HORRENDOUS EXPERIENCE. If you want to be put on the back burner and completely forgotten about for 7.5 hours in a 4x6 room, come to Intermountain Health Care Riverton/Herriman Emergency Room. They will have to surgically remove the chair from my ass for how long i've been sitting here doing absolutely nothing, hearing absolutely nothing from anyone. You'd think they have only have 1 ultrasound machine in the entire state of Utah with how long this place takes for such a simple test. I'm beyond upset, infuriated to put it plainly. This was the worst show of professional medical care I've ever seen in my life. Terrible hospital. Forgetful healthcare workers. The only positive side is it's clean, as should EVERY hospital be. 7.5 hours later, my wife is still in pain, i'm fighting sleep from the chair, and we are not one inch closer to getting the hell out of this place. read more

Absolutely disappointed and disgusted with this e.r. yet again. Went in with troubling symptoms and was really suffering . Some labs and scans were taken but in the end I was told " im fine" and sent home. I can see my lab and scan results on my portal. I had 5 abnormal results. None of these brought up, mentioned anything. Then I see my primary care about it and it was obvious it was a medical emergency. And yet at emergency medicine they blew me off and couldn't have cared less. If a primary care doctor can out results together that could cause a problem and am emergency doctor cant that is terrifying. I grew up in California and Intermountain is basically the "Kaiser" of Utah, and I have not really experienced being in a hospital here in Utah since we moved last year until last friday. All I can say is wow. This place gets a 5 star. My wife was experiencing excessive bleeding internally, and so we went to Urgent Care and the OB saw my wife and immediately referred her to go to the ER here, in which that same OB will be surgically treating her. As soon as we arrived at the ER, we checked in with the receptionist and not even a few minutes later, they had called her in already. My wife's condition was life threatening actually, in which I was amazed at the amount of nurses tending to her care. There was actually 4 nurses at the same time, all doing different things to her. The same OB had then arrived at the hospital and performed the surgery on my wife. We were in n out within 6 hours. This review is for the Emergency Room, all I can say is how I'm amazed at the service they have here. Not only that, this hospital is the cleanest and nicest looking hospital I've ever been to. read more

We arrived at emergency room at 9:30pm on a weeknight. We were checked in within minutes and showed to a nearby room. But it took FOREVER to see a nurse or doctor and get treatment. I thought I might die of waiting... Thankfully I was fine, it was my wife who needed to be at the ER because of an accidental fall. There was SO MUCH waiting... We waited to see a nurse. We waited to have her treated. Then waited to see a doctor. Then another doctor. Then another nurse. Then we waited longer to get a CT scan. Then we waited again to talk to the doctor and get the results. Then we waited to get discharged and to leave... After arriving at 9:30pm, we were at the hospital until 1:30am and it was absolutely exhausting! The staff was friendly and professional throughout and did their best to make us comfortable. I really appreciated their help and thoughtfulness. But why should a routine visit to the ER, a bump to the head and a potential concussion take so long? I don't understand why it took 4 hours... Maybe that's why medical care in the United States is so expensive...? read more

A very rude old lady nurse I'm assuming... made us leave the waiting room and move to a different t part of the hospital because she said people were sleeping near there. where they put the waiting room!! My labor and delivery experience was great, but if you value your recovery care and the care of your baby in the NICU DO NOT GO HERE. i hated most of my daughter's nurses, we only had 3 or four that we liked in the 10 days that she was there. they forced her to use the Dr. Brown bottles even tho she has an upper lip tie that they btw MISSED. even after I had asked if she had one and watched them check her. i later checked her myself when we got home, and we are working towards getting it corrected. they wouldn't let me bring in the bottles we would be using at home, or any binkies because "she is doing fine on these" even tho she chokes on the Dr. Browns bottles because the nipple is too long. if I have another child I will not be going anywhere near that hospital. the nurses couldnt have cared less about my mental health. i wish i had just gone to imc. read more

I took my husband to the Riverton ER on Monday, Jan. 9th, for a problem he was having with his eye. Our eye doctor wasn't in and his office said to go to the ER because they have an ophthalmologist on call. We only waited about 10 minutes to be seen, which was great, and the nurses and Dr. Black were wonderful! Dr. Black diagnosed his problem as a corneal tear, got a sample of the medicine and gave us a prescription for more, and we were in and out in about an hour. I took my husband to our eye doctor a few days later and the tear was completely healed. We were very impressed by the Riverton ER!!! read more

