Amazing classic ice cream shop! Excellent vibes and staff, super friendly and DELICIOUS ice cream!!!! Get a waffle sundae!

I have been coming to the Matamoras area with friends and family for years at this point to participate in the yearly rafting excursions held on the Delaware River. But only recently have I discovered this hidden gem located so perfectly and pristinely alongside the Delaware in the small town of Matamoras. I am kicking myself for not discovering this place sooner because the quality and quantity of the desserts and ice cream was magical. Maybe it was the heat and utter exhaustion from spending the day in the beating sun and rafting down the river, but the vibes pulling up to this place was equivalent to finding an oasis in the desert. You can tell the service and the quality of the ice cream and ingredients are cared for with love and a rich tradition. Definitely some of the best deserts I've had in a while with a unique flair and beautiful views. This is the kind of place I sing praises for and lead me to review on Yelp in the first place. This adorable Ice cream parlor located right beside the Mid-Delaware Bridge was a quick stop for us before heading to the Cinema. We were seated and served quickly by the staff which was very kind.The Funnel Cake sundae tasted really good, just the right amount of sweetness. This place is clearly the local spot to be. Right in the river; homemade ice cream, great options. A real 5 star place! So why 3 stars? From time to order to time of delivery.... 25 minutes. Yep. 25 minutes to scoop three cones of ice cream. Not sundaes. Not banana boats. Not milkshakes. Just scoops of ice cream. And when we got it? Half melted. We came here after some nearby rafting to cool down and this place was already packed inside. We ordered at the counter some delicious treats, including a brownie waffle, deep fried ice cream, shakes, a banana split... Everyone loved what they got. I tried the deep fried ice cream and it was like a fried donut with ice cream inside; very different from other places that just use a batter. Shakes were good and my kids licked up the bowls clean. When we're done, the parking lot was full and there was a line. So come early! read more

The Mrs. had lived in the area with her family when they first came to this country (a few decades ago now) and she was showing myself and the kids around town and what's better than some ice cream after a trip down memory lane? Stepping inside brings you back to ye olden days of America. When a shop was a shoppe. When Norman Rockwell was just a little runt that didn't know the difference between filbert and a stippler brushes. Listening to a chunk of the Yelp reviews we knew 'deep-fried' was the only way to go and as usual... Yelp was there to help and enhance our travels. It's a serious piece of 'yum' (they gave us both a spoon and a fork - so you know this ain't no joke when it's time to dig in and stuff your mug). We visited around 2pm-ish and there was no way I needed dinner the rest of the night. One kid went with the shake (loved it, somehow made a mess all over a face even though he was drinking it through a straw!), another got a cone (he asked for 2-scoops and it looked like he got 4) and he had to tap out and quit before he even reached the cone (I know, I know... what kind of monster doesn't save room for the cone?!). Cool team of young'uns behind the counter kept the orders flowing smoothly (early spring and this place had a serious stream of customers through the front door as well as the back window). Solid pricing for the quality/quantity. And a cool little 'hang out' area in the back with some benches and tables right by the river. Definitely recommended. read more

We went here for ice cream - and ice cream is what we got! They showed a special cold brew drink but when I asked for it they didn't have it- he told me not enough people were ordering it and it goes bad! Then when I asked for a soft serve twist - chocolate and vanilla and wanted the chocolate covered cone they had run out of that too! So I got a cone with the sprinkles on it - last one. Sunday was actually our second time at this old timey creamery. We were here on Father's Day but forgot to wrote a review, which would have been four happy stars. Unfortunately, we had a less-than-stellar experience this past time around because they were completely slammed and understaffed and the whole thing was chaos. We had three different servers all tossing an iPad around to get orders and it was nobody was available for bussing, ordering, etc. When we had been here previously, it was slightly busy and everything was managed well, but that was before the full swing of summer, and they definitely need to do more preparation and training for those weekend rushes. That complaint aside, we really like this place. It's adorable and while you can see that the place got a lot of years on it and hasn't quite aged well, its charms are still aplenty. We had food on Sunday and the cheeseburger is surprisingly good, as are the waffle fries. The chicken parm sandwich was too dry, though, so we wouldn't recommend that. Prices for food are high considering it only comes with a tiny Costco macaroni salad on the side, but the prices for ice cream are very reasonable. They have a nice, creamy soft serve (vanilla, chocolate, or twist) that one of us has had as a sundae. The cookie monster ice cream has--imagine the voice here--way too many cookies! It's like 75% cookie when you'd like a bit more ice cream. Our kiddo had the thin mint sundae and one of us also tried the black forest one--both humongous, both delicious. Last time, we also got a shake and they keep it classy here by bringing you the extra in the maker-glass (or whatever it's called). Despite settling on three stars and our unhappiness with the service, we do really like this place and can see ourselves coming back when we're in the area next summer. read more

DELICIOUS!!! We had the fried ice cream as well as the Bocchi Ball both were delicious. The fried ice cream is fried with a funnel cake outside which is different from other fried ice creams I have had. The location has a beautiful view of the water out back. read more

I had a medium panda paw sundae that was just okay because It was a little too sweet for my taste, but I am sure a kid would have loved it. What i did absolutely love here was my friend's fried ice cream which was absolutely delicious. I would come back here again just for that! I came here with some friends after a day of rafting. It's a cute shop in what appears to be a converted house. It's very old school, like an ice cream parlour. We got the fried ice cream, a thin mint sundae, and cheese fries. The cheese fries were unexpectedly good. We ended up getting a second order. Fried ice cream was interesting, dipped in funnel cake batter and deep fried. The thin mint sundae was exactly as expected, full of chocolate and refreshing mint flavor. Tonight was the worst experience I have had at an establishment. So much so that I wanted to write a review. Went in for ice cream with friends and our children. We all wanted to sit next to each other so we let other sit while we waited over 40 minutes for an available table. We found a table next to our kids and waited for the previous customers to finish. When they did, I grabbed their table and the bus boy cleaned it and I was handed my ice cream. A quarter of the way through I had a wet rag thrown down in front of me and a "reserved" sign. The waitress Paige was extreme rude, she told me I had to get up and move bc the table was reserved. While I was already eating!??! my husband pulled the owner aside and the owner didn't seem to care one bit. Two people sat at that table and another one who was on shift. All he had to say was "that's my employees home from college". So you kick a customer out of their table midway through their food to seat your employees????? So unprofessional. We own two businesses and I would NEVER do that to a customer. They could have sat outside to have a conversation. Not take my table. Sorry sir, but you just lost over a dozen valuable customers. We're the ones that keep you in business, not your college employees. DO BETTER. Maybe take some courses in business management. read more

The ice cream is good though not great. The prices were a little on the high side.
