I briefly brought my daughter to this practice, looking for a good fit doctor, someone who was good with children and also helpful with any questions we had. We were assigned two doctors, who both practice part time, Dr. Wylie and Dr. Boudinot. The doctor we would see for a given appointment was based on which doctor was working that day. I wasn't super excited about that from the beginning as my daughter gets nervous about the doctor, and having a different person each visit was not ideal for her comfort level. We stayed with this practice for about a year, and saw the two doctors a couple times each.
One doctor was friendly enough, but when we went in for a Fall check-up, my daughter happened to have a mild cough, and the doctor said she was going to write her a prescription for an antibiotic "just to kick off the season." What?? It's not a flippin' spa treatment. I don't feed my kid antibiotics just for fun, thanks.
In the same appointment, I was also given grief for raising my daughter in a vegetarian household, which also deterred us from staying with this doctor. There are plenty of doctors who fully endorse a vegetarian diet, and I would much rather interact with a medical professional who doesn't judge our choices, especially without even asking any questions about what she eats and just making assumptions.
The other doctor was much worse. During our first sick visit, we were given a lecture, discrediting our concern for our daughter, saying "just because she has a runny nose doesn't mean you need to bring her in every time," or something along those lines. She acted like we were wasting her time. She was talking down to us and treating us like we were ignorant and overly protective. Well we requested a strep test, which she reluctantly performed, and it came back positive (shocker!), she was a little nicer at the end of that appointment, but not by much.
The next time we saw her was for another sick visit, and her body language and attitude indicated she was annoyed. I expressed concerns for my sick daughter, while she stared at her computer screen, clearly working on something else, only half listening. When she responded to my questions, she followed each statement with a condescending, "Do you understand?" That was the only time she looked at me when speaking to me. The kicker was when I had finished asking questions, she resumed typing on her computer, then there was a moment of silence, during which I thought she was looking something up for us, but she abruptly said "You're done. Bye." and went back to typing. I apologized as we gathered our things and awkwardly left the room. I left feeling like she hated me and hated my daughter for no reason, it was just blatant rudeness. Maybe if you hate parents and children you should have chosen a different career, just sayin'. The next day I started looking for a new doctor.
