They sent a blank prescription to the hospital so I never did have the test I needed. They even sent the cologard test kit to my p.o. box instead of a physical address as I requested. I came here because I had Covid symptoms. Lo and behold, I received a positive result. The nurse asked me if I was vaccinated, to which I am not. I choose not to be. The treatment towards me entirely changed. Not only was I asked to leave, but the doctor will contact me while I'm in the car. They also kicked my father out from the waiting room because he was with me. I received a little bit of attitude and was scolded on why I should be. Personal choice people!! This is not New York or California! The doctor did not prescribe anything. They just told me to go home and drink lots of fluids. Whereas my friend went to the other Riverside in Hoboken. He was given Azithromycin tablets and albuterol sulfate. Inhalation aerosol. He recovered quite well a few days later. I had to be on my own. I found monoclonal antibody treatment in Bloomfield, New Jersey. That helped with my symptoms. Following my positive result, I sent my 8yr old som for a PCR test. They lost the result! I called in 2 days later and they could not find any record of it. I ended up taking him to riverside in Secaucus. They always do everything correct there. I'm done with my quarantine. I followed up at Riverside in North Bergen, 75/Bergenline for blood work, antibiotics prescription, and a request for a culture sample. Doctor there was a gentleman. I look forward to returning here for any future diagnosis. Riverside in Edgewater New Jersey was the absolute worst. Never again. read more

For a 9:00 am appointment, I wait 45 minutes, Dr is out sick, it happens, I am fasting for blood work, and 1.5 hours later, I am told there's is still one patient ahead of me for blood work! I will no longer use riverside medical group for my health needs. A few reasons: Calling the office gets routed to an operator who I have encountered friendly and others not very friendly. I have tried there telemedicine and you would think they would have a reliable solution. Always late, had my incorrect number, phone/internet is unreliable I went to visit doctor Atoot. When I got to my appointment. A nurse practitioner saw me and After getting prescribed metformin for diabetes type 2. Bloodwork was done and levels were high but no call from the doctor. I was concerned so I tried to scheduled a telemedicine appointment but Dr. Atoot or the nurse practitioner were not available. Now comes in a 2nd doctor who after reviewing my blood work doubled my medication and suggested in ordering ozempic which cost me 800.00. I followed up with my primary via telemedicine and Dr.Atoot was unprepared with my results and rushed me off the call. His opinion is to take insulin. 3 doctors from the same medical group that don't talk about patients they see. 3 different suggestions and recommendations. Can't trust them read more

This the WORST customer service I have EVER seen in my life. The worst! I tried making an appointment to do an X-ray for over two months. I kid you not... They have people at reception INCAPABLE of doing their work! At... the beginning of January, I called their office to schedule an X-ray. They offered a Call Back where I don't need to wait, so I picked this option. Never got a callback. Called in a few days. Didn't trust "the call back" option this time so stayed on hold for over 30 minutes. They picked up, but the connection was bad and they just hanged up on me while I was asking to please call me back! I decided to email (their robot suggests doing so while you are on hold). I emailed asking to send the prescription to the center. No response. My email went into oblivion. Called the next week and bravo (!) I got a hold of a person. Asked them to send my prescription to the Radiology center. They said they will :-) I waited a couple of days and no one called me neither from the Radiology center nor the Riverside Medial group. So I called the center myself. They said they never received any prescription... I called the Riverside group next week, again. On HOLD for 30 + minutes. They answer and I ask to resend my prescription. They said they will. I wait a day. No call from the Radiology center. So I call the Radiology Center myself AGAIN. Do you want to guess it?? They never received any prescription from my doctor... I called again! Got a hold of one of their incapable receptionists who asked ME (!) the fax number of the Radiology Center wereaholdDo you they suppose to send my prescription! Why am I supposed to tell them that?!?!? Luckily and strangely enough I had the number in front of me and I provided their receptionist with a number... They said they will send a prescription... You want to guess it??? Exactly... Not to bore you THIS had happened another 4 times!!!!! I call, I'm on hold 30+ min, I talk to them saying why the hell can't they send a prescription!? They say they will and it never happens! I even spoke to a supervisor of this medical group and still, I have NO APPOINTMENT for an x-ray!! **%$**&( WHAT IS GOING ON?!?!?!? At this point, I started thinking there is certainly a hidden camera somewhere or it's a bad bad dream! Today is February 26. It has been 2 months. I still don't have an appointment for the X-ray... I'm on hold with them right now as I'm writing this review... Because at this point I want to protect people from wasting their time like this medical group has wasted mine... I'll get it done, I'll go till the end, I'll do my X-ray and I will steer away from this hell medical group and will advise people I care for to do the same. read more

