The Christmas Carol was preformed at the community players. An older building with some charm and there were plenty of parking spaces. The restrooms were clean; they also offered refreshments and beverages for purchase during intermission. I purchased my ticket at the box office before the show. There was not a bad seat in the house as all the seats were circled around the intimate stage. It was also immersive as the cast ran throughout the cleared aisles. COZY COMMUNITY THEATRE! My Mom introduced me to this theatre-in-the-round a couple years ago and we've been coming ever since! The seats are comfortable, the views are solid, and the intimate setup of the venue makes this place quite immersive. Some of the productions are a bit hit-or-miss for me, but I really enjoy coming as the environment is pretty welcoming and they try to change up the schedule each year to accommodate to different age groups. RCP has snacks outside for sale and free coffee w/ a personal donation to the theatre group. I admire the resilience of this theatre and its staff as the Riverside Community Players have survived the COVID-19 pandemic, arson, and other challenges. Bravo! read more

I was very hopeful as I love community theater and was excited to see a play at a new venue but I can not recommend this one. We attended "Sherlocks last case" and were disappointed to find the star characters of the show Sherlock and Dr Watson were portrayed by women dressed and acting as if they were men. They were neither convincing nor talented in that regard. Perhaps gender bending is very "In Vogue" but I didn't find it entertaining at all. I only regret not leaving sooner than the intermission and wish I had asked for a refund too. read more

A super cute local playhouse, Riverside Community Players are a fun way to spend the evening. I recommend booking in advance because it definitely fills up. There are really no bad seats, because there are only a few rows in a circle around the stage. I have seen a few plays here and they have all been good. Definitely a fun date night! read more

Wife decided to take me to a play and asked if I would like to go to a Theater In The Round, to which I've never been to one before. The play in question was for "A Christmas Carol" (I'm a sucker for that in almost any form). And so we went. Upon arrival I noticed that for some shows it's best if you buy tickets ahead of time or make reservations. We actually had to wait in a queue until we were called. Thankfully we made it in. Also of note, the tickets were $8 each. The theater itself is rather small. I'd guess maybe 100 or so people fit around the center stage. Those who come expecting high levels of acting will be disappointed, however it is enjoyable none the less. The decorations used were simple but fit the bill nicely and the actors all did a great job throughout the play. During intermission, they held a raffle drawing for the kids. They like to encourage reading and gave away a book of the play being done, all autographed by the actors. Overall I found it an enjoyable experience. Great if you have kids or small families who are into such things. read more

Our only complaint is that the parking situation is horrendous right now. I hope they figure it out because many attendees nervously had to park elsewhere. read more

I've seen many performances at this theater and they are always a treat. Such a great group of actors and administrators, and at such a low price. If you love theater, you'll be glad you found RCP. It's a small theater-in-the-round, so you can't get a bad seat. A wonderful addition to the community and very family-friendly. I'm excited to see the upcoming show, Murder on the Orient Express. We LOVE the intimate surroundings and the clever set designs at the Riverside Community Players theater. With the unique "Theater-in-the-round" setting, and basically 4 rows of elevated seats (total of 183) surrounding the circular center stage, there are really no bad seats in the house. We have gone to at least 6 different productions and have really enjoyed all of them from comedy, to musical to drama/mystery. Granted, there have been a few shows better than others, but ticket holders will really appreciate that these unpaid actors are from the community and really do have talent! Some of the set designs are so wonderfully crafted--and help put you into the stories. Don't be put off by the exterior of the building either! The refurbished interior has padded chairs that we found comfortable (don't know what the other reviewers were talking about--the chairs fit us just fine!) and we like the smaller theater setting. Folks there are friendly, ticket prices are an incredible bargain, and the live theater is unpredictably wonderful! We brought several friends to a show recently who had never been to this theater---and they were so impressed with the caliber of the acting and loved the theater in the round concept, that they definitely want to come back again! We're sold on this place and the shows they put on!! read more

