October 2022 production. It was as great as it looks.
    Wendy B.

October 1st, 2022: We had a delightful evening, thanks to the cast and crew of the OCB theater group (Off Broadway Corona Theater). It was a no brainer to buy tickets when I stumbled over an ad for their current production of Peter Pan. And I knew exactly who needed to see this stage production! This play was the exact same musical I remembered from my childhood, featuring the famous Mary Martin, so many decades ago. Peter Pan, the musical, is a tradition I have carried down three generations now, and is my gift to my grandchildren, now the impressionable ages of 8 and 10. I took their mother, my daughter, to see the exact same stage play at their age, when Peter Pan was played by petite Olympic gymnast, Cathy Rigby. And it is not lost that their grandmother (me), WAS named Wendy. It seems my mother had been bitten by the same bug. I really think this production was just as wonderful as those, with two only caveats. So, the cast, almost to a fault, were delightful. Beautiful acting and staging spiked with a gift of exploiting humor and great timing by every one, with many thanks to the talents of Director Amanda Kalkanis and Choreographer, Radames Montes. Peter Pan, played by Elise Burt, was incredibly energetic and impish, a great voice. Captain Hook, played by Paul Kehler, was the show stealer, in my humblest of opinion, with his intuitive acting and line delivery, particularly when he delivered his evilest of laughs. The pirates were so hilarious and I looked forward to each time they appeared. The cast make-up included a wide range of ages, even a few young children. The sets were beautiful, the crew pulled every task off without a hitch, including the flying mechanisms. The staging was intricate and very entertaining, not a dead spot of action as the story progressed. A great deal of thought and effort were put into the costumes, makeup, and lighting. They were delightful, so colorful and intricate. Even the program hand outs themselves were fun, beautifully and professionally designed. Very impressed ! If I had any complaints, while the actors were all hooked up to their own microphones and quite audible, the acoustics of the old theater (the historic Civic Auditorium) itself were not their friend, making the dialog hard to distinguish. The more practiced actors, particularly the two in the lead roles of Hook and Peter Pan, knew how to pace their speech and articulate so their words were not mushy. The others were sometimes lost in delivery. My other observation was, the theater, for this Saturday evening's production, was not nearly as full as it should have been. It was at least a third empty. Perhaps it was a problem in advertising, but I would suggest they look at their ticket pricing. I think it was a bit high. They ranged between $40-$50 a seat, with no discounts for Children or Seniors. While the theater is small, and all the seats were decent, no impediments to viewing the stage (except for the heads in front of you), it is an old auditorium built in the 1930s for the then Corona High School, built for another time when accoustics and technology were not so attuned to today's expectations. Sadly, this is probably the best we in Corona had to offer at this time. I am delighted that Corona supports bringing great stage productions to its community. I only wish that the stage itself was better suited. I hope the city of Corona has a plan in place for a better venue in the near future. With the end of this production, they are currently preparing auditions for their next offering, Man of La Mancha, scheduled for the end of January 2023. I look forward to supporting them again.

Lovely theater of talented people. OBC Theater productions are always beautifully executed. The staff and actors are so sweet and skilled in everything they do!

Good overall. I think the namesake should be an actual boy. Nothing wrong with her acting though.

Each one is treated with dignity and value not just in what the studio can gain from the dancer enrolled, but also in what the individual student can gain for his or herself. Dance technique is a major focus but so is working towards being a better person in lots of ways (ie. commitment, work ethic, and kindness). My girls are genuinely loved and this has benefited not only them, but our whole family. Many kinds of dance is offered here (call for specifics) from basic/beginner instruction to advanced. A recital is given in June to show off to family and friends each dancers hard work. Emphasis is given to each Company member supporting and encouraging their fellow dancers while working towards and exhibiting each one's personal best. I wasn't sure what to expect and actually thought the venue would be smaller. The theater is located in the Corona civic center close to the police station and city hall. There are plenty of parking in on the streets and also int he civic center. You can park there on weekends which is a plus. The cast is so talented and range from ages 8 to 18 all from local schools in the area. The set design was amazing and transported you to the slums of NY in 1899. Costumes and makeup were a hit, too. I thought that adults were also in the play but it was just make-up. The transformations of these kids was pretty cool to see. The singing and dancing was perfection too. You can tell these kids worked hard to put on a production like that. BRAVO! Inside the theater, they sell merchandise for each play and also snacks to enjoy during intermission. You can also buy grams to send to your favorite star in the show which I thought was pretty cool. Everyone working the concessions and doors were great. everyone was so friendly and welcoming to their space. They are having another show in July, Moana Jr. which I really want to go see. it will be my personal birthday gift for myself. Till next time CAT! NOTE: Make sure to bring a sweater even on a hot day. The theater gets really cold inside especially in the back corners.

And with my last visit to the 2023 Nutcracker show, it was nothing but splendid! The performance center itself is part of the Riverside Community College, so depending where you will park, you might get to walk around the campus. There also could be a flight of long stairs or just a flat walk towards the main entrance. Staff here are also really helpful and nice, and I'm sure they are the same for all the different shows they have here. Inside the auditorium, it reminds me of a large lecture hall: with those wooden, collapsable chairs...just felt like being in college again! Which was cool. The stage and its lighting system is amazing and the stage will be lit up just perfectly for any show. I really enjoy coming here and who knows, maybe I'll come back for another show!

The Theater is large with 1500 seats and a professional stage that I hear is about to get some major upgrades. It's obvious that a lot of effort has gone into making this storied stage something special. Simple concessions from a local club from campus were nice and just the right price. Tickets for into the woods was just $16.00 with a $5 discount for advanced purchase, an amazing bargain! Into The woods was fantastic, clever, and massively entertaining with a superb cast. The Sets and lighting crossed between professional and campy, just perfect for such a fun show.
