The mussels are the larger version and plump. The fries are THE BEST I have had (but I didn't take picture of it).
The fish stew is creamy but not milky or heavy. It has ample pieces of catch of the day that is cooked perfectly to the right texture and you can taste the "fresh" in the fish.
The risotto is "the best I have had" per my 15-yo who has some sophisticated pallets.
All pasta except spaghetti is from Italian. All three that we got had chili flakes, so there's a kick.
The lady who served us and the owner who took our orders were both friendly and attentive. So service was an A.
We would come back for the two Norwegian dishes alone, and my 15-yo said, there are many other dishes we haven't tried. read more