Sometimes the performances are really good and you don't notice that you are crammed, stuffed and pushed into a seat---almost in the lap of the person next to you and your knees in the head of the person in front of you.. It's theater in the round, with elevating seats, ala stadium...there really is no bad seat (VIEW WISE) Now on to the boring bad performances...we have actually exited stage right at the intermission rather than endure the play AND the seats. If you are even somewhat of a regular---I was last year...you see the same actors every time you attend--over and over and over! Redeeming quality---really cheap tickets. read more

Came here with with my husband to watch Agatha Christie's black coffee, play overall was good it did get my attention but if it wasn't for one of the actors the detective this play would have been so boring he made this play come together, anyway the place itself is incredibly small I'm talking about how jammed together the seats are personal space is very very limited and I'm a small person and I felt very squished my poor husband who is 6'1 was so uncomfortable in those tiny seats I swear were made for Hobbits. What a splendid matinee performance of "A Christmas Carol" from this dedicated group who put their hearts and souls into conveying this timeless tale!!! We were absolutely enamored with every aspect. Driving from Palm Springs for the first time, we didn't really know what to expect. Aside from having some parking fiascos, everything else was top-notch. All ages came together in this production in an intimate setting. I was worried the theater might be drafty or have us on wooden folding chairs--neither was the case. It is cozy with padded theater seats and the actors did a fabulous job of rotating to ensure everyone got to see thier faces. The director added some creative touches while preserving the true spirit of Dickens. Cannot say enough good about it. Having the actors wish everyone a Merry Christmas in the lobby and pass out candy canes coudn't have been sweeter. I wish each and every one of them and their families a blessed holiday! They added something special to ours and we hope to make the drive again for another wonderful performance! read more

I haven't been to a play here in about 6 months, but after reading some of the reviews, I have to question common sense of the people in the Inland Empire! This place is great! If you want a half pound burger, lots of cheese and great bun, go to Five Guys or Red Robin... not Castle Burgers! If you want a trained staff that responds to your every need, professional actors, big, fluffy seats and valet parking, drive to L.A., spend over $100. a ticket, $20. for parking and sit 300 feet from the stage. This is what it is... Quite a bargain! This is entertainment, mostly by volunteers, and it's almost free.... if you think it should be better, offer to pay the actors a fair wage for the hundreds of hours of rehearsal and performing, volunteer to "run the show", provide better, more roomy seating and add money for the lost revenue needed to pay the rent and lights... Until then, the glass should be refillable....keep it fun and casual, not professional. read more

Dear Cast and Crew, This is a letter of complaint. I seem to have lost track of two hours of my time. On Sunday, July 10th, I showed up at your theater with the full expectation of enjoying two hours of theater at a respected Riverside venue. What happened was I was transported by means unknown to New York. Because I came fully expecting to do what all Theater goers do. Sit quietly, not complaining about the too narrow seats, suffering through the two hour offering and applauding politely at the end. No! What I was offered was "Real Life". I was lost in the mixed up machinations of the life of Harry Witherspoon! I was so locked up into his life that I lost two hours of my own! My time is precious. Normally I would sue for the lost amount of time. However, my psychological therapist "Dr. Phillip Fubar" has explained to me that what really happened was what is defined as "Real Entertainment". This puts me in mind of a discussion with a friend who had produced and directed a couple of films (name is Donald Jones), the films were "Murderlust" and "Housewife From Hell"; when he and is filmmaking partner (Jim something or other) were discussing what it is that sets actors apart: in regards to after all is said and done; after all the time to create the idea, write the screenplay, shoot the film, and complete post production, they shine; possessing what Don and Jim called at the time "Screen Presence". They later went to say that while "Screen Presence" is great, it could be attributed to genetics. What they had experienced was what the actors did. This they attributed to the addition of what they called the "X" factor. That little bit of additional "decision/action/execution" that allows the viewer to suspend reality and go away with the character. This is what happened. You all have the "X" Factor, and you used that on me, making me believe that what I was experiencing was actually "Real Life". Well done but you caught me by surprise. I wouldn't put it past you to having already started plans for a new production, using the full extent of your "X" factor powers! Dare I say it?..."The X-Files". You can count me out!!
