#72 for 2021 This…read morewas our 1st night going out to eat of many. My cousin brought me here because she thought it would be cool thing to see. First of all this place is huge with several dining areas. They can accommodate several events or parties ranging from 40 to 300. Up to 1400 in their hotel facility. It is a brewery stoked well with their own. There's 6 of them plus other a few others from around the world.. They may have more now. When you walk there is a wall of kegs you can take selfies at. We did. It's a bit confusing once you get past that trying to figure out where you order or where you sit. The way it works you walk around looking at the different menus and offerings. There's lots to walk around too. I did it twice before deciding killing about 30minutes. Some stations were for specific items. Like one for the beer on tap. Another for desserts. I decided to go big and ordered the T-bone. It was a good size steak complemented with a only a baked potato. Over all presentation sure left something to be desired.  You could order some sides like a salad or something but I decided to pass to make sure I had room to finish. This was cooked to perfection. Juicy and seasoned. I wish I had some rice to soak up the juices off the plate. My wife had the regular burger.  And it was the same for her. We also tried the fish and chips my cousin ordered to share with her husband. Nothing wow there but it was delicious. The area we were in is called the Bistro. It is the main hub where most people will be. We found a table for 4 of us but no chairs. We waited for the buzzer to go off longer than expected but happy when we it did lite up. The Sports Lounge has one huge hi-def LED screen surrounded by several smaller screens. What ever is happening in the sports world you can catch it all here. Wasn't too noisy when I was checking it out but I could see this getting loud. Be sure to check out these other areas too. Kids are welcome in Playland where you will want to bring them. Run around all they want burning off  energy. It does get loud in there. The Sky Lounge has its own bar overlooking the Sports Bar. Great for meetings. If you want high ceilings with an indoor garden that basques in the glow of natural light that will be the Atrium. This would be good for baby showers and small events with a more personal nature. During happy hour it's $5.00 for the taps and wines. Mon to Fri 11am - 3pm take advantage of the $15.00 lunch specials that include their Core Range brews. I think this is a great place to visit having lots to offer. Australian Brewery can be the spot for many events with good food creating those special moments. We sure had one.

Two separate counters for food order and drinks. Get queue for food order then get in queue for drinks order and mind you your waiting time in queue can be significant because it doesn't move fast. At the order counter they ask you for table no, and if you are alone then you probably point to the direction where a table is free, but by the time you are done queueing for food and drinks that table probably will be taken

The aircon worked and the lemon lime and bitters was prepared in a wierd way but was still good. BUT, on the ground floor there are only three low tables but plenty of bar tables. I am not athletic enough for a bar chair so it too a couple of goes before I mounted it. Plenty of TVs show the racing if you have a bet. Only sport was the replay of the NRL. There are no visible machines so I think you could bring in kids but I wouldn't as the locals who inhabit the bar are loud and the vocab leaves a lot to be desired.

Its a basic bar with a big pokies area at the back, nightclub upstairs, and dining area at the front with bi fold windows opening out onto Church Street. The lunch special is really what draws me in veery time. For $12 you can get a range of meals with a beer - that's pretty good value even among all the Church St restaurants competing for the lunch crowds attention. I usually grab the steak and blue cheese sauce with salad and chips. Its a decent size meal and the blue cheese sauce is amazing. Just a hint though - order your steak a bit more cooked what what you would usually order. I like rare to medium so I order medium. They tend to under cook them a bit. The only downside is that you can't swap the beer for another drink and a glass of coke is about $4 so you may as well enjoy the beer! But that aside its a great lunch spot and for $12 for a meal and a beer you can't go wrong!

This is a tough one to review, since I have been coming here my entire adult life…read more It's been renovated a number of times now, and what I like about the RSL is that they've invested heavily back into the club to create a really great space for the members. The latest renovations include a classy lounge bar accessed by an escalator. What I really like about the place is that domestic beer is as cheap as you will find anywhere. What I don't like about the place is that it seems like they've lost the youth. It has turned a bit into an old people's club. Whereas in my youth, the place was packed with people my age, these days it seems that they really cater to more of the senior end of the market, and this will be reflected in music choices, and other entertainment offerings. Unfortunately this means that on many of the days there is little-to-no atmosphere. You are really just coming for the cheap drink. In terms of RSLs, Hornsby is quite big. It looks big from the outside, but once you get inside it's really all the different sections that make it seem gigantic. I'll take you on a virtual tour of the club so you can get a feel for what's inside. The foyer is a large open space with a fountain and the front desk to sign in. Directly ahead and up the stairs is a cafe that does simple food, coffee, and desserts. Swinging to the left is a front bar with a number of smaller televisions and loads of seating areas. This is also where trivia, live music and meat raffles happen. Directly opposite the bar is an outdoor section for smokers. Moving past the bar there is a tiny kitchenette-sized TAB section, which leads into the large poker machine area. The pokie area is massive and also has an outdoor pokie section for smokers. Once you walk through, past the cashiers, you are in the bistro. Food is your pretty standard RSL bistro fare, nothing flash here. There is also another outdoor section. On the reverse wall of the bistro are big screen TVs where things like world cup soccer games pull a big crowd. Adjacent to the bistro is the auditorium which is where larger events happen (two-up is held in here every year). Concerts are also prevalent. Between the bistro and the auditorium is a stairwell that leads downstairs to the back foyer. The other entry to the downstairs area is at the front foyer. Instead of going up to the front bar, take the stairs down into the sports bar/lounge. This area is two-tiered. There is a lower floor which has professional-sized snooker tables, and requires etiquette. Also on the lower floor is ping-pong table room, also professional. On the main floor is a pub-style pool table, fully stocked bar, and a lounge area with a number of televisions for more of a laid back viewing experience. Down here there is also darts and bowling available. Moving past the sports lounge there is a larger TAB area, whose doors open up to the back foyer and the bottle shop. Moving back to the main front foyer there is also an escalator, once you head through the cafe, that will take you upstairs to the Level One Lounge. This is a newer space, post-renovations, that offers more of an outdoor cocktail lounge feel. Think Bungalow 8, with loungey chairs, trees, and funky design. The drinks here are more expensive, and its usually a place for bdays and other functions. Speaking of functions there is also a function room on this floor with an indoor/outdoor section. As you climb off the elevator on this level there is digital roulette directly through the first auto-sliding door and more poker machines in a specialist outdoor smoking area, also accessed by a sliding door (requires a button push). I'd be inclined to bump this to 4-stars if there was more of an atmosphere at the club. Obviously on days like Australia day or specialist sporting events, there is usually a crowd, but otherwise it can be pretty quiet.
