This place is really horrible. As a new mom, scheduling my first newborn visit was something that was a little stressful. I went from my original pediatrician to here, because it is conveniently located in my town. The reviews about the front desk staff,at all the locations, are pretty bad, but I tried not think anything of it because the hospital which I gave birth at recommended this pediatrician and I personally had an amazing experience at the hospital during the birth of my child, so I trusted them. It's also convenient that they are associated with my hospital, in the case that anything happens, everyone can be in sync. The two times I called in: 1. To let them know that I was having difficulty obtaining the progress note from my original pediatrician - I was met with a woman legitimately yelling at me on the phone saying "SIGN THE RELEASE!!" which, if she took the time to actually listen to me first, and not assume things - I think communication would have gone a lot better. 2. To reschedule my first visit because my lactation consultant at the hospital recommended that I try to see them earlier to just track the baby's weight gain - I was met with a woman hanging up on me twice, extremely rude attitude (it was right around 8:40 when I called, not sure if she just had a rough start to her day but it was a bit ridiculous to be that rude so early) and being told to call back later because they don't take calls in regard to visits until after 10. (Didn't see this info on the site, otherwise I would have respected this!) Both times, while it was just incredibly hard to hold back frustration, I took the high road and just ended the conversations to not stress myself out. The front desk staff really needs to be trained in some basic customer service skills and bedside manner, being they are in the profession they are in. In my opinion, if you hate your job so much to be so rude to the clients then why not quit? read more

My children have been going to this office since birth. It is close to my home, so it is easy to get to. Last year we switched to seeing Dr. Starer, and she is amazing. I highly recommend her. She is very calm, and is also great at explaining everything about our children to us. I've also come in for the sick hours, due to an emergency with my daughter and we were helpful, and we were seen quickly. I'd definitely recommend this practice to others. read more

Tenafly Pediatrics has taken amazing precautions with Covid. I love the idea of waiting in the car and it's a relief that sick visits are at a different location. We were unsure about coming in for our toddler's wellness visit but so glad we did. Everything was wiped down in the room when we arrived and everyone was wearing a mask. The nurses are so gentle with our crying daughter. Our pediatrician, Dr. Starer always takes time to answer all our questions. She gives great advice regarding our baby's development. We never feel rushed here. She is the best and we are lucky to have her as the pediatrician for our family. read more

Best pediatric office in fort lee! We've been to Riverside medical and Excelcare in fort lee and Tenafly Peds is the best from the office space, covid protocol, receptionists to the doctors. When you get to the office, you text to let them know you arrived, then they assign you a room. You go straight to that patient room so there is no need to interact with anyone. The patient room is also very clean and presentable (unlike riverside medical). We love our ped, Dr. Martakis. He is very knowledgeable and takes the time to answer all of our questions, which are always many! We also appreciate how thorough he is. If you ever need to talk to the doctor, expect the call back to take a few hours. I assume they are very busy which is why it takes so long to hear back. read more

My wife and I live locally to the Fort Lee office so obviously, unless no appointments are available that's where we go. Sometimes the only drawback could be traffic because the GWB is very close to the office. Today traffic was fine even though the weather wasn't great, rain and fog. The office offers 2 sections in the waiting room. 1 for not well (sick) and well children, which is a good idea. We had an 4:45 appointment got there a little earlier and were taken in pretty much right away. It was our sons first year checkup, plus some shots needed. The nurse who took his measurements, weight, length, eye test etc was very nice and helpful keeping him calm. After all that the pediatrician came in Dr Starer, she's very nice and breaks everything down that the rest of the visit will entail. Very polite and I think if we had a 100 questions she wouldn't mind answering them all. Now the fun part the shots done by the nurse. Three in all 1/2/3 they were all done, he was a star! We were in and out in 20 minutes, also worked with us for his next appointment which is in 3 months cause we will be on vacation around then. We obviously are sticking to Dr Starer and the practice. We have no problem recommending them to any of our friends with newborns or older children. read more

Amazing practice. This truly is a family-friendly practice and two generations of mine have been patients here! My brothers and I were patients here as kids and remember often being seen by Dr Buchalter, Wisotsky, Starer, Kim and I believe I even saw Aranoff in my late teens. Now my children see Dr Kim and she is still amazing! My brothers also take their daughters to the Paramus and Park Ridge offices. The Fort Lee office still has the same warm and friendly environment and still has the fish tank! The location is always convenient for me but the Tenafly and Paramus locations are great as well with plenty of parking and easy to get to via public transportation. The staff is friendly, helpful and quick! I have never waited longer than 5 minutes to be seen. They have walk in hours early in the morning (I believe from 8-9 or 8:30 to 9:30 but I may be wrong). Dr Kim has been amazing for both of my kids and I highly recommend her. She genuinely cares. She takes the time to discuss your concerns, explain everything to you, and always has a list of specialists ready if you need them. She also takes the time to really research disorders. For example - my son has a rare chromosome disorder that most doctors don't come across and she made a copy of my literature on it and studied it in an effort to be the best doctor to my son she could be. I'm sure she does that with all of her patients- but I had never met a doctor that devoted to her patients which truly touched me. We have also seen Dr Martakis for emergency appointments who is VERY funny and great! Any doctor you see at Tenafly Peds will be amazing - they have an awesome team. read more