Usually, I never have a bad experience with IHC. However, it seems this time I had some encounters that were less than pleasant. My dad had knee replacement surgery. All was well in pre-op. Everyone was kind and we got things moving quickly. We put his belongings in a bad and the nurse put them in the locker. After he was done, he spent about 2 hours in post-op before coming to his patient room. When he did arrive in his room, I noticed his belongings bag did not come with him. I asked the nurse if they could go back and get it, (we needed his phone). After they got him settled in the room, we asked again if the belongings were coming. They said they will call pre-op again. About an hour later, still nothing. I finally went to the post-op nursing station and asked him to call them again. He did and nobody answered. So, I had to walk down there on my own, go to the lockers and request someone to get my dad's things. This was annoying. read more

Disgusting place. They do not take women in pain seriously. My roommate has a gastrointestinal issue that has been diagnosed- and everytime she comes to this place they treat her like a drug addict and push off and neglect her care. Midday on a Tuesday - no other patients around - and we've asked 3 times now just for a blanket for my aggressively vommitting friend - nothing. She's gone 35 min without any treatment - other than being told she shouldn't smoke weed and that's what caused this. Keep in mind she has been struggling with this condition since age 13, long before she ever smoked. My roommate smokes because it's a better alternative to opioids and is one of the few things that helps her nausea. I have similar issues with my stomach - and have never been treated this way by St Marks. Really hope this hospital gets it together because they're going to have lawsuits on their hands. read more

The ER wait time was fast and the nurses and doctors were very helpful. Some of the nurses in the ER were Kevin and Spencer. Spencer was so personable and made me feel comfortable! Julie was a nurse in the OR and she was able to get my IV in on the first try, which never happens! She's got skills! I would totally recommend going to this hospital. read more

I had injured my foot and went to RH emergency on a Saturday night about 2 a.m. to my surprise it was empty no patiants made my way to check in and the girl behind the counter got me checked in and next the nurse come and took me back to a room she was'nt to friendly no big deal but the second nurse come in to get my vitals was a down right beast very blunt and put out that we where there for my Foot injury. No big deal right. Well next the dick of a doctor come in and started to ask questions I explained to him that I had injured my foot and was in alot of pain He took my shoe and sock off and done a quick inspection he was very rough with his 30 second exam and was very put out we where there he proceeded to tell us that he wasn't a foot doctor and didn't know anything about them that wasn't his specialty that he was an er doctor and got up walked out at that point I had already made up my mind that we where leaving I didn't want to deal with him anymore he was'nt foot doctor and was put out that we had come in I went to a podiatrist today my foot is broken And will need surgery. no help from RHE there patient care services are the worst. I can't express how terrible this hospital is including their emergency room and billing staff. Had the worst experience of my life in their emergency room; the Dr didn't listen to anything I had to say and dismissed me without any resolution or exit plan. Their billing staff is THE WORST I have ever dealt with in my life. I ended up paying $150 that I didn't owe just because they said I hadn't paid it. Will NEVER go to this hospital again. when you complain they tell you to reach out and when you reach out they tell you that because you're still alive they treated you and give you $300 toward you crippling out of pocket costs. You're better off using webMD if you're having stroke or blood clot in your brain symptoms than coming here. My issue isn't with the hospital; it is with the deplorable reception desk of the Emergency Department. I was sent to this ED in extreme leg pain due to DVT for an ultrasound. The women behind the reception desk were infuriating. Not only were they chomping on gum with their mouths open, but they also needed to finish their conversation about their eyelash extensions and their nail art before they would help me and get me checked in. As a former MA in a physician's office, I find this wholly unprofessional, incompetent, and sloppy! A hospital may be top-notch, but reception staff that behaves in this manner is a hindrance to excellence. If they want to sit around chomping gum, talking about fake eyelashes and nail art because that is more important to them than patients who need medical attention, then they need to seek employment at a beauty salon. The emergency department of a hospital is an inappropriate place for this level of incompetence, sloppiness, and behavior. read more

