Russ and the Riverside Collision crew did an absolutely amazing job fixing up my car after I got in a fender bender at the beginning of October. The only downside of the whole process was that the repair took a little longer than expected but that was due to delays in deliverers which is expected during these times dealing with COVID, so that is understandable! If they do not like your insurance, you are in for a major disappointment, as other reviews have stated. If they don't like your insurance company, fully expect the run around, rude staff, being yelled at by the lady who answers the phone, and substandard body work. Keys were left in my vehicle parked out on the street without being informed... No phone calls, zero communication, nothing. read more

We brought our 2019 Honda Odyssey into Riverside recently for body damage and couldn't be happier with the results. We were recommended to Riverside by a neighbor and when we arrived we met Ross the Owner. What a genuinely nice guy who was great with both my wife and I worked around our schedule to get in the vehicle, setting us up with a rental and keeping us posted with the process. The work performed made our van look like it just rolled out of the dealership. I will also say that all of Riverside's staff were equally welcoming. My vehicle was involved in a hit and run. I did not want to take my vehicle to this Riverside in Fox River Grove. This was the only place nearby that my insurance would tow to. During the repair, my vehicle was at Riverside for almost twice as long as any other shop would have kept it. The workers/owner made it very difficult during the process. The work done my car was well below satisfactory. There were still dents and bends in the aluminum. Now, over a year later, RUST IS NOW DEVELOPING. Great work, guys. This is by far one of the shadiest and disappointing auto body shops in illinois. I suggest that nobody takes their vehicle there for any sort of repair. These are merely the facts. Nothing more. Wow, I just picked up my car and Riverside did an amazing job!! My car looks new and they did a wax job on my car, inside and out, and even cleaned the inside of the trunk. When I took it over for an estimate, Ross, the owner, looked at it right away and gave me a quote on the spot. They handled my insurance company and the process went very quickly. Very reasonable cost, much less than I thought it would be and they did some extra work without charging me for it. This company has been in business for 40 years, family owned, they know their business, and take great pride in their work. Nice employees, very professional and Ross is awesome to work with. Over the years I have brought my cars into Riverside a few times. While it is never a welcome incident that brings me to this shop, I can say that Ross and his team have made the experience a lot less stressful. First of all, the shop handled all the rental car details. Maybe a small thing -- but when you are involved in an accident -- everything that can remove stress is welcome! The window motor was broken on my car so I was surprised when my sister-in-law recommended this place since it is a body shop. Some jerk broke off my mirror in the parking lot and round up spraying fluid all over my truck I was referred to Riverside by my insurance agent not only did they work 100% with my insurance company but they were able to make sure I did not have too much out of pocket and when I got my truck back it looks better than brand new they had to respray entire side of my truck and even though it is a pearl paint you can't tell where the old paint is in the new paint is they matched everything perfectly! Just got my wife's car back, and the entire process was outstanding. We worked with Ross. He was straightforward and clearly communicated what, when, and how much. They then delivered as promised. They even managed the bulk of the interaction with the insurance company once we had initiated the claim. The finished job looks great! Any concerns about parts alignment, color matching, or blemishes were quickly allayed when he went over all the repairs at pick up. I am going to take another vehicle there for a non-insurance repair, as they were willing to provide ball park estimates and work with us on a cost effective fix. I have to admit that I was initially concerned by the street presence. It looks like a little shop with a bunch of cars waiting (thus fear that I would be waiting as well). The inside is huge and they had a couple dozen vehicles in there being repaired. There is a reason our insurance agent recommended them - they guarantee their work and they have been around forever. My decision to take my car here following being hit from behind continues to haunt me. Initially seemed like a great idea. They came highly recommended and as a woman, I believed that with such a high rating by my State Farm Insurance, I would be well cared for and treated with respect-I was wrong on all accounts. I picked up my vehicle following completion of the repairs by Riverside Collision and noticed a loud clanking noise underneath my vehicle. I took it back to the shop within the hour following pick-up and was told my exhaust needed to be replaced but it was not part of the insurance claim. Although it was not banging around prior to Riverside's repair, he stated the cause was rust that had finally deteriorated during the repair process; however insurance would not pay for wear and tear issues such as rust. He recommended Discount Muffler and Brakes and I made an appointment to get the repair done at my expense. Discount Muffler and Brake in Palatine (great customer service/work-847-991-3660) told me that when my car was hit from behind the impact pushed the exhaust forward and out of the appropriate seating /track. They said I did NOT need a new exhaust, nor was there rust damage that would cause the exhaust system to clank around as stated by Ross at Riverside Collision in Fox River Grove. They called my insurance, met with the adjustor, reviewed the issue, and confirmed the exhaust displacement WAS covered under the insurance claim. State Farm paid Discount to fix the problem and it eliminated the clanking. Another issue I have with the repairs by Riverside is the back gate (Jeep Wrangler) opens at the worst times (driving down I-90, driving with my 2-year old nephew strapped in the back seat, etc). I went back to Riverside and told him what was going on and I also shared with him the results of the exhaust issue and he sarcastically replied that if I could get the insurance to cover the exhaust repair (implying I had pulled one over on the insurance) that he could probably get the lock on my gate covered. Please keep in mind I had NEVER had my gate open while driving for the multiple years I had driven my car PRIOR to Ross and his team at Riverside Collision touching it, but now it opens often! I decided against going back to Riverside as I do not need my character and integrity questioned by the repair shop hired to fix my car! Please also note that he still refused to acknowledge that he missed the exhaust damage and instead chose to still imply that I was cheating the insurance, even though his own highly recommended exhaust shop had been the one to determine it was caused by the accident! Unbelievable! I recently called my insurance to file a complaint (my gate opened again while driving down Rte 14 to work this morning) and resubmit a claim and I told State Farm I do NOT want to take my car back for corrective repair to the Riverside Collision, as the whole experience with this shop has been ridiculous and stressful and I do not need to be treated like I am attempting to get something other than what I am entitled to- a good, complete repair done well and to be treated with respect as a customer. The adjustor at State Farm told me this morning that Ross had called them following my visit to discuss the gate opening randomly while driving a few months back. Apparently Ross at Riverside Collision told them that it was likely my 'boyfriend' or someone had slammed it hard and broken the latch! How silly is this? To think that a repair shop would rather provide such a lame explanation for poor, faulty work is just amazing to me. I don't understand this behavior from the owner of Riverside Collision, nor do I ever which to understand it. I simply want others to be aware of the actions and behaviors of this business and make a decision to take your car there with a balanced understanding of both good and poor reviews made available.