I usually don't write a review but I felt needed to. My twin boys are nine years old. There has never been a time when I can honestly say that the front desk and nurses were polite, compassionate and kind towards me and my children. They are always abrupt and it's a shame because Dr. Starer is amazing. She is calm, smart and my boys love her. We were recently there for an appointment and the Maria the nurse was awesome. I'm gonna switch to the Tenafly office and continue seeing Dr. Starer there. Anyway, I've been meaning to write a review and I finally did. Stay away from the Fort Lee Office!!! read more

My son experienced high fever 103-104F for 3days. After not very good experience at Tenafly pediatrics I was willing to give it a second try at Fort Lee office since both offices are close to my house. Fort Lee office advised that they can only see my SICK child if he completes WELL visit and I will transfer medical records. So this tells me, that money are more important to this practice than a sick child who needs to see a doctor. read more

This review is about the Fort Lee's office. I read the reviews about the receptionists and thought I would take my chances anyway. I have inquired multiple times about transferring my son to this office. It has been so difficult to get a transfer form. Finally, I was told to stop by to pick it up. I scanned it and sent a follow up e-mail on August 31st. I never heard back and three weeks later, I called to find out the status. I was told to "send it again" "we don't have it" "are you sure it was this office" and lastly, "I don't know what to tell you because it's not here" and "we are doing you a favor because you should be doing that, not us." I am beyond disgusted with the lack of professionalism and accountability! Needless to say, I will be looking for another pediatrician. The "ladies" at the front desk are a nightmare and I wouldn't want to deal with this type of customer service if my son were to become a patient. Reading other reviews, it sounds like this has been an ongoing issue. Please hire people that want to work! I'm sure you can find plenty of others willing to take that job and are polite to parents. read more

The inexperienced nurse struggled to take my kid's hearing and vision screening and for a long time still can't get the number correct. She has to ask for another nurse to come to help. Then when Doc. Kim knew my kid did not pass the left ear hearing test, she took out a LED earpick and started to scrape really hard, as she thought not passing hearing test was due to "earwax" My kid was crying bc of the pain and discomfort but she still didnt let go. When we got home, I found there was blood in his left ear! The plastic earpick scratched his inner ear! I understand doctors and nurses have really busy schedules and tend to run out of patience when dealing with crying kids. But still, can you please be gentle on a 4-year-old? This was a horrible experience for me. read more

Generally I am not the one to write reviews. But felt necessary as it would not be fair to the amazing doctors and nurses who practice at this location. We have always had a positive experience at the Tenafly pediatrics at Fort lee. My 3 boys love Dr. Buchalter. He has been amazing and we would always seek his judgement on any of their health issues. The experience in diagnosis and care we have received has been outstanding. The front staff are professional and to the point. If you are looking for some TLC from front staff then that is not their expertise but you get it from the nurses and the dr. On reading the other reviews of the front staff experience I might agree to some degree to their point of view and so give the office 4 stars. read more

I absolutely love Dr. Joanne Aranoff and the staff at Tenafly Pediatrics! We are always seen on time for our appointments and there is never a wait. Dr. Aranoff is so compassionate and amazing with both our little girls and never tires of my endless questions to ease my mind. They have always made room for emergency visits and they are always so courteous. I'm so thankful to have been referred to Dr. Aranoff because she truly is amazing! read more

I agree with other reviewer. Front desk people treat you like you are a criminal. Seriously they have no idea what customer service means and shouldn't be seating at the front! Every time I go there or call, they are the most unpleasant people i ever deal with. They are very reluctant to do anything- write a letter to school, call different pharmacy even if it was there mistake. Plus I met multiple doctors there bc of my daughter's illness and I have to say I'm really unhappy about how they treated her and follow up -oh, there no follow up by the way. Most doctors there treats baby like the next number. Tired of answering questions if you have any, if you don't ask, they are in and out in 2 seconds. I don't see any caring from any doctors in that office. I'm going to switch. I recommend you to do your research before going to this place. read more

I am chiming in with my two cents with regards to the front office staff. Yes, they are ornery, bitter, indifferent and have zero personality. They have been there for too long and just suck the niceness out of others. It takes away from the wonderful doctors in the practice. I left that practice because one of my children was diagnosed with something that would be an ongoing health issue. Just the thought of having to deal with the two beauties who answer the phones for an extended period of time was unbearable. read more

Worst experience EVER at the Fort Lee office. The nurse was trying to take blood sample from my daughter. My daughter was very nervous at the beginning, instead of trying to calm her down, the nurse was so pushy and indifferent, she didn't care the fear of the kid, insisted on grabbing her arm and squeezed her little finger very hard with horrible and very cruel attitude. Seeing blood splashing from my daughter's finger by her squeeze, I was feeling very bad and the little one was crying hard already. However, the nurse just said "Well, don't worry, I will take care of the blood splashed from her on my hand." Come on, my little one was hurt emotionally and psychically both by this very rude operation, and the nurse only cared about herself, not the patient's feeling at all, especially a little girl. By the way, the nurse was not wearing facial mask at all, but the doctor was. Guess they have had enough patients already, and we won't come back to this pediatrics ever. read more