What is going on with the landscaping? What was once a proud part of Riverton is now an eyesore. In April, there was a news story about how you changed your landscape practices to save millions of gallons of water, but now, we see you watering dead grass and weeds throughout the day. Went in the ER with shortness of breath, palpitations.l, dizziness. Stood in a line of 5 people just to register. One girl working alone at the registration desk. Never looked up and seemed to be having trouble registering just one person. ....there was some poor kid yelling he can't breath and everyone ignored him. Didn't see a single staff, doctor or nurse, anywhere. No accident triage which ive never experienced anywhere. After 15 minutes of this I left. Still 5 people in line. I couldn't believe it. My daughter was born in this hospital. She was taken care of and some nurses shower her and some don't, but they will do it if you constantly ask them to do so. They were helpful when there are informations we needed to know. I gave 4 star because they tested my wife for Covid19, but they never got back to us concerning that and we wanted to know what the results were. Till this day, we still don't know what my wife's results are. The nurses were nice, but it does take a long time staying in the hospital. They gave us every excuse to keep our daughter in there or they will not release her until they finish their two week testing after she had been in the hospital more than a week. So 3 weeks and a half in hospital, but she was good for two weeks straight. Something tells me they needed to squeeze more money out of us before releasing my daughter, but hey. Everything is stressful as it is. All in all, they did grate, but I still think there is plenty of room for improvement. Not sure if they will improve their ability to be straightforward with their customers and be straight forward with answering the questions without sugar coating it or sway away from the questions and give an answer for a question that was never asked. My wife did tell me that some nurses never sanitize the pacifier they use to put in my baby daughter's mouth. They gotta work on that, because the hospitals carries more bacteria in the building than in a home. Hope they work on that. Maybe more training is needed? read more

This review is of same-day surgery. I'm giving two stars instead of one because the last two times I went there they did a great job. After this last experience I will not be going back to that facility. I have a daughter with medically related PTSD. She used to have horrible rage black outs. They were terrifying to her sisters, I got hurt trying to restrain and Im trained, and she could dismantle my home in moments. We have a system down now with her procedures/surgeries and in following the system we have been able to avoid rage blackouts for this last year. It goes like this, she gets sedated in the pre-op room before ever going back to the OR room where I help get her mask on and once she's under I leave and they can do whatever they need to do. They usually bring me back to recovery pretty quickly because she screams until I'm there. When she hears my voice and I start to sing she calms down. Well my last trip to same-day surgery at Riverton Hospital first of all nobody had been prepared on her team for her PTSD, let alone that she is on the Autism spectrum and developmentally delayed. Her nurse did not know about it, the anesthesiologist had not been told about it, no one. The ball got dropped! Then the anesthesiologist, Dr. XXXXXXXX XXXXXXX, whom we have never had before (Doctor Macevik is THE BEST Anesthesiologist!) in order to try to stay on there surgery scheduled was pushing her to go back unsedated (and would not allow me to walk past OR doors in the hallway let alone get her mask on). When I tried to pipe in about her PTSD and how we have been doing things he told me he was talking to her not to me. He kept telling her "let's just press forward" and get her back to the OR room and would not let me get a word in edgewise. I had to put my foot down and ask to go into the hall with him where I told him she was not going anywhere without sedation. He kept trying to tell me he had a disabled son so he "knew". When I told him to take her off the schedule and we would come back when we could have Doctor Macevik as our anesthesiologist (Doctor Macevik is THE BEST Anesthesiologist!) he finally said he would get her sedation but it was gonna take time. I told him I didn't care how much time it took, it was not my fault he didn't know until "30 minutes prior", I had asked to speak to him an hour ago and she was not going back until I knew she was ready. He finally got her sedation and then he started pushing to get her back before it even kicked in. He tried to tell me that it was working even if I couldn't tell it was. I've have never tried to keep track of the number of procedures my daughter has had... But in the last 12 months alone there's been six. So trust me I know when it's working. I reached out to XXXXXX, the OR manager where instead of help I was told they were behind schedule and needed to get her back there. I told her I thought it best to take my daughter off the schedule, I would just take her home. However when I reentered my daughters room the sedation had kicked in, yep only 5 more minutes was all she needed, and the child life specialist, Kris (who was awesome), had gotten permission to go back into the OR room with her so I allowed the procedure to move forward. What I learned my last trip there: THERE SCHEDULE AND PROCEDURES COMES BEFORE THE NEEDS OF MY CHILD. I will not be returning to same-day surgery at Riverton Hospital. read more

Tonight my three year old daughter bumped the back of her head and needed a couple of staples. My husband ran her to the ER (too late for insta care.) They weren't busy and got her right back. That's where anything good ends. They then waited for 40 minutes while someone went to get the numbing cream. The cream was supposed to sit for 20 more minutes, so my husband opted out in an attend to get her stitched and home to bed. The physician shot two staples part way in saying she disliked this type of staple gun, then roughly removed them from the fresh wound. She had to reshoot the stitches with a second type of gun and did so quite crooked and with large chunks of hair in the wound. It's frustrating as a parent to take a child in and feel like your at home "triage" care is higher quality than an expensive ER trip. read more

RIVERTON, UT: A few choice experiences: 1. They took my daughters blood for a test, stuck her multiple times before getting the vein, then they lost her sample, and charged us anyways. I fought them for about a year before they dropped the bill. 2. I needed a blood draw and they got me in, stuck me with a needle, took my blood, got me out, couldn't tell me a price, sent me a $500 bill in the mail. It's the American way. BUT-they did it quickly. 3. They kept my wife waiting three hours for a surgery to begin. A bit nerve-wracking. No apologies from the doctor or staff for the gross oversight. read more