I love it here, I was able to get my appointment the same day as my sons checkup. They never say no, every time I call they make things happen! I have only had good experiences at this location! I really like Dr Vranesich and Dr Brackenrich, both of whom I have seen on different visits. I have never had to wait for more than 5 mins for my appointment and it's super convenient that they can take blood work on location. A couple of times there was some confusion over insurance. Once my blood work was sent to the wrong lab (double check with the technician beforehand!) and once a nurse did an ear test, which was not covered by my insurance. They fixed the situation both times, which is why I am not taking any stars away. Just a minor inconvenience. They also accept walk-ins and I was able to be seen almost immediately! read more

We have been taking my son, to the Edgewater location since he was born. We have always been happy and know he's taken such good care of by Dr. Tomsa and the rest of the Edgewater team. However, on 8/14 we had the medical assistant, Cathy, who went above and beyond her job description to make sure my baby was healthy, happy, and ESPECIALLY loved!!! We have had many medical assistants at the Office, most of which have come in, took his weight and credentials, and left. One of which we even request NOT to have- Cathy, however, was incredible! My son was sick for the first time, and extremely fussy-she gave him endless hugs, was so patient, and especially helpful to me (as a nervous and emotional mom). I am a teacher, I know in the medical field (like education) we don't get bonuses for good performance; our wealth is the gratification of others and a good compliment! You can be assured that we will be requesting Cathy any time we return to Edgewater! Thank you for sharing her professionalism with our family! I'm not sure why this place only has one star other than that maybe most of the patients aren't yelpers. This office is clean, inviting, and a one stop facility. It's located on the third floor and offers both pediatric and adult services. They also do blood work on site. The only reason it's not 5 stars is that the wait times can be a bit lengthy, especially in a seemingly empty office (I was the only person in the waiting room for a 10am appointment). This office is affiliated with HUMC (which I like because it's the only hospital I'll admit to) and the Secaucus office is open until 10pm everyday. As in 365. The staff is very friendly, as is Dr. De la Cruz. I've never seen or interacted with this office manager others are mentioning. I've had nothing but great experiences on both occasions I've been here. read more

Worst medical experience with Dr. Atoot and his staff at riverside. They are so unorganized . I visited for a physical and instead of addressing my issues they just wanted to do their own routine test and bill me. I had to visit multiple times because they messed up the appointments or forgot to actually take the right tests (in one case they scheduled my test and ask me to fast just to find out the lap is closed duringmy appointment. The staff also specifically told me I won't be charged for certain things but ended up billing me. After several months of follow up they are just ignoring the issue and passing me between billing, insurance and other. They have no respect for patients. read more

