When you drive up, all you notice is overgrowth and weeds in every green space. Despicable! If the appearance doesn't bother you the registration process certainly will. I came in due to a workman's comp injury I sustained while working at Steward Jordan Valley West. I asked the registration clerk if they have access to those records they used to be Steward. She abruptly interrupted me and said that they were bought out and that Centura/Trinity does not have access. I replied that I have the information and will provide it. Just to understand and confirm what I heard her say, I asked differently about the records by saying, "....just to confirm, you're saying you don't have access?" The receptionist cut me off stating, ".....I TOLD YOU we don't have access!" Needless to say, I was taken aback. I asked her if she was having a bad day. She replied "Why!?" I said you're being quite abrupt. She replied, "Are you calling me a brat?" I said, "no, I'm saying you're being abrupt." She attempted to explain and I replied, "....it's not necessary." These two "first impressions" reflect the dismal experience I received and seem to indicate the level of professionalism and treatment the new ownership has and delivers. I am a firm believer in Attitude reflects Leadership. It is extremely sad to see that our community has to rely and reside next to and on a provider that should exemplify the essence of community and empathy when individuals who are dealing with emergencies or critical illness require medical attention and CARE! Drive in and see a run down, weed infested property and then get insulted by, "I TOLD YOU.....!" How dare you and shame on you're evident lack of respect to our community.

The only reason I even bothered going in is because no clinics in my area are accepting new patients but one, and that one didn't have appointments open until March, but I have had a cold in the middle of influenza outbreak and have had it for a MONTH and I walk out of the clinic with absolutely no prescription and advice to take ibuprofen and use heating pad for the dislocated disc in my back that I have from coughing. This review only has the stars for the fact that most of the staff is incredibly friendly(particularly the nurses), and lines move quickly and reception is helpful and efficient, but the treatment at this facility is unreasonable. I don't care if if it "could just be a virus" if a patient comes in saying they've been sick for a month you send them out with some antibiotics. It is like pulling teeth to get antibiotics from this place, they don't prescribe narcotics at this place but something tells me if they did it would be easier to get them than antibiotics; which is just wrong.

There is a separate open section area for people to wait that are actually sick. You do have to walk past this open air area to get to the area where the exam rooms are. There is a pharmacy onsite if you need to get a prescription filled. Staff was pretty friendly, and helpful upon initial intake. The Dr however didn't have the best bedside manner, and was hard to understand. Communication for this Dr (through their website) was not very good. The Dr answered my questions with short answers, and left me asking more questions, which didn't get answered to my satisfaction. They told me to call to get my test results, and when I did, the person who finally answered the phone said they weren't authorized to give the results to me, and would have someone call me back. Which they NEVER did. Any communication after that was done through their portal, which is lacking in personal touch, and is hard to have a communication other than short emailed answers. However, maybe a different Dr would have a different communication style. I didn't particularly like having tests done, and then sending me one my way without a personal follow up besides reading the test results through their portal, which I have to say was Chinese to me, since I didn't go to school to figure out how to read medical terminology. I'm hoping I'm ok, and I didn't fall through the cracks. I'm hoping that nothing is life threatening since I didn't get any notification to make a follow up appt, or to have more tests done!

This experience happened over a month ago and I have reflected and still felt the need to post :…read more My mother, who has stage 4 cancer, was admitted to Alta View after we left another emergency department due to excessive wait times. The initial intake experience at Alta View was positive -- the staff member who checked us in was kind, efficient, and compassionate. Unfortunately, the level of care declined significantly after admission. While my mother was not physically harmed, there were repeated instances where she was made to feel like a burden rather than a patient deserving dignity and support. During the day, family members were present to advocate for her. At night, when we relied on staff, her emotional and basic care needs were often overlooked. To be fair, there were some nurses who provided excellent care, which suggests this is not an issue of individual staff capability, but rather a systemic problem related to management, communication, and hospital policies. A particularly concerning experience involved the attending physician, whose bedside manner was lacking and, at times, inappropriate. He attributed my mother's denial for transfer to a nursing facility to her refusal of two therapy sessions during a two-week stay. This explanation failed to consider the context: she had acute gastrointestinal symptoms and had often just completed one therapy session when another provider arrived, indicating poor coordination between care teams. We also requested emotional support resources for my mother, who lost her husband less than a year ago and is coping with advanced cancer. The response was limited to a paper being dropped off in her room, with no meaningful follow-up or connection to services. Obtaining assistance with Medicaid application required repeated requests. It was only after I personally escalated the issue to a charge nurse -- who then persistently followed up -- that any action was taken. Operational issues also impacted care. The cafeteria closes at 8 PM, leaving patients who miss ordering time with limited and unsuitable food options, particularly problematic for those with nausea or digestive conditions. The discharge process was confusing and poorly communicated. We were initially told to prepare to leave without adequate planning for a safe placement. It was only after I questioned whether discharge could be enforced that we learned we could remain until appropriate arrangements were made. Discharge paperwork was delivered without discussion, and we had to proactively confirm whether it was safe to leave. Finally, during discharge transport, it was discovered that my mother's port had not been de-accessed. This resulted in a prolonged and distressing situation where staff appeared uncertain about proper procedure, causing unnecessary discomfort. This experience took place during an already extremely difficult period for our family. Hospitals play a critical role not only in clinical treatment but in preserving patient dignity, especially for those facing life-limiting illness. While there were individual staff members who showed genuine care, the overall experience reflected significant breakdowns in communication, coordination, and patient-centered support. I am sharing this in hopes that leadership will address these systemic issues so that other families navigating serious illness are not left feeling they must constantly advocate for basic standards of care.