The hospital is very clean and for the most part very quiet. I love the fact that it is also very new. I went here for surgery and it was the quickest recovery I've ever had. Some of the nurses are kind of loud though, so watch out - they'll talk your ears off and you can't run away because you're stuck in bed! Not always sure about the ER though...some of the staff is great and totally knows what they're doing and the rest doesn't seem to care. It's hit or miss. Overall, I think this is a great hospital to go to. read more

Update: Monday brought a totally different experience in the surgery recovery ward. Top notch responsiveness and care today! Fantastic weekday staff. This is a very nice facility and our loved one is receiving good care but I have to say that they cannot process even then simplest of requests right. At a time when people are the most concerned that the person they love may not recover or that it's the beginning of a long road to recovery a professional care staff should be able to get something as simple as a meal request right. Day 3 and they've yet to process a request correctly. Seems the nursing staff has lost the ability to communicate with the patient. read more

Being responsible for getting my granddaughters eye surgery I was extremely concerned when she awoke and could not see to read or do her normal activities. Having taken care of her exclusively for 3 years and done her postop care and visits I needed to talk to her pediatric ophthalmologist, but had also turned her care over to my daughter who had withing the week gotten legal guardianship. Upon arriving at the clinic appointment I ask to have 2 caretakers go to my 9 year old granddaughters doctors visit, explaining all of the above And when told No, I then ask the woman in charge to call her supervisor and ask for permission. So she called someone on the phone and since I was standing right there I heard her say. "there is a woman here who wants a patient to have 2 visitors go to an doctors appointment" She hung up the phone and told me that they said NO. I ask the woman why did you call me a visitor? and not explain the situation, she just said "no exceptions". I told her that I expected that they would care more about the best interest of the patient and that she grossly neglected to explain the situation on the phone. I was crying and felt so helpless, so angry, that I told the woman I hated her for being so deceitful. And then left and went outside away from that place. Having come with my daughter and her car was locked I sat on a cold metal bench in the cold morning air with a light sweater. So I called and talked with the doctors office, upstairs and the ancillary, staff gave me the same regard as those in the downstairs lobby. But while I was talking with them, a security officer came and started pacing back and forth in front of me alternately standing by a tree. So I decided to call IHC administrative staff at their headquarters and after explaining several more times and passed in circles, while the security officer listened to my conversation, got nowhere. I decided to hang up and face the security guard. He came over and ask if he could help me.Ha ha I said I doubt it. We went on to have a real nice conversation, he said he could understand my frustration and we talked until my family came. The security guard was the only understanding caring human I came in contact with that day during my many conversation with IHC personal. I sat outside in the cold 1 1/2 hours as they did a full exam on my granddaughter. read more

My 3 month old got RSV and we had to be admitted. They took excellent care of us. She did really well and they were helpful and attentive. We were only there over night but I'd really recommend them. Their children's area is highly secured. The view is breathtaking (if you face east). The kids waiting area has cute statues. They kept complimenting on how cute my daughter is (if that doesn't win you over I don't know what does). They also took my concerns seriously. and tried to make me very comfortable. My mom was taken to the ER for dizziness, nausea, and cold sweats. She could not get up to walk. They were so worried about COVID that when all her tests came back normal the doctor confirmed it had to be COVID and they were done and she needed to go home until test came back. She called me to tell me this and to pick her up. I told her that her test had come in and it was negative. Why the doctor didn't look into that before releasing her I don't know....... when I drove up to the front to pick her up. They had to wheel her out. She was so white and still looked like death. They put her in my car and sent her on her way not able to walk still and sick to her stomach....... I almost couldn't get her into the house. I am upset that they would push her out the door like this. I understand we are in a pandemic, but others need help not just COVID patients. Doctor was so scared of her she said, because he was worried about her having COVID. They told her to make a follow up appointment. So she did. We explained she had a COVID test. They made the appointment. We show up and they tried to say they weren't going to see her because of her having a COVID test. I told them it was negative. They didn't care. I told them this was a joke and we weren't leaving. The doctor decided to see us. She would not let me speak I tried to tell her how they treated my mom. She didn't care and sided with her staff. She was rude and unprofessional! I also recorded when we were leaving and caught her nurse talking crap! The Dr. is Srinivasan and the nurse is Ashley! Horrible rude not caring people! I've put in a complaint with the complaint department. They were also confused by the behavior of the staff and working on our case..... read more