I chose Riverside Medical group for my newborn based on location, availability of doctors and the multiple offices that offer various times of operation. The office prefers to schedule appointments online. Reminders are sent out multiple times prior to your appointment in the form of txt messages and phone calls. Typically the doctor will see your child 15-25 minutes after your scheduled appointment (this estimate is based on 5 visits). The shortest wait time I had was 15 minutes and the longest wait time I had was 45 minutes, which was followed by an apology by the doctor as well as passing the blame to the office staff for overbooking patients. Offices and waiting area are generally clean. Staff is friendly and professional when engaged in dialogue. My most recent experience involved going to the office to follow up with my child's vaccinations. I chose the "modified" schedule for vaccinations, which means instead of receiving 5-6 vaccinations in one visit, the vaccinations are broken up into two visits. The "modified" protocol isn't something I made up, instead it's a protocol created and offered by Riverside Medical, which I can only assume is an option considered by a large percentage of parents. The "modified" schedule worked well for the first round (month 2 and month 3). Although the "modified" schedule was the only protocol I authorized for my child, I figured it was my parental duty to re-confirm this schedule with the doctor (Dr. Tomsa) for my next visit. After my son received his month 4 "modified" vaccination I went to the front desk and scheduled the next appointment for month 5, which would finish the second set of vaccinations. When I arrived at Riverside for the month 5 follow up to the "modified" schedule, the nurse informed me that my son was given the entire vaccination protocol during my month 4 visit. As any parent or patient can imagine, a medical error is upsetting, scary and hurtful. Dr. Tomsa's response was that I shouldn't be concerned because "all the doctors give their children these vaccinations at once," and that if my child didn't have a fever than I had no reason to worry. Regardless of whether my child had a bad reaction or not, I authorized, confirmed and confirmed AGAIN only one specific protocol for his vaccinations, and it was ignored. Who can trust a doctor or medical group that fails to document and carry out specific instructions from a parent? Although this medical error involved vaccinations, what would have happened if it involved something different like a severe allergy? The office manager was very forthcoming and transparent about the mistake and was willing to accept the responsibility. She said the next time my child receives a vaccination or injection, the vial will be displayed and drawn out in front of me so I know what's going into his body. Unfortunately the damage has been done. It's extremely discouraging when something like this happens, because the trust is no longer present. Like anything else my experience should serve as an example that you and you alone are your child's biggest advocate. Doctors are human- full of errors just like anyone else. Don't give your trust away blindly just because of the title. A doctors office isn't an ER where choices are made and executed at the doctors discretion. You have choices, options and the ultimate say in whatever you feel is best for your child. Like any other doctors office, use Riverside Medical group at your own risk. My child will no longer be seen by Dr. Tomsa, and until the vaccinations are complete I will no longer be visiting the edgewater office. read more

I have had THREE billing issues with this extremely shady practice. I went for a physical and they recommended I get wax removed from my ear. They then billed me for it. The doctor also recommended I do an allergy test. I was charged $375 for it, despite the allergist promising my insurance would cover it. Oh boy.. This is going to be a long review, the longest review I will ever write on Yelp. It's really frustrating to have a bad experience at doctor's office, especially at primary doctor's office. I am a "health care provider" and I work Monday-Saturday. I had one day off during week days for the first time in a year d/t holiday, so I wanted to have basic blood work done since my last check up was over 6-7months ago. Since this was the only place available during my off day, I made an appointment asap. making an appt was really.. really easy through Zocdoc. no wonder! waiting time on my first visit was only 10-15mins which was totally fine with me. The medical assistant, named Lynette, was EXTREMELY rude and unprofessional. When I asked her about what kind of blood tests they will run for me, if I need to come back to get lab results, etc.. she literally rolled her eyes multiple times at me and said "We are the doctors and nurses, we know exactly what we are doing." I am not adding anything. This is literally what she said to me. and also "hmmm ughh. just BASIC USUAL blood work. OKAY?" when I told her "I understand that you are going to test for basic blood work, but you did not specify which tests, so that's why I asked." and then she finally let me know which tests they will run. of course WITH MAAAD ATTITUDE. She even said she is a charge "MA" out of all their locations and knows what she was doing.. My jaw just dropped. I didn't tell anyone that I work at the hospital and I am a health care provider because they do not need to know about it and I do not need to tell them about it. I have been to many doctor's offices in the past and worked with many health care providers, but I have NEVER experienced this before. NEVER AND EVER. I am still shocked about what she said and her attitude towards patient. I just assumed she was really unhappy that she had to work during holidays. hah. She also told me I can get test results over the phone. The second annoying part was the phone call. I received a phone call on Saturday WHILE I WAS AT WORK, the lady named Vicky? called me and told me that I have abnormal test results and I need to come in for consultation regarding on my test results. I told her I can't go any time soon since I work 8-8 during weekdays and some Saturdays. She told me to come in next Saturday then. I told her I can not wait for a week to get my test results since she already said I have abnormal test results and I need to know as soon as possible. she said she can't notify any test results over the phone because of HIPPA. I was terrifying and I was having an anxiety attack that I have never had in my life. so I hung up after I told her that I will figure things out. I said it just because first of all, she sounded very annoyed when I said I want to know my lab results asap and did not seem to understand the emotional distress they give to patients when they say "abnormal results" OVER THE PHONE and second of all I know why they do not want to notify the test results because they want to make more money by simply charging patients' copays and insurances when patients go back for test results. BTW! UNDER A FEDERAL LAW, PATIENTS HAVE RIGHT TO OBTAIN/ REQUEST FOR THEIR OWN MEDICAL DOCUMENTS INCLUDING LAB RESULTS REGARDLESS NORMAL OR ABNORMAL. Third part that made me so upset was.. I used one of my vacation days to go to this office to get my OWN test results. Of course I had to pay $30 copay for pcp visit and waited 50mins to see the doctor. 50mins!!!! I paid my copay without complaining because I did not want to waste my time. Doctor was nice and went over everything with me. and guess what the doctor told me? She said SHE WASN'T EVEN SURE WHY I WAS TOLD TO COME BACK FOR TEST RESULTS. I read my test results and nothing was abnormal. maybe one? but that is not abnormal. ARE YOU GUYS KIDDING ME? ARE YOU SERIOUS? I just wasted my money, time, and vacation day. SO THEY GAVE ME A REFUND OF $30 BECAUSE DOCTOR CONFIRMED THAT I DID NOT HAVE TO COME BACK FOR TEST RESULTS!!!!!!! She literally said "I am not sure why the call center did not notify the test results over the phone. This is not considered abnormal." BOOM. If they are not medically trained to notify lab results over the phone, they shouldn't call patients about lab results. Don't ever try leaving here they want to charge 15.00 dollars just to transfer your own child medical record that technically belongs to the parents so we asked to bill us cause we thought it was wrong they asked us why we left and it's a reason that I'm sure many parents there feel. It's the fact when you go you never get the same doctor me and my wife grew up having the same pediatrician and that to us is invaluable. I am extremely disappointed and dissatisfied with the poor followup service at the Edgewater location. Dr. Ali sent my husband for an ultrasound test in Oct and another CT scan in Dec. Both times, we had to call the docs office 6-8 weeks later to ask about the results, long after we paid the hospital bill. Why didn't the office call us after the results were received? Moreover, each time we called, after taking quite some time to figure out whether they even received the test results, the standard response has always been "we will make you an appointment to come in so the doc can discuss this with you". Really? Another visit = more revenues! Isn't it? Plus we have to take time off work to come in. What happens to putting patients interest first? I understand certain follow up visits are medically necessary to order additional tests but these sometimes feel excessive. If my MD in Manhattan can communicate blood test results within a week over the phone, why can't RMG do so? Riverside Medical Group really needs to do a better job organizing itself and communicating with patients! read more

I have been a patient for over a year and when i was a patient with them when i was a kid for many years. The doctors are GREAT! even when my doctor was on maternity leave, the doctor that was covering was amazing! Now lets get to the why that have anything lower then a five star, the staff is always rude. This is not including the women who does blood work. Forget about calling in, I am always on hold for at least 5 minutes before i even get a hello. Keep in mind that every time I go there is more then one person out front and is never that busy. I work a 9-5 i wouldn't make it to the office till 6:30 and they are only open late one day a week. I called in today because I needed them to send in a prescription because i clearly cant make it in and this has been done for me before. But of course they could not be bothered. they dint ask my name , why i need this, or even what time I can go in. This is not the first time they have done something like this. I went in i have strep and a fever of 104, when leaving the office i forgot to ask for a note for work. I called in (waited the 5 mins) and asked if they could please fax it over, of course there was the huffing and puffing on her end but she said she would do it. I called to conform that it was sent and i was hold "i already did it". when i returned to work my boss asked me for the note do to the fact i was out more then one day and i told her it was fax. The Edgewater Pediatrics office is clean and the staff is polite. The wait is pretty long, but I assume that's about the same with all doctor's offices.The doctors are OK, but the whole billing is a scam! I went in because my infant was sick (a cold/cough) and I was billed indecent amount of money to be told I needed to do Nebulizer sessions at home and give her acetaminophen if she had a fever. Seriously? They billed over $500 for that! The front desk has no clue on the billing whatsoever and just tells me to call their billing department every time. The billing department is not willing to review and just asked me to deal with my insurance, and to deal with the front desk. This is a never ending process. Now I am to a point I won't bring in my newborn, even if she has a very bad cough for weeks, because I cannot afford $500 simple doctor visits. What a shame! read more

She has wonderful bedside manners, very knowledgeable, and she really truly cares about her patients. The office staff there is also so sweet. Karen C. has always been helpful whether it is a school form that needs to be filled out, or any other need I have she is always quick and efficient. She knows my son loves Dinosaurs and on our next visit she had Dinosaur stickers! My son was so happy and this small gesture has helped him overcome any fear of going to the doctor's office. Cynthia Macias always help us with our concerns and at the end of the appointments always makes sure we come to follow up and make our appointments. Dr Ali and her staff are very caring, hospitable, and most importantly knowledgable. Dr Ali took her time explaining her concerns with my diagnosis, and made sure to do everything she could to ensure a quick and easy recovery. She followed up the following day with a phone call to see how I am feeling. She went above and beyond requesting to do blood tests and catscans to make sure i was diagnosed correctly from my previous doctor. Location: North Bergen I saw Dr. Mody in rheumatology and had blood testing done more than 3 weeks ago and have not been contacted about my results that are critical to my health! I go to multiple offices of yours and this is the first very disappointing encounter. I called yesterday and spoke to a receptionist and she said "oh yeah, we got the results in I'll have someone call you today, if not tomorrow at the latest". It is now the next day, I haven't received a call and when I called several times around 2:30 they kept forwarding my call to the voicemail/message even though the hours say today they're open till 3! This is highly unprofessional and aggravating that not only am I paying for these dissatisfying services but my health is at stake. I have three children, the oldest of whom is 18 years old. I've been taking all of them to Pedimedica since birth. Every visit I've been charged the co-pay of $15 or $20 and that's it--for sick-visits, well-visits, whatever. We have very good insurance with United Healthcare. With 3 kids, we've run the gamut of physical aliments, doctor visits, hospitalizations, but we've always been charged only the co-pay. This past spring it all changed. I took my daughter to get a pre-college vaccine. We were supposed to go back to get a booster a week later. When we returned the following week, I told the doctor that my daughter had had a flu-like reaction to the first shot. The doctor recommended waiting another week for the second shot. I was subsequently charged $191 for a sick visit. On the bill I noticed the name of the group had changed to Riverside Medical--they had bought out Pedimedica. I took my second daughter in a few months later--a 15 minute visit. Again, my insurance company was charged $480 for a sick visit, $191 of which I was responsible for. This has never happened before. I've NEVER been charged anything other than the co-pay, unless it was bloodwork or out-of-office tests. This is completely insane. I'll never go back there again.
